  1. Thanks for this info, it's a shame as my youngest is already a citizen.
  2. Finally an update for me! Date Applied: 28/06/16 City council: Broome shire but it gets sent to regional WA Perth office Online Acknowledgement received moments after applying More info requested: 01/11/16 Form 1195 posted to regional WA office as per CO request: 02/11/16 Citizenship test received via email: 25/11/16 Date of citizenship test: 08/12/16 Less than 2 weeks til my test, I've been waiting almost 5 months so pleased finally some progress. My kids are 6 & 8 will they be granted citizenship after my test date since they don't have to do the test or ceremony?
  3. For those of you that applied online how were you advised of your test date? Was it via email?
  4. hi Tooz so great your letter came through you're almost there. Was it plain sailing for your application? I'm not really sure why mine has taken so long hopefully I'll get to do my test soon though. I've sent them the 1195 form in the post as requested, fingers crossed.
  5. Thanks. It just doesn't make sense that I can no longer add it to my online application that is suddenly has to be posted when it doesn't say that on the form. The last few hurdles eh!
  6. It turns out my form 1195 was filled in wrong. I have been asked to fill it in correctly and send it by post. Has anyone else who applied online sent their form 1195 in by post?
  7. I received a reply to my email, they are now asking for form 1195 and photo. I've already submitted this to my online application in June and it's showing as received. I replied to advise this but am puzzled.
  8. I applied online on 28th June 2016 I am in regional WA. After being told some weeks ago on the phone all was fine with my application today I received an email asking for more info: copy of Medicare card and copies of a second passport for my kids (my kids have dual citizenship). I called to confirm how to provide the extra information as the email gave a postal address but as I applied online the lady said I could add it to my online application and then reply to the email to let the case officer know. I have done all this but feel pretty disappointed it's taken 4 months to get to this point. No hope of a citizenship test this year apparently has anyone else had a similar experience as in being asked for further info by post when you have applied online?
  9. Hi Linzle, Whilst I no longer live in Perth I do live in WA and have been waiting since the end of June for my test date with no luck, it's my council that is the delay and considering I'm in the Kimberley it's anyone's guess when I'll get my test. I have called the number on the citizenship page first time the guy told me nothing, the second time the lady said all was fine just waiting for the council to provide a date. I advise you to call back but enter your number so they can call you back. Hopefully you'll get more answers. Good luck.
  10. Hi Websie, I'm so glad you got the test date. I too have been waiting a long time (since 29 Jun) the first time I called they said they could tell me nothing, second time they said it has been processed but they are waiting on my local council to provide a test date. I hope it's soon!
  11. I hope you hear from them soon. I reckon it could be my local council that's delaying things for me as they need to fly people up here to do it.
  12. Hi Websie, I'm in the same boat, been waiting since 29th June. I'm in Broome shire, WA. When did you apply?
  13. Hi James, Yes I am still waiting. I finally called them today and they said they are working on it, that the turnaround time is usually 80 days, and that is all they can tell me. The person I spoke to was very nice, I'm left feeling puzzled though as to why it's taking so long for me and my family. How is everything going for you?
  14. So I applied over 7 weeks ago and am still yet to hear when my test is. Is this a normal wait time? Date applied - 29/06/16 City/Council area - Broome, WA Online / Paper - Online Date received the acknowledgement email - 29/06/16 Date of the Citizenship Test - Unknown Date of ceremony - Unknown Type of ceremony (Urgent/Normal) - Normal
  15. My family went to USA for a holiday recently and I was nervous about returning, I am pleased to say the fix they put in the system worked, there were no issues at all!
  16. Thanks so much for you replies everyone, I didn't realise I had any until today! I'm glad it's all looking fine for you adonna. I submitted a complaint some weeks ago to the border control website. I got a reply saying all was fine with my daughters visas. And then a week or two later they sent me this: "Further to your complaint of 1 January and my reply of 12 January, I am writing to advise you that the department has put a ‘fix’ in place in the system which we trust will ensure that your future travel is smooth. Because there is sometimes an issue when a client travels on a passport with a different nationality as that of the travel document that was used in the visa application process, the system doesn’t always recognise a traveller that presents a travel document of a different nationality as happened in your case. The border entry control section has therefore done a workaround in the system and has created a ‘dummy’ evidence against the new passport." i hope this this fix works, and yes it must be unusual to apply for a visa under one nationality and then have it transferred to a passport of a different nationality but there must be a few hundred each year in a situation such as this. I appreciate that they have identified the problem and let me know that there is one. Fingers crossed we will have no issues. I will take copies of visa grant letter that has been revised. It is nerve racking though, hopefully our last time before citizenship.
  17. My family was granted PR back in 2012 and we have been in Aus since then. The problem I am having is with my kids passports for flying back into Australia. They first had their PR visa loaded onto their nz passports, but after getting uk passports I filled in the form to have the visa put on the uk passports instead. 2 years ago we flew to Malaysia. When it was time to go home at the airport I was told my middle child had no visa for Australia and told us to go to the Malaysia airlines desk (a queue of over 100 people). It was stressful but luckily I was able to find a copy of my visa grant letter (complete with nz passport numbers for my kids) but at least the check in staff took me seriously. We got on the plane and made it back to WA. After that incident I contacted the immigration dept and they assured me it would never happen again and issued me with a revised visa grant letter stating their uk passport numbers. Phew no problem ever again hey? Sadly not. We went to the uk a few months ago and at the airport for our flight from Dubai to WA I was told my middle child had no visa. We waited for half an hour for them to contact Canberra and get the approval. The same thing happened to the man in the line next to me who said it happens all the time. We got the approval and went to the gate only at the gate we were told me eldest kid has no visa and again they had to call Canberra, they sent me with my younger two kids through the last checkpoint whilst they sorted it out, my eldest with her dad. They made it to the plane though but once again a stressful experience. i am not sure who to contact about this as it all seems to have changed from a couple of years ago. In Dubai the lady said my kids visas were linked to their NZ passports and this has me worried. Who can I call to confirm? we are going overseas in a few months so don't want a repeat as it'll be at LAX not the most friendly airport! I don't seem to have a problem with my own passport as it's still the same one I was granted my PR on. My youngest is an Aussie citizen and hubby a kiwi so they cannot be denied entry. I am considering renewing my eldest 2s kiwi passports so I don't have to face this again. Citizenship is not far away for us too but not close enough. what do you reckon? Should I call or email someone or just renew the kiwi passports? Thanks.
