  1. Hello all

we are about to do an EoI - for nursing

We have a solid 60 points based on qualifications, IELTS, & age. My wife is the applicant, and has loads of experinec, but we think we kight just miss out on getting points for experinec as she has been part time, and I gather time off on maternity leave isn't counted

We just wanted to know if:

60 points is good enough to be invited to apply?

and whether it's best to avoud risking adding points for experince if it might fall ust shy of the 20 hours per week limit.

    any info much appeciated!

    Thanks

    Matthew & Nicola

    Hi Matthew & Nicola,

I think it'd be worth starting a new thread to open your question up to the entire forum. We applied with just 60 points and was invited to apply within the next round of invitations. I'm not sure about your questions regarding part-time employment or maternity leave however you need to be really careful not to over claim points as it can result in a refusal of your visa. If you're not sure I think it's worth getting some free initial advice from a migration agent, my experience with Go Matilda was very good although we ultimately decided to do it all ourselves.

    Good luck x

  2. I don't know how to contact them. There is no contact details available in their site for this case. However, I contacted Australian embassy in my country. They just referred me to immi website.

Have you front loaded your PCCs and medicals? If so there may be no reason for a Case Officer to contact you other than to grant your visa. I lodged my 189 on 9th June so not a long time after yourself and I haven't heard a thing. But as I have front loaded everything this is perfectly normal. In fact, I think there are very few people on the 'Lodged in June' thread who have heard from a Case Officer.

  3. Hi Shelly,

Im new to this (very helpful, almost addictive haha!)site. Hope everything's still going really well with your application process ahead of your big move. Just wondering if you could give me some steer please? Your visa application (189) and the skilled occupation is similar to our circumstance. My husband and I are currently making our way through copious amounts of reading about immigrating (this is something that we have wanted to do for years now - should have started then really with all this reading)

Anyway we feel visa app 189 is best suited to our needs/meeting requirements etc. My husband is a plasterer currently self employed, previous to that he was a tutor of plastering. Having read through the information, we are thinking that our next (first??) step would be the TRA assessment - Is this correct?

Are these the steps (please correct me if i'm wrong)

    TRA (Skills assessment)

    Await results

    EOI

INVITE TO APPLY (during this time would you organise checks ie. Police and medical OR await for your reply???)

Hope ive not bombarded you with info and requests, its just we want to get everything right and try to do it ourselves to save money on an agent. Talking of MARAs did you have one??

    Many thanks in advanced

    Laura

    Hi Laura,

    I'm just sent you a PM x

  4. Just checked the visa tracker looks like another successful applicant got their visa today, they had a direct grant and they applied the 3rd of june ;) xx

I was just about to say exactly the same thing, another from June granted today woohoo!! Feels like I'm constantly either checking this forum, the spreadsheet, my emails or my immiaccount lol

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!! I wonder who'll be next?

  5. Could you not try the number on the immi website for people in the UK? It's the Australian High Commission in London, they have access to the online records. The telephone line is open for english speaking people from 1pm - 4pm Monday - Friday. Tel: 020 7420 3690

    http://www.immi.gov.au/Help/Locations/Pages/Service-centres/europe-service-centre.aspx

I wonder whether they may be able to confirm whether your visa application has been submitted or not??

It's not entirely clear from your post what part of the process you're actually at so this may not be any help.

    Good luck!

  6. So you've completed your visa application and paid the fee? The next stage is to upload your evidence through the Immiaccount for each applicant. Then you decide whether to front load your medicals and police checks, i.e. whether to proceed to obtain and upload meds and PCCs prior to a Case Officer requesting them. Sorry if I've missed the point of your question!

    Good luck

  7. Hi all,

    firstly great thread Shelley.

i did find this link showing allocation estimated times ....although, not completely sure if they are in regards to CO allocation.

any ways here is the link for all of you.

    https://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm

this link shows (last updated on July31st) that last allocation was for the application made on 10 march .

Wish all you folks the best of luck .

i have my concerns about the non-immigrating dependant...the 1220 seems to contain a lot of information that I cannot fill like for example estimated date of travel and blah....this is for my mother .

i however have just submitted my application on 12th august so I am guess the waiting is inevitable, if I am reading this link correctly ..

the speed at which the cases are moving can best be assessed when they update this link again by end of August...

Please do let me know if this 1220 is completely mandatory in case of a non-migrating dependant .

    thanks again folks .

    all the best

Sorry I can't help with your question Shanky. I've seen the visa estimates shown on the immi website stating 10th March (as of 31st July) but going by the spreadsheet and other posts I'm hoping that is on the very conservative side as a lot of people seem to have received grants who lodged their applications some time after 10th March. I can only hope! The website also still states that the 189 is taking 3 months to process so I'm hanging on to this and hope I'll hear in the next few weeks.

It might be worth posting a fresh thread regarding the 1220 and the 'non-immigrating dependant', it'll open your question up to more people.

    Good luck!

  8. Received the golden email yesterday (14th August). It was a direct grant!!! Phew!

    Acad IELTS Jan 14 : overall 8.0

    EOI (189): 23/4/14 Invitation:28/4/14,Visa lodged 17/5/14: Docs uploaded without form 80 Last Doc (PCC) uploaded :27/6/2014:Visa granted:14/08/2014

Wow, congratulations!! I bet you're over the moon xx

  9. Shellyk666 I see your partners a joiner, I am too. Do you know what he had to do for the skilled assessment. A friend told me it's good to know before hand what you have to do before u get there but they change it from time to time.

    Hi JJ17

There are 2 parts to the Skill Assessment, the Training and Employment Check which is paper based documentary evidence, and either the practical assessment or a technical interview. There are Fact Sheets available on the Vetassess and Victoria Uni websites along with other information specific to joiners which you should read through. My advice is that they are not trying to catch you out, if you are a practising qualified joiner you should have no problems providing you are methodical with your evidence. The first stage is to familiarise yourself with the documentary evidence they require and gather all this together (such as CV, work references worded in a way that's acceptable for this purposes, accounts records, wage slips, NVQ certificates etc). If you have any specific questions feel free to send me a PM and I'll try and help.

    Good luck

    Shelly

  10. Hey,

This is an interesting find, someone posted the link in the 190 visas lodged in July thread. It's a visa tracker where everyone can add their details and we can all see what's being granted when. It'd be great if everyone could add their details - there are separate tabs for 189s and other visas, make sure you're in the right spreadsheet.

  11. Hi guys, does anyone know how long it should take for the medical information to appear on your immi account? The medical centre we used in Edinburgh sent the details to the immigration dept on the 4th August, is it normally a couple of weeks? Also the listing of information has changed positions slightly......... I think we check too much!! ;-)

    Rich

The medical centre we used took 2 weeks to upload our results, it might be worth giving them a call to check. Otherwise you can log in to the emedical account using your HAP ID and name to see if it's been uploaded yet.

The changes in the order of documents you have uploaded (is that what you mean?) doesn't mean anything as far as I can tell. This has happened to me on the same day as uploading it so it can't have anything to do with a Case Officer.

  12. Hi Guys, Im an July 11th 190 lodger, but wanted to say, that DIAC sent an automated responce to me today saying they have adjusted a few things of my application.. nothing major, but they have or are looking it would seem:) only 4 weeks after lodgement. Again probs nothing, but I thought id share

!!!! Now that IS exciting! What kind of things were they adjusting??

After a while of there seeming to be little difference between the 189 and 190 processing times it would seem 190s are finally back to getting the priority processing they're entitled to. If only we could have met the 190 requirements....... :daydreaming:

  13. Hi Shelly,

I have been a silent follower of this thread, Our timelines are almost similar. Timelines below, Have you got any news on a CO allocation?

Positive Skill assesment: 6th May 2014 (ACS) - Onshore

    IELTS(10th May 2014) : S & R:9, L:8, W:7.5

    EOI: 24th May 2014

    Invite & Applied: 9th June 2014

Frontloaded docs incl PCC & MED: 15th June 2014

    Medicals: 27th June' 14 (Myself), 1st July 2014 (Wife & Daughter)

    CO: Waiting

    Hi

Yes our time lines are similar! No news on CO allocation unfortunately. It would seem that processing has slowed a little for 189s recently. The immi website suggests allocation of COs had only reached applications submitted on the 10th March (or something like that) but from other threads it appears that it isn't quite that bad!

  14. Hiya Shelley - my name is Sarah and I'm new to this site, I was just wondering if you used an agent or if you applied direct.. You must be feeling really excited..

    Cheers Sarah xx

    Hi Sarah,

I applied without an agent. I'm feeling excited (and a little nervous!!). Have you lodged your visa application yet

    Shelly x

  15. Please help, do I need to have all payslips and or P60 for ten years certified by a JP ? I am applying for a 189 visa. Do they all have to be colour copies ?

    Thanks

We gt a couple of pay slip from the beginning, middle and end of each period of employment. If you've been with the same place for a large number of years I would get a couple of wage slips from each year.

I haven't got any of my evidence certified by a JP, instead you can upload a colour scan of the original documents.

    Hope that helps x

  16. Thanks @hansu88 and @kellyv - so if the round closes on 25 August it is likely that they would notify successful invitations within a few days of 25/8? Presumably unsuccessful applicants get no notification and go into the next round. Based on the data on the immi website I am HOPING to get an invitation in the 25/8 round (I know it isn't guaranteed). My current visa expires 30/8 so I'm trying to work out when/whether to book flights. All my stuff is ready to submit a decision ready application once I receive an invite but it is scary how close it's going to be. I'm just trying to work out when I would find out so that if I am unsuccessful I will need to book flights back to the UK and head home while I await the invitation and processing. If I get my application in before my current visa expires then I automatically go onto a bridging visa and can stay in Aus while my 189 gets processed. In my case every day counts and I'm just trying to get as much info together as I possibly can. Thanks again for your help :)

When I got my invite it was on the day, i.e. I received an email on the 9th June (the 2nd Monday). In fact, due to the time difference I received it in the UK on the 8th June although it was the 9th June from where it was issued from. This was the case even though it was a national holiday and the immi office was closed so I assume it's an automated system.

  17. So sorry with the late reply! Just to say thanks for replying. We have got most of it all up together now just need another reference from client, tax returns and to get it all signed by a solicitor. It's taking ages!! Mostly because we look at it and think there is so much to do and don't know where to start, so we don't start! Getting there slowly.

    Thanks again. X

It is all quite daunting to begin with isn't it! But once you've got your head around everything required it's a good start. I found it helped having a big checklist and ticking things off as I went along then I kept everything together in a folder. I was so worried that I missed something but it all turned out ok in the end.

Good luck, and if there's anything else you need help with there's always someone around to chip in x

  18. Guys, i am pretty sure there is no more allocation of co, you information goes through different departments who assess each part of the application. ie.. education department, Work experience, points scored and so on.

That's interesting, thanks for sharing! Can I ask where this information was sourced from?
