  1. Thank you for being so helpful Ryan. I understand that my experience needs to be within 5 years of applying which it is. I started working in April 2010 and I am still working on the same job which is Multimedia and Web Design. What I dont understand is written "Group B – five years of relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at the required skill level in the last 5 years before applying" How can one have 5 + 1 year = 6 years of experience within last five years? Thank you so much
  2. Hi all, I am a multimedia designer and I am planning to get my skills assessed through VETASSESS. My occupation lies in Group B which says I need to have a Bachelors Degree or higher. Here are my details: 1. Bachelors in Science (Two years) 2. Masters in IT (Two years) 3. Multimedia and web design experience as a freelancer (3.7 years) Please advice whether or not VETASSESS will consider my two degrees as a Bachelors Equivalent or will I need to have more years of experience to show? Thank you.
  3. I hope someone from the forum will be able to help you as I don't have experience. Have you tried contacting VETASSESS Advisory? That claim to help you with such issues.
  4. Presently no state is sponsoring Graphic Designers
  5. I just found this today, ACT has marked Graphic Designer as Closed on their list. ACT was unfortunately the only state offering sponsorship to graphic designers. On contacting the website this is what they told me "The status’ for some occupations have been changed with effect from 1 July, this included Graphic Designer ANZSCO 232411 which is now a ‘closed’ occupation. The new list should be available on our website in August. Graphic Designer ANZSCO 232411 will stay a ‘closed’ occupation on the new list."
  6. Hi osfarooq, In my opinion the Australian Embassy in Qatar or the Pakistan Embassy in Qatar would be the best people to reach for this problem. You can also contact DIAC through Australian Embassy and see what they have to say? I'll also look into this and will let you know if I find someone. Good luck with your process! Amber
  7. That sounds great SM Aztec. I think its all clear now. Also since these are the last things to do I'll have time to do the paperwork before hand. Thanks for your help!

    Which VISA

I have seen chef on more than two or three States' Skill Occupation List. Your husband can definitely apply for State Sponsorship. Just go to each state's website and download the Lists. Good luck!
  9. Thanks so much, SM Aztec. Great to hear that you were able to do so. My situation is that I will be on work visa in Doha, Qatar (not my home country) at the time of starting my visa process. And will be here only for the last few months. Do you think there will be problem getting security clearance and other documents as I'd have lived there for only there for only few months?
  10. Thanks for replying, deeacz. Yeah I saw that on the DIAC website too. Trying to contact DIAC as well but was hoping if someone on the forum can shed light. Maybe someone in the same situation? Good luck with your visa process Amber
  11. Hi, I am going to start the process for 190 Visa from July 2013 onwards. The process will be initiated by getting my skills assessed and applying for SS and on. My concern is that can I apply and manage the whole visa process while being in a country other than my homeland? How will that affect my visa process / document certification and everything else? Appreciate your advice! Amber
  12. Hi everyone! I am a Graphic Designer by profession and IT graduate by education. I have been researching online to find what would be the best way for me to make my move to Australia. As long as I have learned I have two options: 457 Visa and 190 Visa. What would you guys think would be better 1) Find an employer to sponsor me (really hard I know) and then try for PR while in Australia. 2) Apply for the ACT SS; which is by far the only state offering sponsorship. Thanks in advance Amber
