  1. Hey Lizzy, We did DH’s through ICAA with the express option and got it back in 4 days :-) not thats any help for CPA lol..
  2. Thanks for the info. Contragts on your visa grant btw. Exciting times :-)
  3. Hahaha, that’s good to know thanks abz :-) I won’t wind DH up regarding it until after we get our grant, he might be tempted to leave me behind LOL. Are you both in Oz now? Has you OH managed to find work ok with ACCA, the more I am reading it seems like it’s only really accepted in Canberra – We are hoping to move to Perth or Adelaide.
  4. Thanks for this info. Did you get 15 points for ACCA? Who was your skills assessment with if you dont mind me asking?
  5. It sounds really unromantic, but Amazon. They do everything with international shipping and have a wedding registry section.. My friend used it and had no complaints
  6. Thanks Diana its at times like this I'm glad for our agent, nothing is black and white. He didn't mention anything about DH's degree though so i will ask him about that as it may be another way for us to get points should we need them, thanks For my own curiosity I had a nosey on the website re the ACCA details about what you need to be able to study and it can be done with just A levels, who knew lol : http://www.accaglobal.co.uk/gb/en/qualifications/glance/acca/who.html
  7. Ah ok, i see what your saying Now your testing, lol I had to ask DH as I glaze over usually when he talks about this stuff ahhahaha. He does not have any other degree. He said you can do a professional qualification without having to have a undergrad qualification. So he has the ACCA professional qualification, then he has done his accounting degree post ACCA "just because" (only my DH would do it backwards lol). Having the ACCA meant he only had to do part of the degree course, or something (i hope this makes more sense to you than me). He gets his degree results in March
  8. No, it is a professional qualification in its own right. The qualification is the equivlant of a UK masters, as confirmed by the ACCA. We confirmed it with them before applying for the skills assessment. DH is just waiting for his degree results in anycase if that makes a difference?
  9. Thanks for the reply Adam. I questioned it with our agent and if its any help they stated: " I nominated only 10 points on the education part to be on the safe side as it can be easily claimed not to be a bachelor qualification even that the ICAA recognised it to be the equivalent. " They have submitted us at 60, i guess i am just panicking as i understand that people don't get invited at 60 points, if there are a lot with higher points? As there are only two rounds of invitations before DH drops 5 points for age. Part of me wanted to push it with my agent, but part of me accepts that i am sure he knows best, so i just need to relax, hahaha. And we don't want to be in a position where we overestimate the points we lodge with and potentially loose the money.
  10. Hi everyone, So my DH passed hiss skills assessment this week with ICAA. He is ACCA qualified. Their letter advised his qualification is an equivalent to a bachelor degree, so we thought it would give us 15 points. However our migration agent is saying that it is open to interpretation and wants to submit it as 10 incase we get a strict CO. This would mean lodging our EOI at 60 rather than 65. I'm concerned as he turns 33 mid Feb, which if i understand it properly means there are only 2 rounds of invitations that we could be invited in before he looses 5 points on age  At which point we will have to re assess, i.e. re sitting IELTS to get all 8s or going for state sponsorship which we didn't really want to do, as our migration agent is saying it limits us to ACT with DH's qualification. Has anyone else come across a migration agent "down grading" points? I understand he is trying to manage our expectations, but it seems harsh. Confused :err: I just hope we are lucky and get invited before his birthday. Thanks
  11. Congrats, exciting times ahead
  12. Hey, We are aiming to move early 2015 too and are looking at Perth and Adelaide. We are just waiting for hubby's skills assessment to come back.. Like you we have a pet that cant come (a house bunny, so he is not even allowed ). He is 7 this year, so it is so hard. Don't want to leave him, but desperate to go. My parents have offered to have him if it gets to that point, but i would feel like such a lousy owner xx
  13. Thats really good to know, it seems like a really good mix of people on here and its nice to know that people meet up too. Sorry to thread jack but do you live in Adelaide? If so, can I pick you brain and ask if you recommend any good places to stay/eat/visit, and equally the same but to avoid? We are hoping to settle in either Perth or Adelaide and are doing a trip this year to have a good look around and get a feel for both of them and what living there would be like. Perth we are lucky with as I have a cousin there to show us. I have been reading up about some of the suburbs in the area to get a feel for them on what is now becoming homely.co.au (i can not for the life of me remember its previous name as i have it bookmarked, street adviser rings a bell), but there is nothing like insider knowledge and tips Thanks in advance xx
  14. Hi Laura, Thank you for the lovely positive post. My OH and i are in the early phases, we sent the skills assesment off last week. I found PIO a few weeks ago, and it has been so helpful but also slightly scary, so it is good to read a story like yours which sounds similar to our path. It gives me hope that we can do it too. Best wishes x

    Hello :)

Hi Jac2011, thanks for the well wishes We are between Perth and Adelaide. Mainly because we have family in Perth, which always helps. For Adelaide, the company both OH and I work for have offices there, so as we progress down the line we will approach them about transfers. But we are going to do a trip over this year and have a good look around those two and Melbourne too. Exciting How about you? xx

    Hello :)

Hi Tina Good luck for your EOI, how exciting. Have you been to Australia before? Our friends think we are mad wanting to move somewhere we have never visited. I cant wait for our trip this year to go exploring. Where abouts do you think you will settle over there? xx

    Hello :)

Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while and thought now would be a good time to say hi :cute: My OH and I are just in the early steps of applying for a 189 or a 190 and this website has been so helpful for advice. We have done the IELTs and submitted the skills assessment today (my OH is an accountant and we are applying through him). We are hoping to make our first trip over this year to do some looking around, we are currently thinking Perth or Adelaide, but have not yet made the final decision. I have no doubt i will have loads of questions as we progress through the visa steps, but for now thanks for all the useful info so far :cute:
