Hi, me and my boyfriend are arriving at the start of oct and will be backpacking in oz for around 6 months before moving on to NZ. We are planning on staying in hostels mainly. Would people suggest just a sleeping bag liner being enough to sleep with or is a proper sleeping bag advised? Thanks

Hi all, new to this forum! We are a couple, 20 years old, and setting off to travel oz and nz from mid october. Funds are limited and we are looking to have a good time, see/ do as much as we can and meet some friendly people! Our flights are taking us to melbourne but we may find a way of heading to cairns and starting our travels there. A few questions: - What is the best and cheapest way to travel round oz for backpackers? - trains, coach, flights? - We will be 20 when we set off, would anyone suggest getting a cheap car or camper and would anyone insure us at this age? - What is the best phone network when we get there in terms of getting sim cards? - Which bank is best and has most ATM machines?
