  1. Thank you for replying I have booked the PTE Academic in four weeks and will also post my feedback here. I have just received the official guide PTE ACADEMIC book from Amazon, which received excellent reviews and from what I've seen so far it looks straight forward and easy to understand the different sections and exactly what to expect in the exam.
  2. Has anyone taken the PTE Academic test? If so I would appreciate your feedback. I am aware it is computer based not written in exam hall, which may be comforting for some, but how else does this compare to IELTS?
  3. Has anyone taken the alternative tests such as TOFEL or PTE ACADEMIC? Feedback would be appreciated I took the IELTS twice and needed 8 in all sections. Unfortunately I didn't get the reading as just under at 7.5 and listening the second time at 6.5. It is unfortunate you cannot take one of these sections as a separate module. Doesn't make sense to have to retake the whole test again as you may achieve the required results in most but the next time you may achieve this but not in the others if you catch my drift!
  4. Many thanks Olly8 - test booked so will give it my best shot - Like you said consistent practice is key!
  5. Thank you MaggieMay24, It looks like the website has only been updated recently as the alternative tests have been benchmarked against IELTS.
  6. I also need to get 8 in each section. Just also found out from the Australian immigration website they are now also accepting alternative English test such as the TOAEL IBT and PTE Academic for many different visas. Different tests suit different people!
  7. I got listening 8 reading 7 writing 6.5 and speaking 9. I am a native from the UK. I did have some one to one tuition and recommend doing this for tips they give. I am going to practice and keep practicing - test is January 10th. I also recommend the IELTS website and ensure you start to time yourself.

Test in two weeks. Will be practicing intensively from now. But the key is practice. The reading for me is the most challenging. Good luck Princess1:)

Hi Cherries002. . I have not taken the test as of yet. Yes I am a native speaker, like you I found the skimming and scanning a little challenging. Test is in 6 weeks! Thank you for sharing the resources, I will let you know how I get on.
  10. Hi Steff1984, Once you have been assessed by any one of the TRB you are eligible to teach in any state in Australia. When I was in Adelaide I had a chat with someone from the SA TRB who confirmed this. Hope this helps.
  11. A big thanks for all your posts I feel relieved and clear what I need to do. Thank you for clarifying the point about Internship.
  12. Hi will be applying to immigrate and currently awaiting my qualifications assessed by AITSL. Once I am registered with the teaching board I was wondering what the chances of securing an ICT job being advertised and whether I am likely to get a permanent position? I am interested in Adelaide and Queensland?
