  1. Hi just touched down today and I'm jet lagged as hell. Is the process as simple as complete the online forms and just wait for it to come through the post? I read about an interview at a post office but on reading it again I don't think that applies to a new migrant?

  2. A dull subject I know. I lost my charger and wondered what plug these come with in oz? Two pin like here or there three pin design? Just debating if I should buy one before I fly next week as no doubt it will be cheaper here or just wait.

  3. I can't read the full ten pages of this as a lot of it seems like nonsense to be honest.

Complaining about food though? Asian food is better in Australia than it is in Asia! I will give the OP that fish and chips are crap in Oz mind, food in general is not though.

as for a burnt pizza in Pizza Hut hardly a reflection on a nation is it lol.

  4. Dairy Milk is simply a brand name. Dairy is milk, cheese, cream, butter, yoghurt etc, not chocolate. FYI, wine gums do not contain wine

But dairy milk does contain milk that probably came from a dairy.....

Best bet is to declare all food, I have taken chocolate they just ask and wave you through.

  5. Hi I move in less than a month now I just cancelled my contract here and got my iPhone unlocked.

Can I get a sim only contract in Australia? Can I get it virtually straight away?

    Anyone got recommendations for providers?

  6. Yes, I have my tickets, or at least I HOPE I've got my tickets, as I opted for having them texted to me. I must check if I did pay for them. I'm sure I did. Spurs fans are coming from all over Australia for the game.

I haven't got my ticket yet but I cant imagine Spurs (or Newcastle) are going to pack out the stadium like Man U or Juventus

  7. Yes, I guess supporting Newcastle United, you are in the 'same boat', but with more holes in yours (at the moment!) I have a soft spot for Newcasle Utd because I was born in South Shields. My Mum's family were Geordies, from Jarrow/Hebburn I think.

Will you be going to the spurs game? Im not asking for a date lol. Just wondered seen as it says NSW as you location.

  8. He didn't even make the end of the war.[/QUOte

5 July 1945, after VE Day, but before VJ Day, so close enough, and Britain is a democracy.

tell that to the people who were still dying.

  9. I always thought it amazing that Churchill was voted out of office only 3 or 4 weeks after the end of the war.

Having just led Britain to a wonderful victory and they turfed him out.

He didn't even make the end of the war.

  10. Correct. Fascism comes from the Latin 'fasces': a bundle of sticks (expensive classical education bears belated fruit). These would be used to beat dissenters - so fascism really only refers to any ideology which uses violence to further its own ends.

Churchill was a Liberal who by his own admission flirted with Conservatism for expediency. He was a great wartime leader, but subsequently was one of the proponents and founders of the European Court of Human Rights, a fact which some choose to ignore.

If the UK left the EU they would still be subject to ECHR rulings as that is a separate body - set up many years before the EU came into being.

Because as a non EU member we can't just leave that as well....

  11. How lovely to see Conservative central office putting out all of these smears against the SNP as they know they could do a deal with Labour to keep Cameron out. I would be laughing for months if this happens to be honest. I think the SNP are doing a great job of representing the interests of Scotland and as I mentioned

elsewhere, the Tories have been defecating on the home nations for far too long.

Is there any proof, thats a serious question last I heard it was he said she said etc.

Labour won't do it I don't think, not without some promises I doubt Nicola Sturgeon won't make. She has already said she won't be in a coalition without the scrapping of Trident. Its a big issue for one of the leaders to blink on. If Milliband scraps it he is weak and Scotland is controlling the UK they wouldn't be elected at the next election. Sturgeon goes in to a coalition and it isn't scrapped and she is a liar the same as the rest of them.

  13. Having thought about this post again I have come to the conclusion the word fascist is now used so much because as we live in a more and more multi cultural world to simply label people racist no longer works. For instance UKIP has members from most walks of life, people have different coloured family members, partners and children. It seems to me the word fasict has simply been substituted by people who dislike the views of others.
