  1. I've only stayed in a motor home whenever I visited but it's right by town and walking into town on an evening is a great plus as there's plenty to do and see too. Not sure the best place took but I know there's plenty of choice....
  2. Personally Port Douglas. Palm Cove is nice but has a man made feel. Port Douglas has more to do in and around town and closer to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. There's also more types of accommodation in Port as it's known to the locals and plenty of trips heading to the Barrier a Reef. Enjoy, it's one of my favourite places on the planet!!
  3. Thanks and its definitely to the address you gave not Australia House, Strand, London WC2B 4LA? Thanks
  4. Thanks - do I need anything in addition to the 929 form - a covering letter, copy of VISA, photocopies of passports etc?
  5. Hi, my sons passport has just been renewed however his 190 VISA is linked to the old expired one. His VISA was activated on visit last year but we are back in the UK until our big departure mid 2016. I've filled in forms 929, however I cannot access my ImmiAccount to update the information online. I believe we can physically send it in the post - can someone confirm where I send the information to, ideally in the UK and if so, do i need any other supporting documents with the form I've filled out. Many thanks
  6. When you make the move to Australia on a PR VISA, is there a minimum amount of time that a child has to have remaining on their passport before it expires? Thanks in advance...
  7. Thanks Bungo - went online but my application was locked so I assume I will need to send after getting new passports. Daft question but do you need a new 'UK' passport after landing in Oz as the UK ones will not be connected to an actual real address after we sell? Would it be better to put parents UK address when updating the boys and ours later??
  8. Hi, our childrens passports need renewing before we move to Oz next year. We have all been granted 190 VISAS, however not sure how we do this. Do we just renew passports as usual? How will Oz immigration make the link when they enter country? I have heard theres a 929 form - is this done after we get new UK passports for them and who do we send to? Secondly, when we move we will sell our home and therefore have no official UK address -0 again do we need to do anything with passports either here or when we get to AU? Any direction would be very useful. Thanks
  9. Hi Our family all have 190 VISA's, and although we activated the them whilst visiting a few months back, we wont be relocating until next summer. My question is - our 2 young boys passports will expire early next year - can anyone advise if we just renew passports here in the UK as normal or do we need to do anything else to notify them of the VISA's, fill forms etc Many thanks in advance for any assistance...
  10. [h=2]Running company from UK and tax implications[/h] Hi, my family and I are looking to relocate to Oz next year on a PR 190 visa. I currently run a UK company with my business partner and wanted to know what the ramifications are if I continue to run it from Australia. I would like to put 2-3 days work a week into the business whilst in Oz and although I won't be drawing a salary I would still like to take any dividends. Are there any tax implications of doing this and what is the best way to structure it? My business partner will stay in the UK and the idea is to keep it as a UK registered company. Has anyone done this before and if so any advice would be great. thanks

  13. Having lodged on the 9th February we received our 190 VISA for SA on Friday the 13th! Theres still a few weeks to go and they are clearly still processing. Good luck to you all! Taffyowen
  14. Hi, yes I did get a reply and have a HAP ID now. I had to chase 3 times and nearly filled in form to mail in post. I was told that the new email address was being read however only essential emails will be replied to and the team as a whole will deal with all VISAS from here on. No doubt it will slow down the process! Fingers crossed!
  15. We only sent the passport last week. My main concern is that the CO email is now not in operation and that its going to a general email. Our CO was excellent and got back very quickly however Ive heard nothing since its changed over.....
  16. How are you getting on with medicals? We have a birth certificate and passport for 6 week old and have sent to CO but heard nothing. We need HAP ID for him to book meds....
  17. Same here - we have a baby due in 3 weeks, however we haven't been given a CO yet. We lodged on the 9th Feb for 190 SA. How long after baby do you think you can finalise your documents?
  18. Is anyone aware of a delay for the 190 SA VISA? Theres a a thread on pomsinadelaide saying it could be July 1st before they can be granted due to a backlog? Is anyone else aware of this? We are awaiting CO having applied for VISA 5 weeks ago... Taffyowen
  19. Ive invested from a distance before and never had issues, however I appreciate all the comments and understand the risks involved. Ive also got some friends in te area we like in Queensland that could keep an eye on things. The property in Queensland would also be somewhere to potentially move to long term therefore it would be a financial and personal investment potentially too.
  20. I submitted my EOI in early January (Sales & Marketing Manager), however I was contacted direct via email by SA Immigration asking to upload further information on my Skills Assessment and answer questions on why I want to move to SA etc. Although my Skills Select account says that my status is submitted Im not sure who takes it from here. Will I hear back from Skills Select or SA Immigration? Is this the normal procedure with SA? Taffyowen
  21. Thanks Keith, that was our intention - we would be looking at something that could be rented out in an area such as the Sunshine Coast which we have visited in the past and like. I suppose like the UK you can get an agency to manage it along with marketing it to holiday makers through the appropriate channels. Taffyowen
  22. Ive been there half a dozen times and sure its where we want to be. We would rent for the first six months to find out where we want to be though. Even in a worst case scenario (if we had to come back) we could always sell the property - no point keeping money in the bank with current rates. The bad tenants is a concern of course, however the plan would be to move there possible in future...its good to get the feedback and appreciate the challenge of distance.
  23. That makes sense - so is it possible as newly arrived PR?
  24. We are hoping to move over to SA later this year on a 190 VISA. The idea is to sell our home and buy in Australia. We are lucky to have a decent amount of equity in our UK home and with exchange rates improving hope to have a decent amount to spend when we get there. Our ideal scenario would to buy a family home in Adelaide and an investment property (in Queensland). We would hope to purchase the holiday home outright (if this is the best thing to do?) and get a mortgage on our family home. Has anyone any experience of doing this? Is it easy to buy and get a mortgage if you've just moved over? Are there issues purchasing in a state if you are not living there? Any tip and advice would be appreciated. Taffyowen
