OMG we got our visas granted this morning!!!
Can't believe how quick and smooth this has been!
Just need to get the house sorted now
-
so glad went well! Just seen you have had them all cleared etc now!! Eek so exciting for you! 8' so jealous of you all being nearly there!! The Hubble has his test this Saturday and he is having a nightmare on the reading section!! He is one bright cookie but he keeps falling just one mark short to get top marks on the reading test papers! Any advice?
also once you express you EOI, do they set you up an immi account to upload all documents or do we go ahead and set one up? I am about to start scanning everything onto my laptop so once we do the EOI all documents are ready! We will only do police checks and medicals once requested yes? /sorry for so many questions lol. X
Did you do the skills assessment already? You need to do that first before the EOI. I did PTE so not quite the same as IELTS, but I scored way better on the day than I did in any of the mock tests, so he might be fine! Fingers crossed for you both
-
Yippee! Our medicals on there with 'no action required' too!
Great news!
-
We had ours yesterday too. All seemed fine although I had to have my blood pressure rechecked as it was very low, although mine is naturally low anyway. Other than that everything seemed fine. As we were originally from UK my daughter didn't need the expensive TB blood test. After sns has said how much she paid, I won't tell you how much ours came to! 5 days now until results uploaded!
Great to hear that yours were fine, and cheap!! Our doctor said 2 days for test results and to be uploaded to Immi automatically. I just checked and under each name it now says 'Health clearance provided - no action required'. So I guess that's that done.
Not sure what else we can do now klr81 but wait. I wonder how long that will be?

Hey everyone, was having a look through this site and came about this thread!
I'm a currently qualifying CA in Ireland working with the Big 4, will be fully qualified in October and on my merry way to Sydney (either by way of transfer through my company or on a WHV while I apply for the s189/190).
The question I have, is can I not apply for this until I have completed my 3 years experience and officially become a CA or can I begin the process now? The reason being is I have done a masters in Accounting, so would have 65 points (possibly 70 if my experience in audit would count but probably won't until I'm actually qualified?) before this +5 points I see people mentioning here for NSW.
I assume that I'd have to continue as an external auditor or is it possible to apply for the accountant aspect?
Thanks everyone. Looking forward to using this site more in the coming year until I get over
You can usually count your experience since you graduated, as your degree is relevant to the role. But you'll need to check the list of subjects that CPA look for, and if you have studied everything on the list during your degree then you can use that.
You'll probably need 75 points to be invited quickly though, applicants with only 70 points are currently having to wait a long time.
Could your company sponsor you? You'd get up to 4 years, but then you'd have the risk of accountant being taken off the 189 list altogether in the future

Sorry to be jumping on here friends! But I lodged my 189 today and I'm super excited and there's no February lodged post! We're waiting for PCC from Australia to arrive and we have medicals next Wednesday. How is everyone's application going? We hope to be in Sydney by July!
Welcome to the club, we are aiming for July (or sooner) too!
-
Hey SNS !! How did the medicals go!! X
Thanks for asking, they were fine, but £100 for each child to be weighed and measured!! OH and I had x-rays and blood tests too. My husband was complimented on his healthy heart!! Our BMIs were 21 and 24 so I think it should all be fine!
I guess we just need to wait now x

Hello all,
So I'm not sure if we have been assigned a CO as such, (the e-mail certainly didn't say that) but I did receive an e-mail from gsmbrisbane asking for medicals, pccs and a character declaration for my husband (see separate post!)
I'm both excited and terrified!
Hi klr81,
Just got the same letter, from Brisbane, but only asking for medicals. PCCs already done, no request for form80 thank goodness.
Medicals booked for Tuesday 21st, so fingers crossed we are nearly there!!
Estate agent coming next week so we can get the house on the market - that's a scary one!
-
Ps I saw further up its Perth your heading too? Us too! When are you hoping to make the move? Be so great to keep in touch if you do move to know how you settle! Its starting to hit me now how huge a move this actually is! Just wish I could zip through this visa stuff and be booking our flights! Roll on 4th March when diet exam is booked FINGERS CROSSED FOR TOP POINTS FIRST TIME AROUND
Excellent news, sounds like you have exactly
the same visa points and application that I had. With 75 points you will get an invite straight away (as I found out twice - just a little tip, when you submit your EOI select the correct assessing body ie CPA, and not IPA!!!)
We have our hearts set on Perth, we were there at Christmas, but having looked at the current job situation there we are now wondering about coastal NSW. Hoping to go at the end of school term in July, but it will be dependent on the visa and our house.
There are lots of things you can be doing in the meantime, collecting documents, decluttering the house, saving money, researching etc etc
Yes definitely stay in touch, and good luck to OH with the English exam!

More good news on the job front from me.
We also arrived about 6 weeks ago but just started looking for work this week.
Went to 3 recruitment agencies on Monday. 2 basically told me employers wouldn't touch me until I had sat exams to transition to CAANZ. The third put me forward for a job on Monday, sat a Psychometric test on Wednesday, interview on Friday and was offered the job that afternoon.
So don't get disheartened if you find anyone unwilling to accept your UK qualifications.

Amazing news, congratulations Makybe Diva!!

Wow ok so this is super positive read as my husbands degree was accounting and he has been in an accountant role since, working towards his professional CIPFA qualification during work! So when you sent off to CPA for everything to be assessed do we have to select assess from degree or professional qualification?? Andrew is sitting the English academic test in a few weeks to try to obtain the 20 points for the English test part, if what you say happens for us and they assess from his degree in accounting we will have 75 points!! Woo! How is life in Oz for you?
There is a set list of subjects
within accounting that your husband will need to prove that he has studied. He should contact his university asap and get an official copy of his syllabus and provided it includes everything that they want to see, then he'll get a positive skills assessment for his degree
-
We travelled for 8 months before coming over to Australia so have only been here a couple of months. I managed to get the first job I applied for which was good and I start work next week, so life in Oz/reality is just about to start really.
Congratulations on the job!!
-
We haven't decided on where to move to yet. We want to move to Perth for many reasons, but in part because of the dryer heat. However, for jobs we'd be better in the East. Where are the most and least humid places?

Hey guys! We are just starting our visa for a 189 for management accountant and we think we have 70 points! Now when CPA assess us, are points awarded purely awarded from date you qualified as an accountant or do they also award points for experience as an actual accountant?? My husband has been in a senior management accountant role for 9 years but qualified for 5! Will he gain more points if they assess his employment? We're in such a panic as two migration agents said they wouldn't take us on with 70 points as accountants aren't being invited on 70 points?!! Is this true or just crap? We're desperate to go and feel so panicked this won't happen! Has anyone with 70 points been invited to apply of late!?? Thanks all xxx
Hi,
I spoke to an agent recently who said that they had someone for accountant (not sure if it was general or management) with 70 and they were waiting 3 months for an invitation.
They only count post qualification experience, however sometimes they count that from the time you finished your degree, rather than accountancy qualification. CPA will decide the date and the number of years of experience. You could go for 190 for NSW to get the extra 5 points you need to get the invitation quickly if the skills assessment comes back with less than you need.
Have you done the English exam yet? I recommend PTE (it worked for me anyway)
-
Hey SNS, how many points are you applying with for general Accountant? This process seems a mind filed!! We're just starting out! Didid you wait for your CPA assessment to come back before you did EOI? Xxx
Hi,
I had 75 points. Yes you need to do English exam first, then CPA (I chose CPA because they did skills and experience assessment for the same price), then EOI. We weren't 100% sure if we were going to apply so hence the long gap between skills assessment and EOI
-
How funny SNS! We have to be there really early in the morning for my daughter's T Spot test in place of the X-ray : ( It must be an expensive test as the cost of her medical is more than twice that of our adult test. I think we have got it at a good price because of where we are. Ours is about 55 pounds but my daughters 130 pounds!
Wow that is so cheap, ours is £906, in Edinburgh!! I'm thinking a little holiday to Malaysia would be worth it
-
Added a couple of bank statements now too. Now just waiting on my full birth cert to arrive, PCCs to come through and medicals booked Feb 21st!
Our medicals are the same day!!!
-
Yes I agree, I didn't realise it was suppose to be certified. I thought colour scan was enough!!
That's is quite a list, I have the same for the kids, but there is more I could add for mine. I didn't even think of join bank accounts and mortgage accounts, I thought these might only be need if you are not married to your partner.
I had better add some more documents!!
-
Just Google it. Available freely to download.
Thanks!
That's quite a form! Does everyone have to do it? Or just those who it is requested from?
-
Just re-read your post Jijiboy about the Form 80. Going to get ours done tomorrow!
Where do I get form 80 from?

Planning on moving over July/Aug 2017.
Wow super fast, congratulations. We are hoping to move July 2017 too, but not heard anything about our application yet
-
We submitted and paid on 23rd January. Hoping to get medicals done next month because I am a teacher and will need to go in half-term. Might leave Police checks until we get a CO assigned. We are currently in South East Asia and hope to go on holiday at the end of this year to validate visa (fingers crossed) with a view to move permanently in July 2018.
Once you get a CO, is there a deadline for docs? By the time we are assigned a CO I will have everything apart from the police check from the UK. Looks like that is 10 days without postage time which will be another 2 weeks to get out here.
I'm so excited!
We booked our medicals for half term too, because we have a son at school. We can pay on the day for the medicals, so can postpone if we are not ready by then or have not heard from a CO. We applied for police certs about the 12th Jan, mine arrived within 9 days, but my husband's has not arrived yet. He has lived in more parts of the UK than me, so that might be the reason for the delay. Just something for you to bear in mind if you have traveled quite a bit and are leaving it to the last.
We are decluttering the house and trying to get ready for a valuation in the meantime! Can't wait to go!
Where in Australia are you planning to move to? Do you work in an international school?
-
Correspondence maybe
Thanks, yeah that's where I looked, but there was nothing new. Maybe it was just notifying me of an old email?! It's a bit quick for them to be contacting me I think, as I only submitted the visa application a week ago
-
Hi,
I received an email which said the following:
Please be advised that you have received a message in your SkillSelect Mailbox Account.
To read the message, please click on the link which will direct you to the login page;
But when I log in I can't see anything, where should be looking?
Thanks!

Thanks everyone, so quick, I can't believe it. 5.5 weeks since applying.
I honestly think the thing that made the difference was getting an experience assessment from CPA (as well as a qualification assessment), it took a while, but at least I knew that I had claimed the right amount of experience and CPA agreed before I did the EOI or paid for the visa.
Good luck to you all to get yours fast too!!
