  1. Hi, firstly good luck to everybody waiting for a response from immi, i hope you don't have to wait to long. Secondly, I am not yet ready to apply to immi as I have only just sent off my skill assessment but I have started to fill in forms and gather evidence to try and be ready when my skill assessment is complete. Looking through the forms, it asks that anybody over the age of 18 included in the visa needs to prove functional English. Can anybody advise on what info they submitted? My husband does not have any paperwork relating to his secondary education. I also wanted to seek advise on whether or not to get cracking with medicals and police checks before we apply for visa or wait until we have been invited? Any advise appreciated, Cheers.
  2. Thanks for your reply, So if i was to get 8 or above on the academic, i wouldn't need to sit the general would i?? I do need the extra points so I guess the pressures on then!! :arghh: Good luck with your test.
  3. Hi Debs, Thanks for your reply. I emailed anmac, basically they said I need to have my skills assessed based on my most recent work experience. They did not elaborate further. Can i ask What you ended up doing? I noticed that you sat both academic and general ielts test, ive noticed quite a few people have done this, I was under the impression I had to just do the academic for my anmac application? May be I have read it wrong. Thanks again Mel.
  4. Hi, Just wondering if there are any nurses out there that may be in similar situation as me? My qualifications are as a registered children's nurse but since qualification I have only worked as a neonatal nurse which comes under critical care. I have to get my skills assessed under critical care nurse but then on my visa app (189) it will be based on my quals as a childrens nurse. Will this cause any problems? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  5. Hi all, I am very early on in the process, just booked my ielts test. Am I missing something? I have noticed that yourself and a few others have sat both general and academic ielts, is this the norm? Good luck to you all, wherever you are up to with your application.
  6. Hi, we were wondering if anybody has some advice. Our situation at the moment is this- it's looking as though my husband may be offered a job in Perth ready to start as soon as 457 visas are obtained, we are currently in the UK, the employers state we could be looking at relocating in approx 3 months. Our son will be turning 15 in May this year and is currently in year 10 and has already started his GCSE's. I have done a bit of research re education and if i am correct it means that if we leave in june/july he will continue year 10 until Feb 2014 when he will then start year 11, can anybody confirm this please? I would also like to know what the equivelant to GCSE's are and what year they begin studying for them in Oz? I have noticed that some schools have only years 8-10 and then others 11 and 12 but then some schools do from kindy right through to yr12, does this mean that years 11 and 12 are not compulsory in Oz? Lastly if anybody lives in or has any connections with people in the Mandurah area i would be really grateful of opinions on schools in that area Primary and Secondary, i have looked to see if the schools are rated officially like Ofsted in the UK but can't find any info. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mel and Chris. :chatterbox:
