  1. Hi All. Received e-mail from APHRA and my application has been rejected as I'm also Diploma. It has taken them a whole year to inform me after lots of e-mail conversations. I have been offered a bridging program. If I complete it within a year of the rejection letter I can re-apply. I know things don't look hopeful but my question is ... Does anyone know if there is any British equivalent that they would accept ? Top up Degree??
  2. That to me is so ridiculous !! You should be exempt and automatically receive 20pts if got certificates to prove it. Never mind . x
  3. Hi again. Looks like that the only option. Lots of food for thought from everyone. It`s really appreciated .... THANKS.x Obviously going to await APHRA and then contact Hospital and then take it from there. However will also look into doing the IELTS and skills assessment in meantime to increase my options. I will have a little rant though... born and bred in England . Been through the British education system . Have O`levels , A`Levels and a Diploma in nursing and still have to prove my English abilities and pay to do so!! Thanks again ALL
  4. Thanks - I thought as much. Maybe there is hope yet. Going to wait for APHRA registration and then take it from there. xx
  5. Hi I`m aware of the 20 points. Unfortunately Hubby`s job not on skills list. Also if my age was 40-44 I would have the 60 points - hence only have 45. !! Makes you feel so old and useless even though I know I`m not !!! LOL xx Such is life, Got to keep smiling xxx
  6. Thanks again for your reply. Unfortunately I`m 50 in February so not much time - doesn`t look good !! The hospital I was in touch with on Gold Coast only requested that I register with APHRA and were happy with my age. Hence have not done skills assessment. They also offer sponsorship if successful. Neither did they mention IELTS. Contacted APHRA prior to sending off my forms and as long as I had proof of secondary education etc in England they did not require IELTS- therefore believed no need to do it. Now after reading your reply I`m slightly frustrated and will be quickly doing some research. Thanks for taking time to reply. x
  7. Hi I applied to Aphra as one hospital has been in touch with me and before they can take it any further I need to be registered with APHRA. However I do agree it costs so much . Some would argue it would be worth it. I dont have enough point due to my age. My only option is sponsorship . Thanks for replying and good luck with your meds !! xx
  8. Thanks for reply. Not news I was hoping for. What will be will be xxx
  9. Hi PACU is post anaesthetic care nurse. x
  10. Hi all. I`m a mature (49 yrs old ) PACU nurse. Qualified April 2013 so only have 6mths experience to offer. Have recently been to Gold Coast to visit family and totally fell in love the the country. Partner HGV driver and trainer . Two boys 16 yrs and 12 yrs. Oldest just started A`levels. All of us would love to emigrate though personally feel their is a few things going against us. Firstly- my age and currently limited experience. Believe the only option is the 457 and if successful eventually apply for PR. Have researched area and hospitals. Currently have sent off registration doc`s to APHRA and waiting reply before can continue. Secondly - slightly concerned about oldest son and his A`levels. He is totally up for AUSTRALIA and has stated is prepared to go back a year if necessary. He is currently doing Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Was wondering if anyone out there with similar background as to us that could give me some advice . All advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
