  1. Hey guys, haven't been on here for a while, been busy preparing for the big move, selling, sorting and saving lol!

By the sounds of things it all seems to be going great for everyone, the grants seem to be coming along nicely, that's what we like to hear, it a matter of weeks now for us t get our grant, it's so exciting hey, well good luck to everyone else, i'l keep you guys updated with our grant, does anyone have a link for the spreadsheet to show us what date we applied please?

See post6524 on pg 653, on my ph at the mo and don't know how to copy and paste link,

  2. Completed spouse visa application 28th August. I was under the impression that it would take 5 months to process and then was told 8-9 months which means May or June 2013! We had planned to move at Christmas however have now booked flights for the start of Feb 2013. My husband will enter on a tourist visa. Due to the time lag his prospective employer is going to push through a 457 visa sponsorship so he can start working straight away. Can anyone tell me why there needs to be an 8-9 month wait? The 457 visas are processed in 1-3 months. The CO has already told us everything required has been submitted. Paid a hefty fee...why the delay? Surely €1500 covers and administrators time? I note they intend to significantly increase the visa processing fees for 2013.

Apparently they have a quota they can grant, and due to the high levels of applications the granting time was extended on july 1st. We are still better off than the bangkok applicants who have a 12 month waiting time.

  3. Hi guys, finally got around to posting in our application

Here's our timeline - does anyone know if there's still an excel document going around?

05/11/2012 - Posted to Aust House

    07/11/2012 - Payment taken

    08/11/2012 - Case officer assigned - SV

    10/11/2012 - Documents returned

...and now we wait. ETA 8/9 months. SV did get our email incorrect, so didn't realise we'd been assigned until we got the parcel with a print out of the email...with the wrong address (?!?) have now emailed her with the correct email and hope there won't be any further hiccups.

    Good luck everyone x

  4. Hi, been reading this thread for ages now. Finally submitted on the 28/05/2012 with a 5-6 month wait period, so we finally coming close to the date for an end to the waiting.

It occurred to me yesterday, upon being asked by my OH, that I may be assuming, since we have not been asked for further information since the medicals, that the granting is a forgone conclusion. Am I being naive in this? Does anybody know of an occasion where an applicant was waiting only to then be informed the application had been rejected? I assume they would have rejected earlier if they were going to. Please tell me I'm right.

Also, happened to read the first page of replies on this thread, back when it started, early 2009, people were waiting only a month. It would make you cry :)

Hi, I asked this same question a few months ago. The reply I got was pretty much that if they have an issue they will ask for further info to give you the best chance for a grant. And once you receive 'no further info required' email, then it's just a matter of waiting. I have been reading this thread for about 6 months, during which time I haven't heard/read of any refusals. I could be making the same assumption as you, but going from what I've seen/read it's a pretty safe conclusion.

  5. Not happy just been told visa will take 8-9 months when iv seen most people having to wait 4-5 months. Gf visa has run out so shes had to go back to sydney they drum it in to us that we have to be together for 12 months to be able to apply then split us up for 9 months wot a joke!!!

anyone who applied before July 1st, was given a waiting time of 5-6 months, and those who applied on or after july 1st were given 8-9 months waiting. it's to do with the numbers applying. They can only grant so many a day, and as more and more apply the waiting list gets longer and longer. Had we applied when we initially had planned to it would have been a 3-4 month wait. yes it sucks, but thats life, alot of aussies are wanting to go home, and want to bring their husbands/wives with them.

ETA: those who apply through Bangkok are being given a 12 month wait!

  6. Hi everyone!

I've got a question for those of you who are slightly further through the process than I am. How long was it from when you completed your medicals to being told that it was all clear? I did my medical at the end of August (5 weeks ago) but I haven't heard anything from my case officer to tell me that he has received them.

So, did you hear anything official from your case officer following your medical and if so, how long did it take? Also, I keep reading about a "no further information required" letter - or at least I think I have. Does everyone receive this and is this the way that you know your medical has passed? I think I'm starting to panic because 5 weeks seems like an awfully long time...

    Thank you all!

    KT

We applied mid June, CO was appointed on 20th June, Medical was completed on 29th June, Police cert sent around July 10th.

We got our 'no further info required letter' on 17 July. We were never told if OH had 'passed' the medical or police check, but we weren't asked for any further info or clarification on anything, so taking it to mean he passed. Now all we have to do is wait.

best of luck with the wait

  7. Im thinking its looking like closer to the 6mnth mark than the 5mnth. Its interesting to me that they only issue a few a day. I also find it a bit stange that there seems to be some start of May applicants approved and there is still earlier applicants waiting. I was under the impression that they are in order of date of lodgement. Patience was never something I was blessed with.

Seems a bit slow this week, havn't seen any approvals on here.

I find it strange that they limit them when they can't cap them, effectively limiting them is capping.

As for May applicants being granted before all April applicants are granted, I think this is due to case officers. I think they each get a pile and work through them at their own rate, not making up for missed days, and having none granted on those days. So If like us you have a CO who has had holidays and been off sick, this will push your grant date further back. I wouldn't put money on our visa being granted before or on the 6 month mark. Not sure if this is the case, but it seems to be.

  8. Hi all. I have a quick question, although not directly related to getting our spouse visa, it's connected.

What's the story with centerlink payments, particularly parenting payments, rent assist, and the child tax A and B payments??? From filling out the visa application form I have some recollection of reading that the applicant can't receive any payments for 2yrs, but can the sponsor??? After having read some threads about failed migrations I've begun to freak out a bit that we won't make it, and don't fancy returning to Ireland broke with 5 kids. So I have spent the evening looking through the payments available, and with them there as back-up I know we'll do it, but just wondering has anyone any experience of claiming any payments???

Thanks for all the help

  9. Sounds very similar to my case - together 9 years, married 2, 1 year old. Got a permanent visa straight off. Sounds like you'd be a likely candidate too.

Don't stress about the evidence. I missed out some evidence and they simply requested specific extra stuff from me, no worries. Good luck!

when did they ask for the extra stuff? was it at the beginning when you submitted, or closer to the grant date? We're married 12 yrs and have 5 kids, so no doubt as to being a 'genuine relationship'. Just curious though that every one just sends their stuff off and gets an email saying all is fine, it will be granted in 6-9 months. If they can say it 'will be granted', why not just grant it? (teehee guess who hates waiting?)

  10. Next step is apply for his passport, anyone know how much it costs? I did google, honestly!

Its all starting to get a bit more real now!

I did all this for my 5 girls about 2 yrs ago. I got their 5 passports and mine all done together, and don't recall it costing too much, I think I thought it was cheaper, or at least easier than getting them Irish passport.

  12. Hellooo

I have hardly had any communication with him as I didn't want to hassle him but I've sort of taken this as the green light that we're all good to go and it's now just a case of waiting... is it silly for me to assume this?! I just figured if there was a problem with the application we would have been interviewed or asked to comment on the problems.

I am thinking the same way, no news is good news. But I am also wondering has anybody been refused, for the spouse visa that is. I could understand the prospective marriage visa been refused, but has anyone married with kids been refused? We have another 3-4 months to wait, and it's beginning to worry me, I'm not good with sitting back and waiting, I prefer to take a proactive approach and do something, but this is in the laps of the 'visa gods' :arghh:
