  1. I'll let you know when I get the grant, I had my medical on 09/03 and police checks are done, so still waiting myself.
  2. I submitted mine on 24th Jan, so hopefully I should be getting a CO very soon. Just uploaded my Form 80 today, didn't wait to be asked due to the size of the form and I had most of the info already, hopefully it will help to progress my visa quicker. Concerned though that I had my medical last Monday and its only partially complete, hope there are no major issues Also waiting on the police access report to come back which should be in the next week or so. I guess I'm just impatient
  3. This has got me worrying a little, its a big step anyway but with uncertainty work wise until you are there makes it even more scary. Hopefully my trip over later this year will help. I always thought IT in Melbourne was a big pull for overseas skilled workers.
  4. I will be in this very same situation in a few weeks, so it will be good to hear your outcome. I am planning a reccy trip later this year to see agents, companies to get my face out there and see what potential jobs are around. Then hopefully get a dialogue going with some of them and then aim for a perm date and get some interviews lined up for the first few weeks. If my approach will work only time will tell Good luck with the job search.
  5. Thats really good, make sure to sign up for KrisFlyer loyalty scheme, if you fly once a year or more or book for others you get miles and can use against flights later. I used them to go over last April and again for this November, I should have enough points to pay for my one way ticket when I make the perm move the following year I think you can back date a certain amount as well, but you would have to confirm this with them.
  6. Only down side is that your 12 month validation period once the visa is granted will be back dated to start from the date of either medical or Police check, which ever is sooner. If you were planning on 12 months from date of grant then it may be better to hold off. If you are looking to go asap after the visa grant then it wont hurt doing them now. (if that makes sense)
  7. It will likely come up on the police cert as No Live Trace meaning there was something small but not relevant. Same happened with me and I have now had to request an access report which lists everything from your archive. If it was from when you was 10 and there was no conviction, you will most likely be OK. Worth declaring it though as if you don't and it shows up it could be worse. I am no agent though so please don take my advise as def, always refer to a registered agent if unsure.
  8. I had similar a few years ago, I disclosed it prior to my medical this week, we had a quick 2 mins about it and then the doc dismissed it. Each case if different, however I would guess as you have had your medical and it didnt come up then by informing them now may open a can of worms. As others above I am not an agent and in the same boat as you so please take this as my experience only and not advice. Hope it all works out well for us all
  9. Awesome link MR, I have checked out the Melbourne site as well and they also have some great clubs, I never knew they existed and have def. removed some of my fears about meeting new people in a totally new country. Many thanks
  10. The medical itself isnt that mad, it comprised of Chest X-ray, Urine test, blood pressure check and blood tests. Oh and a general once over by the doctor for anything obvious. If its visual they will spot it, and most other things they are interested in will come out in the blood tests. Anything else I wouldn't worry about. But better to be honest, I was up front regarding some depression in 2011 and we had a 5 min chant about it and they disregarded it totally.
  11. I was up front about it as it is slightly visible and currently have some issues as cold weather stiffens the joints this time of year, I prob should have delayed the medical until the weather got warmer however its not bad enough I don't think to cause the visa to fail, well hopefully not.
  12. Had my medical today, wasnt that bad  Apart from having a female doctor and having to strip down to near nothing with no gown offered was a little embarrassing but they are professionals and I doubt I will see them again. All in all it took about 1.5 hours due to issues with the emedical website playing games, but all done now and now the wait starts for the results. My only issue is poss. having to see a specialist regarding early stages of arthritis, not bad atm but they had some concerns.
  13. I keep looking but as logged on 24th at current rate im not expecting anything until min 17th.
  14. I submitted my application on 24th Jan so I guess I have another couple of weeks to wait, no rush though as planning my validation trip for November. I have my medical booked for Monday and still waiting for part of the police check to come back that they say can take 40 days so it is prob a good job I haven't got the CO yet
  15. I will be in a similar position later on this year and a bit sceptical on landing a good job over there that matches mine here in London. But im going for more than the money so if I have to take a cut so be it. I went to an Expo a few weeks ago and the state rep for Victoria quoted some very interesting facts about ICT in Melbourne and how Melbourne is expected to be bigger than Sydney in the not so distant future. Also Sydney is much dearer to live but the weather is not as good in Melbourne. Both cities have their pros and cons.
  16. I had a CRB done when I started this job 5 years ago and shows the 1 discrepancy that makes it a No Live Trace. I was considering adding that but I was worried that they would still ask me for this access report and if it takes 40 days I didn't want to delay. Worst case I have wasted £10 but at least I will know exactly what they have to their system about me
  17. Hi All I have the same "No Live Trace", I read in the Australia and New Zealand magazine this month they say you need to then get a "Subject Access Report" which lists everything in the archive to back up your Police Certificate. Has anyone else been asked to get the Access Report after a No Live Trace result? Thanks Andrew
  18. Hi All Mini review of the expo, was very busy on the Saturday, but the talks by the NSW, Queensland and WA states was very informative and interesting. The talks on the main stage were generally very high level about visas, transport, banks etc but some some good points. Very good for new starters. I only stayed about 2 hrs but found that was enough to get the info and questions answered that I needed to. Well worth the £10 if you get to go to the Birmingham or Glasgow ones in the next couple of weeks.
  19. Hi All Down Under Live Expo is happening this weekend in London (Islington / Upper Street) with talks from all OZ state reps, employment companies and money corp. They gave me 2 extra tickets by mistake (normally £10 each in advance) after I had already got mine. They have said I can keep the tickets, however I will be going alone, if anyone wants them they can meet me tomorrow and have them for free (or I can email them to you to print off). Pm if interested and I will send contact details. Link to show - http://www.downunderlive.co.uk/event-london.php Regards Andrew
  20. Thanks guys, I haven't had the police check back yet but I was looking at doing my medical in a couple of weeks time anyway so pretty close together. In honesty I was looking at Nov trip to validate anyway so shouldn't be an issue. Assuming I pass both that is.
  21. So its 12 months from the police check as well, only thought it was from medical. Put in for my police check last week and was going to put off the meds for a bit so I wouldnt have to go before march next year. But if it also starts from police checks then I might as well book the medical sooner and go earlier, what a shame I will have to be in Oz in their summer
  22. Sent off my PCC yesterday, so hoping back in a week or so. Will put in for my medical once I get them back. Is it right that you have to have everything uploaded within 60 days of when you start your application?
  23. Go for it you wont regret it, I wish I would have done it at your age. I'm now too old for a WHV by a long way, but the good news is im going for a PR visa so I could have a perm WHV (189) very soon. I loved my month travelling around OZ last year, you will regret it a million times more if you don't.
  24. I did mine in Nov and mine took 13 days, depends application by Application I guess. I you have all your docs and evidence ready and countersigned it can really speed things up.
  25. Very excited now, I actually paid my application fee this week and awaiting a CO From things going at a snails pace it all seems to be getting very real now.
