  1. I just wanted to say, don't you just love it when you go into poms in oz and a 489 visa grant post is at the top of the list and you don't have to look through pages of posts to find the most recent one  There is not that many of us compared to the 189 and 190 lot so sometimes it feels like not much is happening in the 489 camp!
  2. Oh my goodness, that was such a long wait you had.... You must be over the moon that it has finally been granted. All the best with your move and hopefully it will go more smoothly than the visa process!
  3. I hope you are right! My son is hoping that we get it before the schools go back as I told him if we have it by then he doesn't need to go back to school lol! We are planning on just booking flights as soon as we get the visa
  4. Congratulations....it's nice to see some 489 visas being granted. It also gives me some hope that they will get to May applicants soon!
  5. Congratulations! do you mind sharing when you applied for the visa? Also, was it state sponsored or family sponsored?
  6. Congratulations....we will be the same and book our flights as soon as we get the visa through! It feels good to see some 489ers get there visa grants. I don't know how you managed to wait since Jan without spontaneously combusting
  7. Does anyone know if the state you are sponsored by has any effect on how quickly you get your visa grant or does it just go on the date you submitted your application?
  8. I have noticed that a few 190 visas have been granted for March applicants so hopefully it won't be long pickle0406  However, I don't know if the 190 visas get granted on the same time frame as the 489 visas....fingers crossed we start seeing some 489 grants!
  9. I haven't heard a peep since we submitted our application. However, we only applied on 12th May so have a feeling we are at the bottom of the pile waiting to be processed!
  10. Well looks like we are all in the same boat as we applied on the 12th May (front loaded medicals and police checks) and haven't heard anything. After looking on POI at all of the delay emails people were getting, I have not been expecting to hear anything until at least July. We are also hoping to head out in August if we get the visa through in time as we don't really want to have to stick our son back in school after the holidays for a few weeks. We have applied for WA state sponsorship so looking to head to the Bunbury area.
  11. I've only been waiting since May and the wait is killing me already lol! As you say, hopefully come the start of July, things will start moving Which state have you been sponsored by? We are WA and hopefully heading to Bunbury as soon as we get the visa.
  12. My husband needs to get a reference number for his AQF (which was awarded about a week and a half ago) so that he can submit his TRA application. He has tried replying to the address that the confirmation that he was successful with his AQF came from but it just bounces back. He has also tried emailing the guy we went through to get the AQF (Darren leake) but he has not replied either! Anyone know how we can get it so that we can get the TRA application in? We are now really short on time to get the visa before my husband turns 40 in November and loses 10 points so need to get this ASAP. My husband had submitted his skills assessment last year but it was unsuccessful due to a problem with his qualification. So, he paid £2000 to do the AQF, which was only supposed to take between 2-8 weeks. There was apparently a backlog at the assessor and it ended up taking about 25 weeks and now we are worried it has been a waste of time and money as we are now unlikely to get it all done and asked to apply before he turns 40 on 21st November. Any advice would be very much appreciated. thanks, wendy
  13. Hi Nikkiwd, thanks for the advice, I will tell my husband to check the forms for any changes. I can't believe it is $1000 now....what a rip off! Hopefully, it will be quicker than the 5 months it took last time as my husband turns 40 in November and would lose 10 points.....which would mean resitting the IELTs to get more points (my husband's written English isn't the best as he was brought up in Germany).
  14. Hi everyone, My husband had an unsuccessful outcome from TRA at the end of last year as the Army messed up his qualification as a Fitter. He applied for an AQF III which was supposed to take between 2 - 8 weeks but ended up taking over 20 as there was a backlog at the assessor! We are now about to apply for the skills assessment again but our agent said we need to go through vetassess now. I checked with vetassess to make sure as our agent has not been the most reliable (probably would have our visa by now if it wasn't for their mess ups!). We got an email back from vetassess stating that because my husband now has a formal Australian qualification he can go through either TRA or vetassess. I think we are going to do it through TRA again as they seem to be quicker than vetassess at the moment and my husband has already filled in all of the TRA forms last time. I noticed a few people had commented that the cost had gone up....my husband paid about £400 last time. Is it a lot more expensive now and does he need to do a practical? He didn't have to do a practical for the last application.
