I know this is an old post but I wondered if you would mind updating on how you proceeded with the application & what was the outcome?

I am currently in a similar situation where I have 2 periods of maternity leave and I don't know if I can claim points for this time or not.  I know the safe option is not to claim however to get an invite I am going to need 75 points (Accountant) & without claiming the periods of maternity leave I will only have 70 points.  I was paid 50% of my salary for both maternity periods & given that I was originally contracted for 40 hours that would mean I was remunerated for 20 hours per week during this time so would appear to satisfy the criteria however I am having difficulty getting a concrete answer.

I am claiming 20 points for English & don't see any other options to increase points other than 5 points for partner but I believe getting a skills assessment for my partner would be a lengthy & costly process (he is a plumber) and if it is not necessary then we don't want to go down that route.  Obviously if this is the only option then that might be what we need to do!

    I welcome any comments/advise, thanks :)

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while. I got full 10 years of experience awarded and so maximum points. I therefore had 75 points, got the invite within a few days of EOI and visa within 6 weeks of applying. We are now enjoying the sunshine in Perth ?

  2. Thank you for your reply Collie, that's all great news as the things you mentioned - walking to resturants etc doesn't worry us as kids are little. We just want somewhere family focused, so far we are happy with the choice (albeit just 1 day at school so far).

Husband found a great job and started today too, so far so good

  3. We arrived 2.5 weeks ago without jobs lined up. My husband started work today in his area, way better pay than his last company.

We almost didn't come to Perth because of what we had read on here about no jobs, thankfully we took the risk as so far we are very happy with our choice.

Thanks, yes found somewhere :-) a lovely resort a little further out but will be perfect, cheers!

    Hi,

We are looking at a stopover there too for August, what was the name of the resort and was it any good?

  5. On 19 April 2017, 200 occupations were removed entirely from the STSOL.

See: List of the removed occupations

A further 16 occupations on the MLTSSL (indicated by ‘** asterisks’) were restricted to only apply to the following visa programmes:

See: Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

If your occupation has been removed from the list, you will be impacted if:

Sadly not until June 15th. Pushing it we know but we're in the system so if we get those points we will do a new EOI straight away as im monitoring and 75 and above are taking days to get invites which is still positive.

Do you think accountants will come off the SOL list?

where did you buy your book Hun? How are your plans! X

Hi laevans, have you seen the thread about the change to 457 visas, and particularly the part that implies that skilled visas will be changed..

"significantly condensing the occupation lists used for skilled migration visas, including the subclass 457 visa, from 19 April 2017 "

I got the book off ebay, and sold it through ebay as well. I don't think it will come off the list as they have been saying that for years, but there might be a further reduction in numbers. But who knows!?

Our plans are coming on very quickly, my friends are talking leaving dos... and it's all a bit scary and real and exciting!!

  8. Hi,

My daughter has a hearing loss problem that may or may not need treatment in the future. We are due to move out this summer. We have considered getting her treated privately here first, but the NHS insist it may correct itself as she grows.

Would she be covered in Australia, or would it be a pre existing condition and how much would it cost if she needed a hearing aid or grommets in the future? How does the medical insurance etc work over there?

So hubbie has just booked PTE!! We will get those points and we will get that VISA!  Any PTE ADVICE???? it seems more room for error than the IELTS?!! X

Good move on the PTE! I did that one, the only advice is practice using the example questions online/ in book and full concentration on the day!!

Sorry I sold my practice book or I would have sent it to you.

    When's the exam?

  10. Hi, great to see you back laevans, I'd been wondering about the English!

Has your husband looked at doing PTE-A instead of IELTS? That's the one I did and seems to be easier (from reading on here), also results are back within 24-48 hours.

I heard from an agent that it's 1-2 months wait with 70 points at the moment, but you should get it eventually. However, I think with 190 the timing is all in the hands of the individual state, is it NSW? Also it costs a bit more for the visa, as the state also charges you. Fantastic news on the positive CPA assessment

  11. Oh such a list would be a great idea, I'll have a look too. We are mid house declutter, and container companies are coming next week to give us quotes etc.

I'm also sorting out bank accounts and paper work, trying to go paper free on all statements etc

Not sure what else we should be doing, (I'm constantly making lists for my husband lol)

  12. Hi All, Great to be back on here! I've missed you all!!

Congratulations klr81 fantastic news!! Really pleased for you.

laevans - how did the IELTS go??

We've sold our house (first day on the market) and today my husband resigned from his job, we'll be leaving UK on 17th June I think - scary but exciting

And the new server has changed my username - I don't know how - but I was previously known as sns

  13. Wow go Lever40!!!! It's all starting to happen!! Exciting times! My hubbie sat his test so waiting on results now! We have a house we rent out that we put on market Saturday to get monies behind us and it sold today!! Fastest sale ever!!! So things are getting exciting for us! Just need these 20 points from exam then we can go full steam ahead x

Congrats to everyone getting their houses sold so quickly! That's amazing news. Ours goes on the market in a week or 2. We've had 3 estate agents round, all said its a great time to sell and you guys are the evidence of that!

    Congrats everyone

  14. Hi,

We are in a similar situation, our visas were granted this morning. We want to go to Perth too, and our kids are about the same age. Hope to leave here at the end of this school year, or earlier (June or July). The medicals should be fine, it's fairly straight forward, our kids didn't get much apart from weight and height checked.

Not sure where to start on choosing a suburb, it seems quite tricky to get the rental, school and work to all tie in together, but very excited now we have the visas
