  1. Nickos, did you already take your police check? I thought those were referred a bit later on at the moment? I ask because I applied earlier than you did but haven't been requested any police checks nor had a message telling me the same thing as you (though we had some further evidence required which has been sent on). Bit confused here.

Each CO is different, some ask for stuff sooner, some tell you if you are going to get PR, and others just say 'we have what we need, I'll be uiin contact in a few months'. We had no contact from our CO once she had what she needed. About a month after Visa was granted she returned all our stuff. Others have had there stuff returned before granting. So don't worry what others get told or asked for. Good luck with the waiting :)

  2. Hi all,

I read on other forums that the partner visa process can take up to 12 months though!! So am I slightly worried now that he is just saying things to make me happy! lol

That may be times for other offices such as the Asian/Mid-Eastern Office, not sure off top of my head where it's based, but theree is a thread on here saying they are 12-13 months waiting for grants.

  3. And that's the only explanation that I could come up with. Is there a tactful way of finding out where in my CO's list I fall?

I am sure it will, it's just frustrating that the ideal grant time for me would be late Feb/early March and I can't have it until mid April, when others applying after me get theirs late Jan/early Feb. I don't think it would pay to ask for a quicker CO, in fact I think that we be quite insulting to the one dealing with my application. But I am crossing all fingers something goes my way soon!!!

All I could suggest is to look at the spreadsheet and see how your CO has been granting. Read the thread here and keep an eye out for your CO.

  4. I passed the 6 month mark last week. That's fine as I was told 9 months and this was repeated to me a few weeks ago when I phoned, perfectly happy to accept that. But in the time since then, to see people granted theirs before me when they've applied after me suggests they're not in a chronological order as is explained over the phone. Fantastic for those lucky enough to be granted, not so great for the ones who are overlooked and overtaken. I fall into the latter category.

Exactly what I was told. If having flights booked qualifies as "special circumstances" then fair enough... otherwise it's frustrating.[/color]

They are granted in the chronological order in which they land on your CO's table. the thing with it is that some CO are faster than others, some have holidays (during which none are granted), some are off sick (falling behind on grants). Some grant for time in advance (as AB did in the first week of dec.) I had a CO who had 2 holidays and was off sick during our 6 month wait. had I not called her when I did, our grant wouldn't have come until early Jan, which would have been almost 7 months. It's the luck of the draw as to which CO you get. It will come.

  5. Congratulations Kellogg's, I'm a little bitter because I was told mid December and I applied in June. Guess what I'm still waiting. Getting more upset by the day. I hope it's not much longer x

Have you phoned your CO? I really think that phone call makes a huge difference to getting it granted. It is very unfair how some CO's are well ahead while others are so far behind, I feel your pain and frustration. Hopefully you'll have it very soon.

  6. Am not a happy camper right now

Just spoke to our CO. She is going on leave in 2 days time, and will not have hubbies visa granted until January, unless we ring her tomorrow with flight.

So AH is closed until Jan 2nd , (according to post 6623 of this thread), which will mean our visa won't be granted until that week at least, pushing it to 6 and a half months, when we were told 5-6. Needless to say I am fuming atm!

I don't know what bothers me more, waiting longer than told, or the fact that she said if i book flights today she will jump us up the queue??? Perhaps if she hadn't jumped others up the queue we would be granted now???

On the up side she did say he WILL be granted.

  7. It was driving me nuts too so I contacted my case officer VF to ask if she would grant my visa before AH closes on 21st and she said "yes contact me again the week starting 17th." So by the time i get my visa it will have taken the full 6 months.

We emailed our CO last week, and were told " as advised before your visa will be granted around 6 months after lodgement date", which is bugging me to no end as it seems that all the other CO's are saying 'next week' or on a set date. to make it worse 6months is the day before they close for christmas, so if she doesn't grant then, it will be closer to 7 months by the time she grants. It's really frustrating.

  8. Fantastic news, well done. Tis nice how it worked out.

I wonder how many more June applicants are out there waiting? anyone else got any good news pending?

    Best.

We're still waiting. according to the ss there are 5 before us still waiting, 2 have AB, but aren't active users so I'm assuming they have been granted, just not updated, 2 others aren't active users either. 6 after us have been granted, and I am beginning to go a little nuts . Today puts us at 5 months, 2 weeks and 4 days. All we have been told in 'closer to 6 months'. This is the most frustrating wait I have ever endured.

  9. this wait is the worst! we are now at 5 months 2 weeks and 1 day from CO being assigned, and still nothing:cry:. When we emailed we were told 'as previously advised' granting will be closer to 6 months:unsure:. Last email we got said 5-6 months, and that email was in July. It's so frustrating to see so many here email and be given dates and 'next week' when we get 'closer to 6 months'. I feel like screaming:arghh:, every day is closer to 6 months, and still nothing coming! Grrr I hate waiting, and having my future in someone else's hands, who seems so ambivalent to our stresses and worries.

Ok rant over, thanks for listening.

  10. Yes I chased two weeks ago when I reached the 5month mark & she replied back "we are looking at the end of December."

It does suck. From what I can figure, the applications are given to CO's as they come in, and each CO then grants whats on their desk according to his/her desk only. They also have a quota which they can grant per day, and can't catch up if they are off sick or on holidays. (I could be totally wrong but this is how it appears to me.) So AB has been healthy all year ans saved his holidays for the end of the year, and is granting late June applicants now. As for my CO, she was off sick and had holidays earlier in the year, and as suck she is running later on her grants. So when Australian house say they are granted in the order they are recieved, this is not so true, really they are granted in the order they hit the CO's desk irrespective of when other CO's are granting. When we chased her up last week we were told 'closer to the 6 months from application'. Her last grant on the SS was 164 days, so I am hoping Tuesday will be our day.

On the other side, in an attempt to keep my mind of the grant, I have all my chrissie shopping done, and cards written.

  11. Hi All,

I sent my application on 16th June. CO (SV) appointed on 21st June and was told 5-6 months. Just passed the 5 months mark.

I just want to ask from you guys, How they granted the visa? I mean whether i have to send the passport to visa office ? or they issue a visa card?

    Thanks

Hi, we are the day before you, and also have SV. As far as I know it's all done electronically, they input your details on their computer and when you go through the passport check it comes up on their screen that you have your visa. All you get is the letter or email saying it's been granted.

  12. They should have just told us June applicants it will be 6 months then we would never have got our hopes up for 5 :( I thought though they have to grant in the the time frame stated so the latest it could be is around your 6 month date unless you have issues with your application. So for us around the mid June mark it should be mid December latest. Anyone know if that is the case?

Unfortunately the time frame is only a guideline :-( so when they say 5-6 months it could be more or less due to holidays ir sick leave etc
