  1. thanks for your replies both. i am just looking into all options and if we chose to go on the sponsored visa with my partner being main applicant i would not have any post grad experience... or very little, so the safety net would be nice. that is if we want go sooner and not wait for me t get experience. also,im march intake so could start in summer. We don't know if we want to apply for PR straight off as we have no children so aren't as restricted in needing the stability, plus we may decide that aus is not where we wish to start a family in the future. apologies for the poor typing... im on an ipad and keyboard is awful!!
  2. Hi all Just wondering if someone could clear something up for me. I'm looking into graduate programmes which yes I know are very hard to come by) but am I bit confused about Queensland, which stipulates that the state will no sponsor overseas graduates for a visa. Does this mean overseas students have to apply for a sponsor via a hospital that hosts the graduate programme? Or do you have to be on another visa - ie with a partner who is sponsored? Thanks, Katie
  3. Forgot to add... My boyfriends job is often advertised for 457s but due to my degree he is holding off. So we also have option of him being main applicant.
  4. Hey All, Just to introduce myself... I'm a second year student nurse adult branch. I start third year in March. Feeling pretty low at the moment. I have to work to pay a loan I had preuni and my boyfriend lives three hours away and is working a lot. The academics of the course are soul destroying when all you want to do it focus on patient care! Anyway the plan is to get some postgrad experience and head out to Aus. My mind is all over the place at the moment - do I apply for post Grad here in Cardiff or near boyf? Do I then go down the PR route or take a punt on the 457? If that's the case I'm kinda restricted because boyfriend wants to be near family in QLD. And there is the realistic... Will we be even still be together in a years time? (I hope so but being realistic!!) Late night rambling to get me through a shift.
  5. Top and bottom from my backpacking travels in 2009... Middle is Rainbow beach January 2013... Maybe it is getting a bit browner

    This is my baby Lily...
  7. I took a silk liner but to be honest barely need it. All the hostels I stayed in provided top and bottom sheets and if you stay more than a few days were happy to replace them. There was never a need for a blanket.
  8. As for christmas... as long as you have a good crowd i recommend any beach / park/ outdoor area. Don't forget your swimmers and a santa hat
  9. ASAP!!! Sydney New Year is fantastic - a definite thing to do at least once. It is, however, a VERY long day if you want a good spot!
  10. Thanks Cal, Yes I'd imagine it isn't simple to get work as it's such a lovely place. We are trying to be realistic in that sense and are open to going further inland if needs be. We would like to be within an hour and a half of family seeing as we will be so far away from those we will leave behind! I have 18 months left before I qualify so we are a way off yet. We also have the option of going through sponsorship from my partner's job but I am concerned that my lack of experience may hinder my chances of employment. Kate
  11. Hi All, Just a quick message to introduce myself. I am a 24 year old student nurse (adult branch) from Wales. My partner works in NDT. I travelled on a WHV at the age of 19 and spent Christmas and New Year 12/13 on and around the Sunshine Coast with partner's family, who emigrated 3 years ago. Once I am qualified and have a bit of post grad experience we hope to head to (roughly) the sunshine coast area of QLD due to our family ties. Looking forward to participating dottykp
  12. I'd recognise that view a mile off :)
