  1. Hi, starting to get our thoughts together for our next trip out to Australia. Does any one have any recommendations for a family friendly hotel or B&B cbd ish in melbourne? Our kids will be 8 and 11. Thanks.

Ah, ok thanks. Expecting that to be the case, but ever the optimist until confirmed. Won't be that long in the grand scheme and gives a wee bit extra time to save.

Heres hoping! Hope all works out well for you too! It's quite a wait to September and to be honest we hadn't appreciated he next stage of the process was the exam. If we had, we'd have applied a bit earlier. It says on the day website that it may take up to 6 weeks for the assessment to come back. It will be 6 weeks this Tuesday since the date of the letter confirming this so shouldn't be too far away now. Expect the March exam is now out of the question, but will wait and see.

Hi, what stage of the skills assessment are you at? We are going through the process with my wife at the moment. We're currently waiting to hear back regarding the assessment of eligibility to sit the written exam. You need to pass the written exam before you can get the positive skills assessment. There is a sitting of the written exam in London at the beginning of March, the deadline to apply for which was 20 December. Next one looks to be in September.
  6. Hi, we are inquiring about bringing the following with us: 1998 Audi A4 110 SE TDi Wagon 156K in good condition worth in the UK around £1000 value wise in Australia i'm not sure, as i don't think the diesel version was sold. i would have thought maybe around $5500 to $6000? It would really be used as a cheap to run second vehicle. Thanks, Jamie
  7. This might seem a strange question, however is there anything to stop you bringing the car across, paying duty and taxes, and then trailer it to your residence and deal with getting it registered at a later stage? Clearly I wouldn't be able to use it, but would help spread the cost over time. As you in an earlier post, I would be looking to bring an 89 Porsche 911 across but it would remain, in time, as a third car.
  8. Hi Iron Chef - its taken quite a while, but i've read through all 63 pages of this thread. Very informative and i think i pretty much understand all the elements. We're in the very early stages of looking at a move and would certainly like to bring one of our vehicles with us. Its an 89 (built in March 89) Porsche 911 Carrera Sport. From looking at the various points, it would appear to be a very worthwhile vehicle to bring with us. No intention to sell it but nice to know it would be worth the hassle if we chose to do so.
