  1. Hi Donna - Thanks. we are thinking NOR looks good for work reasons and also a bit more going on up there. We also have some friends living up at butler and they love it. We did think about Mandurah but think it will be a bit to far south, even though it looks beautiful down there. Where abouts are you guys thinking of moving?? I hope you get your visa through soon and everything goes well for you. It's a big move, isn't it!!! cheers Mike
  2. Hi floball, we are aiming to actually migrate before the IED, but it will depend on work and as usual money, this end. We are both in the RAF and it will all be a bit of a juggling act to try and get all the timings right, while saving as much as we can to try and have enough to live on for 6 months, just invade we can't get work straight away!! of we can't all migrate at the IED then we will be calling some friends and do a quick cheap Recce!!! Hopefully it all comes together nicely. The ironic thing is, the visa came through too Qwick.Lol. I know most people will be thinking I'm mad, but we have certain milestones of Service and next September is cutting it fine, to say the least. Anyway, a glass of bubbly tonight and then try and sort everything out in the next couple of months. Oh thanks by the way, and you Ali. Cheers Mike.
  3. Hi Everyone,I can't believe it. Our visa got granted this morning!!!!!!!! We are absolutely delighted and also a bit nervous. Everything is all of a sudden very REAL and now we have our IED of 17/09/14, it doesn't sound like a long time to sort everything out, Ahhhhh. Anyway I just wanted to put something on PIO as I have gained so much invaluable information from this great forum. Let the hard work begin, on our journey to Perth, WA.:twitcy: Cheers, Mike
  4. Hi guys, We are at the last hurdle and have only just come up against a slight problem!!! :arghh: Myself and wife are both in the RAF at present and served in Cyprus for 2 years, so we have to provide police certificates from Cyprus, but as we were there while in the Military we "weren't really there". I have found the form on the Cypriot police website for an, issuance of a clear criminal record certificate, but it asks for an ARC number and pink, yellow slips(I assume some form of visa to live there). If there is anyone out there that has been through this process or knows someone who has, could you please give us some advice on what you sent off to the Cypriots. Thanks in advance Mike
  5. Hi all, we got an initial quote from GV and luckily decided not to go with them as I have seen many people on here having a really bad time of it. We went with the Visa Bureau in the end and they have been fantastic. Everything has been done straight away after speaking to them or submitting paperwork to the them via email. We only started the process on 15 May and have already submitted 190 Visa app, so all in all pretty good. GV should not be be aloud to do this business if all the stories are true!!! Cheers Mike
  6. Hi everyone, a bit of a nothing post really but me and my wife are so excited at how quick our visa application seems to be going through as we thought the whole process would take about 18 months and if all goes well we could possibly have it granted within 6 months. Woohoo. is anyone else in the same boat??? we are going to perth and just can't wait now. If anyone has any good or bad points on perth please reply below. Sorry for rambling. Cheers, Mike.:biglaugh:
  7. Thanks for the info. I will have a look through and weigh up my options. Cheers mike
  8. Hi there everyone, I am am quite new to this forum so not sure if this query will be in the right area! Anyway here goes: I am currently in the RAF but am due to leave in approx 2 years and hopefully going to get a perm visa by then. In the meantime I have a few £'s to spend on any courses I want to do and to that end I am very interested in doing a ROV course and trying to gain some experience over here in the U.K before emigrating to Oz. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is any call for ROV pilots in Oz, or am I barking up completely the wrong tree? Any other suggestions for relevant courses to gain employment in Oz, in the ICT, Mining or telecommunications fields would be much appreciated. I look forward to reading some replies. Cheers Mike
  9. Hi David, I noticed you said you work for a big telecoms company as a H&S manager in your previous post and I was just wondering how easy it was to get a job over there. Some background: I am a ICT technician in the RAF with 11 years experience working on a wide range of communications systems but as they say I am a jack of all trades, master of none. With my resettlement I can spend quite a bit of money on some courses in the next year or so and H&S was on my list as well as Project Management. Would my experience in the telecoms/comms industry be enough to get me a job coupled with a diploma in H&S or would I need to find a job in the same field over here in the uk before applying for jobs in Oz. Thanks in advance Mike
  10. Hi, Myself and my family are at the beginnings of the visa process and I am in the Telecomms field but work for the RAF so have a varied job depending on where I am posted to. I was just wondering what the NBN is and if anyone knows what the prospects for work are in this field over there in Perth? Any info will be appreciated, Thanks.
