  1. http://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/become-a-cpa/migration-assessment/skilled-employment-assessment

    Check the paragraph "Statutory Declarations"

Many people will find themselves in your position (those who do not want their employers to know they are looking into emigrating) so are unable to obtain anything from their employer

That's what I was thinking, the statutory declaration, but it also asks for a letter from a colleague, I think I can find someone else to do that, without it being my manager

  2. Thank you for your help, I

am having a meeting with my boss on Friday to discuss the reference so I may as well wait until then! I just want to get past this part!

Well, it's against my company's policy to provide such detailed references. The HR team (based abroad) will only provide a standard letter with start date and job title. My manager can provide a 'personal' reference but must not mention the company name or job related information!! Not sure where to go from here...

    Any suggestions??

  3. Yes you can submit and EOI with 75 points and if by the time you get an invite you receive word from CPA that you don't have 75 points you can let it expire.

It's DIBP you have to convince your experience warrants the points but obviously having confirmation from CPA would help your case.

Instead of submitting an EOI with 75 points could you submit one with 70 (err on side of caution) so you are in the queue then if CPA come back with 75 you can update your EOI and jump to the front of the queue.

I'm sure any agent would advise you against submitting an EOI without word from CPA but that's a decision only you can make.....

I wouldn't worry about post brexit increases - you know how long the process takes. Anyone looking into it now will not be in a position to submit an EOI for some time.

  4. I did 2 separate EOIs - if you get an invite under 190 your 189 is blocked if you do them both under 1 EOI.

With 75 however you will get a 189 invite immediately so you're probably aswell just doing them both in the same EOI.

Did you hear back from CPA about your experience ? If your SMP doesn't count then you'd probably need to input separate periods of employment even though it's the same employer. Mark your periods of SMP as non relevant as you won't then gain any points for them.

No I haven't finished with the CPA yet. I'm still struggling to get the reference that I need. But since the experience assessment isn't essential and I have the qualification one, I thought I could try and get my invite and the reference at the same time! Panicking because it's getting towards 1st July and wanted the EOI in by then!!

If I submit it with 75 points, and get an invite, then CPA say it's not 75 can I re-submit a new one?

Or maybe I should wait until I have CPA confirmation, not sure what to do, especially after reading this...http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/brexit-google-sees-huge-spike-brits-wanting-migrate-australia-15673966

  5. I'm trying to submit my EOI online, it's coming out with 75 for 189 and 80 for 190. Is that right to submit both categories on the same application? Also for the skilled employment it does not give me anywhere to deduct points for maternity or unpaid leave. It's literally just start date, end date, title, and that's it! Not sure whether to submit it now or not? I have had the same employer for over 10 years. Any suggestions?

  6. I still haven't been able to sort out a testimonial for my current job. I never go to the office as I am at clients sites everyday, so not been able to get any letterhead paper yet. Anyone else know if they accept official emails instead?

  7. im trying to switch to Pearson now. ive read stories of people who took ielts 6 times and missed the mark by 0.5 and got >80s in their 1st pearson attempt.

Without high English scores and without many points, I would think there is almost zero chance of getting the invitation. Increasing your English score is the best thing you can do. What did you get in your previous test?

  8. Paid maternity leave counts, unpaid does not, personally I would err on the side of caution and not claim it,

Without counting the maternity leave I would have 75 points, with it I would have 80. It was all paid. However, I also need to be sure that my experience is relevant enough.

If I was in a hurry then I could submit my EOI now, but I'd rather get it right and take a bit longer I think

  9. Yeah we were delighted when it came through first thing on Monday! Much quicker than we anticipated.

We're fine-tuning the planning at the moment, but should be on a plane to Melbourne around mid-August. Now comes the harder part of trying to get a job sorted as soon as possible after we're on the ground ;-)

Wow I'm so impressed with your timeline!! Congratulations!!

  10. My testimonial was accepted with no issues, as a rough guide it was probably half to 2/3's of a page on each of my 4 job roles over the five years. Made sure it was on company headed paper, had specific dates for each role, salary for each, stated how many hours per week it was etc.

For each job I structured it with a couple of sentences giving an overview of the team/department I was working in and where they fitted in the company. Then bullet points detailing my specific individual responsibilities whilst in the role. My current manager signed it off for me and I made sure I included his title and contact number as they instructed.

Did they give any feedback as to why it wasn't accepted?

They didn't even mention it. Although I'm not sure it was what they call a testimonial. It was more in the format of a letter on company paper, explaining about my job. I have been with the same company for over 10 years, but had various periods of leave, and reduced hours etc, various promotions and pay rises. But I did also include detailed bullet points on the job description. So I included it all in 1 explanation, but it wasn't signed by anyone other than me, because it's still my current boss I was a bit reluctant to do it, but if I have to then I can

  11. The accountancy skills assessment does not require any work experience validation.

Hi, I have the positive qualification assessment, but I'm really unsure how many points I can claim for my experience, due to maternity leave and part time etc. So I asked for CPA to do the assessment, I think it's worth having their opinion before I apply for the visa

  12. Hi,

CPA have asked me today for a work experience testimonial, I thought I had submitted everything with the original application but it mustn't have been in the right format or detailed enough.

Does anyone have a template or an example that I can have a look at that has been used with a successful CPA application?

    Thank you!

  13. CPA have come back today asking for a testimonial for my work experience. I thought I had submitted this originally but they mustn't have accepted it, or maybe it wasn't in enough detail. Does anyone have a template or example I can see please? Thanks!

  14. I have received my positive assessment today from CPA for my qualification only. I had asked for the experience assessment and sent everything at the same time. Any else received this afterwards, and if so how long after? Thanks

  15. Yes it does impact.

There was work experience which CPA found irrelevant. In the beginning of June I will have enough points without this job.

Don't want to wait two months.

If you have received your invitation based on the wrong number of points, then your visa will be rejected and you will lose the fee. Waiting until June is a better option

  16. Hi everyone,

I received an invitation which contains a mistake on the last round. Now EOI is frozen and I can't change it.

Can I submit another EOI to get another invitation?

    Looking forward to good advice.

What was the mistake? Did it impact the number of points you had?

  17. We also considered doing a trip before hand but decided it was just another 5k cost to the whole process and would it really give us a true picture of what life would be like living there permanently ? My wife and I had a 12 month working holiday about 10 years ago so although things will have changed substantially at least we aren't going into the complete unknown.

We will be staying with friends who live there, so hopefully that should give us a better idea, we have been before too but it was also a long time ago, plus we get a holiday!!

  18. Hi, thank you for your reply, yes that was the original thinking to activate the visa, but keeping accountant on the list gives us a bit longer.

I haven't even got my CPA assessment back yet, so just considering the different approaches. I would do the EOI before the trip and then be all set to apply straight afterwards
