  1. hi josh, Welcome to PIO . I don`t think TRA will contact you without filling in the proper paperwork first as they are busy with other cases. As i said in my last post you might have to sit IELTS plus have meds and police checks done. If your serious about moving to OZ i would highly recommend an agent that way they can guide you on what visa best suits you and what you will have to do to accomplish your visa. I am also a qualified landscaper as well as having specialist qualifications such as pesticide spraying , arbor etc so if you have them they would be worth adding as well. To get to the TRA stage there is lots of paperwork required before that, few years payslips, proof of British citizenship etc. so get all that done first (through an agent) and go from there. All the best in your future and if you want it that much you can achieve it:smile::smile: regards landscaper81
  2. Hi gardener Alf, That would be good to keep in contact with yourself. A 176 visa is a state sponsorship, which means i must stay in the state (WA) for 2 years. Then after that i can move anywhere in Australia and apply for citizenship if i choose. the TRA (Trade Recognition Australia) are the people that i must send my skills and qualifications to be assessed to make sure i am capable and meet the required standard set by Australia. Some stuff on the forms is quite tricky so i would recommend an agent for it for that extra info. The IELTS is the English test (don`t panic) that you have to sit, i sat it at my local university. it consists of four parts....reading,writing,listening and speaking. It`s a way the Australian government make sure that you can speak , understand and write English in the country.. i needed it with my type of visa, so i don`t know how it goes with other visas. I will pm you details of visa agents etc that you might need/want to know.
  3. welcome gardener alf, I myself am a landscape gardener, and applied for a 176 visa to WA on SEPT `11 and was granted it on JULY `12 . The process seemed like ages but in the end up it was worth it. Once i got an immigration agent i filled in the appropriate forms and sent them off. I had to sit IELTS (which required a score of 7 or above which i got a 8:biggrin:9 is the highest). After that i had to sent my qualifications away to TRA and they assessed all my qualifications. Once they were assessed and granted i applied to the Australian government I then went for my MEDS & have police checks done which were done in Manchester (£100 cheaper) and was granted my visa . The TRA part was probably the hardest part as they ask for a lot of detail (eg: the size/type of screw used and why). I hope this help a bit and good luck with it in the future.
  4. Hi Andrew, Once again thank you for great information. i will have look around and see what is available when i get to WA . I Really am unsure on what to do as i don`t want to leave my money back here in Britain . I will have a deep think about it and will be back in touch with more questions. once again thank you for you kind words and information, its people like yourself that make the big move to OZ that wee bit easier. regards tony
  5. Hi Andrew, Just read your posts and they have great information in them.:notworthy::notworthy: I will hopefully be joining the world of oz very soon , once i sell my house back here in Scotland. I currently work with my local government and have quite a good pension scheme (strathclyde pension fund). i have approx 15 years worth of pension to transfer over and was wondering if you can recommend any good Australian pension schemes and how do the employers work towards pensions, ie do they pay in percentages of salaries or is it fixed rates etc. Any help in this matter or any information regarding pensions would be great . regards tony
  6. That s great you have re-booked it , at least you will know what to expect second time round, i found that some of the past papers on the IELTS website or just Google practice IELTS papers did help. Also if you know someone who is a teacher or in that line of work then why not ask them to look over your writing, reading or even try your speaking with them and see if they can teach you certain methods . Good luck
  7. Thanks ade72, i take it your either a landscaper or arborist  lol thats great as i just recently bought a new sthil chainsaw so i didn't want to sell it and hope that i could reuse the trimmers/mower over there in Perth WA. regards tony
  8. Hi guys/girls, i was been granted my 176 visa at the tail-end of July there, i am a landscape gardener and was wondering if i would be allowed to take my machinery to oz with the rest of my household goods, i have petrol strimmers, lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws etc. I know Australian customs are quite strict with outdoor equipment( even washed down) and was just wondering if i would need to sell them or can i take them with me. Thanks in advance to any information i receive in this matter.
