  1. Hi, We've chosen seven seas movecube based on having read loads of posts on here, they seem to have a good reputation. Also, we aren't taking loads of stuff, so don't need a container. We also got quotes for shipping boxes in a shared container but preferred the idea of all the items being together in a sealed unit.
  2. Hi Vicki, would love to hear how you get on. I'm yet to book my shipping but am thinking of the movecube. What size have you gone for? My concern is that i'll either have too much space or not enough and it's too early for me to start packing now. Like you, we will have a small timeframe between finishing work and leaving (2 weeks) to get everything sorted.
  3. Hi I know this topic has been covered a lot but just wondering if anyone has first-hand experience... We fly to Perth from London in a couple of months, we have brought a one-way ticket with a stopover in Singapore. As we have unvalidated visas, we've been given the 10kg migrant allowance on top of our 30kg standard allowance. Has anyone used the additional migrant allowance and had a stopover en route? My concern is that we won't be re-allowed it when we check back in at Singapore. I'm assuming that we will need to check in separately for both legs of the journey given we are in Singapore for 3 nights? Or could we check in for the complete flight at London? Would they keep hold of our checked luggage if we did that? I've never done a stopover before - only a few hours layover so not sure if the rules are the same?
  4. Hi samdom1 We move out a couple of weeks before you and are experiencing similar things. Some of our friends are in touch more, want to see us more, making the most of the time we have left together. Others are already starting to distance themselves - this goes for family too. I have been very careful to not discuss our move with people because when we first approached the subject 18 months ago, it went down like a lead balloon! So, we've made sure we've shared information but not gone on and on about our plans and "new life" etc. I think it's the same with family and friends, they don't know how to deal with it. Some will really miss you, others will think you are selfish, some will be envious, or worse jealous! But we spend our lives evolving and friends will always come and go - it just takes big milestones in your life to find out which ones are true. As upsetting as it is for you to be experiencing this with old friends who you thought you were close to - you have a huge change coming up and plenty of other things to spend your time thinking and worrying about!
  5. We are flying with Singapore Airlines and get an extra 10kg migrant allowance (one-way, unvalidated visa). I just emailed their customer service after booking the flight and they confirmed that we will get it upon check out. So, that's a total 40kg check in luggage plus 7kg hand luggage.
  6. Hi Drewe, Just jumped on this thread so excuse me if you've already mentioned this. How difficult was it to find employment prior to getting your grade A? It would seem most electricial jobs are for Grade A licence holders and not provisional?
