  1. You must be so excited. my husband and I just landed in Sydney over a week ago now. Must say loving it, bit tired, as so much to get done. We have already started work and are looking for a rental. Once we find an apartment I feel like we will relax a bit more........having said that have enjoyed a few cocktails at darling harbour, had a couple of dinners out also seen so much already, just having walked around areas trying to narrow down areas to live. Any advice?..................try and make sure before you leave that you get a few days off to relax by yourselves. We found that everything took a lot longer than thought, like sorting shipping stuff, cleaning, emptying house. Consider staying in a hotel for a few days before you fly, as then you will have had everything done and you can just relax, so you can hit the ground running when you land. feel free to Message me if you have any questions. Hopefully I can answer them. ps I wish I hadn't used space in our suitcases for our winter jackets, as we have just been wearing cardigans, jumpers and windbreaker jackets.............who knows if we will need them.
  2. Apologies if this should be in another section, but I am wondering if someone can answer a question for me. We have just landed in Sydney ( must say loving the decision so far) and my husband and I are over on a 457 visa. My question is what form do we fill in online for a tax number? I know we need to make sure that we are down as residents for tax purposes and don't want to get put down as temporary. Is is it the 'Australian resident' form or is it the 'permanent migrant/temporary worker form' we need it fill in. Many thanks, lindsay
  3. Thank you, everyone. I appreciate you taking the time and some useful info there. Decided that looking at reviews of the companies weren't helping as with so many people making the move there are good and bad reviews. So the above info is great for me to sit down again and look at the quotes and then choose one and try to negotiate. thanks again.
  4. Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to choose a shipping company to send stuff to Sydney. Obviously the cost, volume and how the company presented itself when they came round to do the quotes is a major factor. However is there anything else that I should also consider when choosing? Any loopholes anyone found or things they just didn't consider having never done this before. Any help would be appreciated, feel like I am going round and round in circles. Thanks in advance. Lindsay
