    Losing hope :(

Feeling a bit more with it after conversation with agent. he is nervous about applying for visa because of the 10 points for qualifications & not got the 1 yr experience in Oz. he is making contacts for us with recruitment agents & plumbing companies to see if oh could get a job offer if he went out on his own on a temporary visa first. NZ was also mentioned as this was our second choice and it does seem a lot easier if we went there, so that's in our minds now aswell.

    Losing hope :(

Thanks for advise. our agent is registered and is very helpful I just think because it's taken so long and things keep on changing I've lost track on things. we are going for the state sponsorship visa unless oh gets 8 in the ielts (fingers crossed) then Independant visa. speaking to the agent tonight (as in NZ) so hopefully clear everything up then. will keep informed
  4. We started out migration process well over 2yrs ago. My oh is a general plumber with nearly 7yrs experience (self employed). He has completed his Vetassess, he has done one ielts test but lost out of two 1/2 points so is resetting next week. He has to do the ielts to get our points up. He did a GAP course with Downunder Tradies which gave him his Australian context training for some reason our agent is abit unsure whether we'll be given the 10 points for oh qualifications/experience. But Vetassess have passed him? ive kind of lost track on which visas to go for. We've sent emails to around 20 plumbing companies for any vacancies to complete his 12 month experience in Oz or advice but no replies as of yet (which is what I thought would happen) i think the main fear now is when we apply for our visa , they won't give all the points and we lose all our money I'm after any advise/reassurance Also, I current work as cabin crew. If we get to Oz I have no idea what job I would do. We have two children who will be at school. Is it worth me training in the uk for anything? thanks in advance
  5. His experience of over 6 yrs is after he qualified.
  6. Yes he his. It's just the visa cost I was querying. Surely, is you pass all the stuff like Vetassess and ielts you should be ok for the visa?
  7. Happy New Year my oh is a general plumber (self employed) with over 6yrs experience, he qualified with city & guilds. He has past the Vetassess stage and has done 1 ielts test (but 1/2 a point too low on 2 tests) he has another booked for 1 February. We are using an agent for the migration process. The agent wasn't 100% sure if my oh's experience/qualifications would get the 10'points we needed. He has spoken to Vetassess and another agent and they have said yes all ok, just abit unsettled that he doubted it this far along. my main question is, if we put our visa application in can they say my oh needs more experience/qualifications? And if we are refused do we lose all of our money? thanks in advance
  8. My Oh is a general plumber and has passed Vetassess. He's booked for his Ielts test next month. In the mean time just wondered if anyone has got any pointers/contacts for any plumbing companies/organisations he could get in touch with in regards to sponsorship (I know its probably a chance in a million but worth a try!)? We're not bothered where we get to go in Oz. thanks in advance

    What next?

Hi not been on here in a while. hubby has just heard he's passed all the Vetassess (he's a general plumber) he needs to do the IELTS to get his points up (his sister lives in Sydney but can't claim her points) , does he do the academic test or general and what score will he need? and do we have to wait for him to pass this before we apply for the visa? thanks in advance
  10. Hi i literally came across it on Sunday. I'm still looking into things. i've sent emails to the majority of oz airlines with a covering letter. my hubby is currently awaiting his practical test at Vettassess (sept) as he is a plumber so want to explore other options to us aswell. regards
  11. This occupation is on the list. Does anyone have any advise on what steps to take next, I've been in this job for 12 yrs. i've emailed Vettassess as they are the assessing authority but can't find any info on their website. i've emailed the major airlines today with my cv/resume. thanks in advance
  12. Hi there HB has passed stage 1 of vetassess (plumber) and our agent wants him to do stage 2 asap. The next available date is end of May but is in Belfast. No problem really, but does anyone know the address where the practical takes place? I've sent an email to agent but he's in NZ so time difference is issue. I'm wanting to book flights & hotel asap as payment cut off date is next week. thanks in advance
  13. We are coming over to Sydney next month for 4 weeks (mainly to see family) I'm a general domestic plumber and just about to put my vetasses lodgment in. would it be worth while emailing plumbing companies around the area I'm staying in to ie. see if there are any vacancies/f I could spend a day with a plumber to gauge the difference in equipment etc? regards Den
  14. Hi there Just a quick question as our migrant agent is 12hrs ahead (I have sent an email to him aswell). I am currently gathering all my hubby's paperwork which is needed to be sent to the agent for certification, he has asked for the originals. (sorry if I sound thick, just want to get it right) Does this mean no copies? I can send all original photos, its just that some of my hubbies invoices/receipts are from this current years accounting. We have had his certficates copied and certified by our solicitor, so will this do? thanks in advance
  15. Hi thanks for the reply. We've signed with a reputable company/agent who have been great so far. Just finding the whole process very long winded. Determined to get there though so no giving in, you only live once!
  16. Hi there, my family and I are at the beginning of the whole migration process. My hubby is a plumber (over 5yrs experience) I am cabin crew for a uk airline and we have two children (5 & 6 yrs). We have signed up to a migrant agent and are currently sending info/paperwork ready to be lodged for the Vetasses. My hubby's sister lives about an hr outside of Sydney and because of this we do not get the points for her being there!! So hubby now has to do the IELTS test (any pointers there would be appreciated!) We have been to Oz twice before and are coming again in March for 4 weeks, mainly to see family but also to have a good look round at things. If anyone has any pointers/advice on what we could do whilst there to assist the process, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
