  1. Very aggressively argued, but their is No NEED to criticize others forum members who are also just stating their OPINION your statements are also just OPINION. If the law changes thankfully you will not be able to do anything about it.
  2. I have just had a quote for the smallest move cube which holds 18 large boxes and that was £420 plus the Aquis fee of $249 thats door to door, Warrington, cheshire to Perth WA.
  3. Hi I asked and was quite surprised that the weight limit is the same for all three sizes, so even the small one that holds 18 large boxes is 1500kgs! my OH thought id made a mistake, but its right.
  4. Thanks Lizzy, did you contact by phone or email? maybe they just dont do email or its gone to span and I missed it. I think what you packed sounds exactly like what we what to pack. Mostly boxes we will only need the small one really, as we are only going for 4 years and OH would go with nothing but 2 suitcase between us ! MEN !
  5. Hi everyone I have emailed this company twice now asking for a quote and a few questions they have not got back to me at all. This makes me worry that they are a shower of s..te, and what would they vbe like if things went wrong . Why do companys who want work so this? its so unproffesional? However I see that some of you are using them and have used them with no probs and I am will give it another go ringing this time. What weight limit do the cubes have does anybody know? I have honestly found out more from you guys on here than on their website which is a bit crap really. Any help be appreciater
  6. WOW ! thats a Big baby Angie! LOL He has such beautiful soulful eyes, bet they are hard to say NO to. x
  7. Thankyou flyingscot, it is great to hear from someone who has gone through this already, and it is very reassuring, so glad you chose to share your experience and tips, its like a manual of how to do it right! I wiill certainly be refering to your post in the near future, when I have to go through the process with my little Jess.
  8. Yes Candy girl, Bob from Petair sent me a link to a lovely lady called Karen who I think is Aus walks or something like that,I think for $80 a week they will take them treats and a toy and walk them and spend time doing what ever you think your dog would like best. I think it will be well worth the money given how much it will have cost to even get to that point! , they will even take photos of them and send them to you , how good is that? I think they must really like dogs to do it because once they have paid for gas to get there, its not much for 4 hours work is it? especially in Austrialia. If they dont close Byford I would consider living near the station, so I could do that job! Still hoping and hoping it will not close or they would bring in the 10 days quarrantine, I would consider leaving my girl at home with my son a little longer, to take advantage of that, even though I would miss her dreadfully , I think it would be better for her in the long run. Fingers crossed x
  9. Oh b....ger, not any time soon then, as apparently even once announced it will be 7 months before it comes in to force. so summer 2014 at the earliest then? Gutted as Byford is likely closing for good, and was hoping for some good news...
  10. I have heard its not going to re -open, and I am gutted, its going to add at least another £500 to the quote and I will not be able to visit my girl while she is in Jail. I am worried she will be devastated and think she has been dumped again (been in rescue twice in her short 3 years). I promised her when I adopted her, that she would never go through it again and would have a home forever with me, and I will keep that promise but the thought of her going to Sydney is breaking my heart. Do hope Richard finds out something.
  11. Really enjoyed reading the replies, Its lovely to hear from all you who have already done this and are now enjoying life down under. Thanks everyone for sharing.
  12. My avatar is Jess our little rescue dog nearly year since we picked her. she had fun in the snow whilst we were in Perth doing our recci in January. She comes out to Oz after us in August and by the time she clears quarrantine we will have been apart for three months as we fly out in mid June. God I'm gonna miss the little curly Ginger girl. Dreading her having to do her time in Sydney now that Byford is closing, as I will be in Perth and unable to visit her.Thank god for those lovely ladies who will visit them, they are Angels to do for the money they get. Bless em.
  13. Hi We are flying to Perth on June 16th to start our Austrailian Adventure , and i'm busy planning the week before goodbye party. Lots of friends and relatives all kept requesting a chance to see us and wish us luck and bonvoyage before we go and this seemed the only sensible way to fit them all in! We are not really center of attention party people, both myself and my husband tend to squirm at the thought, so we have never had anything more than informal house parties for special birthdays anniversarys, we tend to sneak off somewhere nice to celebrate, so this is gonna be hard on a number of fronts because the goodbyes are gonna really hard. Well Ive ordered the bunting, flags, inflatable kangas and obligatory hats with corks , such a cliche I know but there will be plenty beer for the fellas and wine for the Sheila's (there will incidentley be at least one lady actually called Sheila and a dog called Bruce so the theme is safe!) ahaha! Anybody out there want to share there experience of the final farewel party ? did you get a good send off? We are hoping for good weather so we can Barbie in the garden intrue Oz style but gazebos are a blessing in the English summer.! love to hear from you party animals out there, or did you all just sneak off quietly???
  14. Thanks Savitar , thats very interesting, at least I know I am not the only one to be scammed. Customer service is appalling at Emirates , think its a Dubai thing to be honest , I have experienced the same with hotels in Dubai, its like they are doing you a favour just replying! But TBH I blame ANZ they shoudnt be pushing something thats not actually achievable, as I wouldnt feel cheated if they hadnt built up my expectations.
  15. I am moved by how lovely and helpful the folks on this forum are, kindness by strangers is a wonderful thing, and one of the real benefits of a group support network like this. We are moving out to Perth in June , and I have always looked more into the downside of the move than the up and made myself read posts like yours so that i have realistic expectations, I maybe over-think things, my husband is certain I do LOL, and this mindset can stop you from taking any chances in life, but safe options are not always better options. As I have got older I think its the things we didnt try that have caused me more regrets, than the ones we did. I wished we had had the chance to move to Oz when our children were young like yours, they would have had a wonderful outdoor life as both were water mad, but got just 2 weeks a year on holiday in the sun. Try to enjoy the time you are in Oz, and tell yourself that nothing ventured is nothing gained, if you do go back at least you gave it a go, be proud of yourself for what you have achieved. However....please consider this. It is very hard with little ones,ANYWHERE, mine are all grown up and gone , but when I was at your stage in life we only moved a couple of hundred miles away within the UK from our families and I was incredibly home sick, and depressed. I think now looking back that it was just a stage in my life when I need the extra support of the unconditional love that only family and old friends give, and that the feelings you are having would probaly be similiar if you had stayed in the UK but had to move away to find work, rather than a problem with Austrailia itself. Life throws challenges at us, but I can tell you when you look back it will be with fondness at this period, even though at the moment you are sad. My exile years with two little ones were spent in rainy Cumbria, in a very insular village, where looking at knitting patterns in the village shop was a highlight of the day, so count your blessings! Lol . But seriously hang on in, I am sure it will work out for the best in the end. Good Luck with whatever you decide. x
  16. Thats sounds really good value, thanks lots of useful suggestions. Much better than paying Emirates a fortune in excess baggage! We are renting furnished for 3 months so luckily have the luxury of being able to wait for the non urgent stuff to arrive.
  17. Hi, could I ask was that for a move cube with seven seas? I found it difficult to do a quote online as it didnt seem to give a price for each size move cube just individual boxes , bike boxes and items like surf boards etc? I think I might give them a ring, as I believe you must FILL the cube up I suppose that is to prevent things moving around and getting damaged.
  18. Sorry Gunga , what I wrote sounds a bit harsh, but I couldnt delete it. I should remember what me old mum used to say 'if you cant say anything nice dont say anything!' Of course your entitled to your opinion. FYI though I dont have any C***P, and anyways C***P is very expensive in Perth !
  19. Hi When we recently opened a bank account with ANZ they told me about Emirates giving an extra baggage allowance to people migrating on one way tickets. I was led to believe that it would be 45 kgs instead of the usual 30Kgs. We recieved our tickets and its only 30KGS, when I contacted Emirates to ask they say they havnt included free extra luggage weight since 2007! I dont understand why the bank would mention this only last month, and I am sure I have heard people on here saying they have had it, but then I'm not sure how long ago they were refering to. Has anybody had it recently or did you have to pay for extra at 30% discount as I have been quoted?
  20. Thank You to those who offered helpful suggestions, I will look into them. Gungadin, When one day you Grow UP, you too might actually own something that means more to you than the cost of shipping it, untill you do your view is not really valid or particularly helpful.
  21. Hi I am having a mega melt down now ,:arghh: after waiting ages we are finally in possesion of a one way ticket to Perth from Manchester mid June and I am panicking now over how to get the items I want to ship out there. We are not taking any furniture, as we are only on a 4 year visa and still have our house in UK so we just want to ship a couple of foldable bikes, and some boxes with bedding towels, small sentimental items like photos etc, and extra clothes shoes and some small electrical items and bits of kitchen stuff I cant bear to leave behind. I did get a quote but it was from a company in London and although reasonable we had to pay extra to get the boxes up north and extra to have them collected and taken back down south. Is this how all companies work, or are there some that operate this service from the North? Can anyone offer any advice or have moved from out of the area where most of these companies are based in the south ? Or is it better to go groupage route? If so anybody moving from Warrington soon? ha ha
  22. Thanks Bob for reassuring me I am doing all I can at the moment. Its just that you get in a panic thinking about all that can go wrong and I was worried about backlogs and spaces etc..... Keeps me awake and it helps to write it doen I guess. I will give your regards to my brilliant vet Potts when we get the blood work done next Wed and be in touch very soon.
  23. Oh oh , my , my! My dog has never slept outside in her tiny pampered life. As we speak she is cozy in her fleecy bed cocooned under a blanky it's cold in northern England in early March, ha ha, but then it is hot in Perth so maybe..... Seriously is that what you have to say to get a rental when you have a dog??? Do the landlords buy it? I do not know anyone in Uk whose dog sleeps outdoors , are they really going to adhere to that rule?
  24. Hi Bob I have had a quote from louise,( I am the lady whose vet is a friend of yours from vet school )and will contact you to get ball rolling ASAP, but My question is how is Byford for space around mid August? I have not given you the go ahead yet because our visa is still being processed and I figured I would wait till we have that in our sticky paws first before I book my little furry on a flight to the other side of world! My dog is due for her rabies blood test on 13/3 so we are hoping she can travel to join us in Perth mid Aug which will mean leaving her in uk as we will hopefully be leaving for Perth mid May because it's all happened very quick for us. But I am getting worried about quarantine spaces, as I will have been separated from her 3 months if we go out in May subject to visa. I can't bear to think we would be risking delaying her further by not getting her place booked. What would you advise? I hope this question will be some help to anyone else planning Byford soon. Thanks
