  1. Hi guys, can anyone help please, we've been told that my stepdaughter who isn't coming to Aus with us needs to have a medical is this correct? Also what would happen if her mother wouldn't allow it would this effect our application? She is 13 and hubby has parental responsibility and we have her stay with us every fortnight. Can you have the medicals done on a Saturday as we both work? thanks Callie x

  3. I went and saw an IELTS tutor you can find them on tutor hunt website, He used to be an IELTS marker and he gave me some great advice on what they look for with the writing such as don't repeat a word in a sentence etc, and how to do scimming and scanning in the reading part to find the answers you are looking for. I have a GCSE B grade and even though I felt confident if I hadn't have seen the tutor I don't think I would have got the scores I did. I got W8 L8 S8 R7. There are different formats for the reading part which they change so this is the most difficult to practice for as you don't know which one you will get. Luckily I only needed 7's for our application. But would definitely recommend seeing a tutor for the tips they can give you, as you can do as much practice as you want but if your doing it wrong, or there is an easier way to help you then they can tell you. good luck Callie x

    IXP visas

Hi, has anyone else been left in the lurch by IXP visas who have gone into liquidation? if so what have you done now about getting your visa? :arghh: Callie
  13. I understand the qualification bit, but you do not require any nvqs in any subject to become a prison officer in the uk. So apart from initial training certificate which only proves you completed training which is not an official qualification how do prison officers get visas?
  14. Hi are there any Prison Officers that have successfully gained a visa with just long service for qualification points? my agent has told me my service (19 yrs) will be assessed along with any course certificates and be counted as a qualification and therefore get points for it? The wording I received is as follows: Prison Officer This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational Certificate III (e.g. NVQ Level 3), in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, applicants must have at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years in a field which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation. If employment is not post-qualification, then three additional years of highly relevant employment are required. If the qualification is not in a highly relevant field, two years of employment at an appropriate skill level, completed in the last five years which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation is required. If the applicant holds a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational Certificate II in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation, then three years of highly relevant employment is required. A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome. Any feedback gratefully received
