  1. Lovely big house to rent in Yanchep, 4 x 2 with activity room, massive lounge / diner and games area with a bar, driveway and garage for 2 cars. We have re-located to Geraldton with work. Rent is $450 per week (cheap for the size!), easy to get on to Marmion Ave & Wanneroo Road to head south to the city. Please ask for further details and agents contact details. Cheers!
  2. I'm up for that! Any day is good for me really, I'm working Thursday lunchtime but other than that I'm free!
  3. Does anyone work at the Burswood in Perth or know anyone who does? Just interested to know what they are like to work for as a company. Many thanks in advance!
  4. Hello everyone, my husband & I have been in Perth for a week now with our little boy (he is 8 months old) and have been busy doing all the necessary bits to do on arrival, and I'd love to meet up with other mums/dads and kids for coffee if anyone fancies it? Our son is in need of some interraction with other little people as we are just not fun enough for him!! Slowly finding our way around, and have bought a Sat Nav! We are located in Connolly so anyone North of the River who fancies meeting up give us a shout and we can find somewhere to go for coffee that is child friendly!

    Quarentine

The minimum is 30 days, but it has to be something like 180 days from passing the blood test for Rabies... so it depends when you had the Rabies shot & blood test...
  6. We are using Petair too, our dogs had their jabs end of last year then one of them failed the blood test so had to have another shot. Thankfully she passed the 2nd blood test, and we got the results which showed the date of the jabs, their microchip numbers and the blood test result (both results showing a fail then a pass for Laska). We just scanned those documents and sent them to Petair along with all the other paperwork from their checklist and so far so good (we are also paying for the gold service). We wanted them to stay in quarantine for the minimum amount of time, so can't take them with us when we go in 2 weeks (AAAAaaaarrggghhh!!) so they are staying with family until September when we are coming back to the UK for a wedding and will send them then. So hopefully we can coordinate the necessary blood tests etc from Oz then get the other bits done when we are back before they fly. Must say my husband and I are finding the dogs the most stressful bit about moving! Shipping furniture, selling the house and having a 8 month old baby to entertain on the flight doesn't even faze us!! Hope all goes ok for you.
  7. Bit of a weird one peeps, we are just packing up our stuff to be shipped & I have 2 light shades / fittings which I bought ages ago with every intention of putting them up in our bathrooms but never got round to it! They are the sort of fitting you would put in a bathroom as they enclose in the bulb. My question is therefore, do we ship them - will they be able to be used in an Aussie house?! i.e will they fit on to the dangley bit that comes out of the ceiling with a bulb on it?!! Sorry, I'm a bit dippy with matters DIY!!:biglaugh:
  8. Hello! My husband & I, and our little boy who is 6 1/2 months, are flying to Perth on 21st May! We are statying in Connolly for 8 weeks and then need to find somewhere else! Just signed contracts on the sale of our house, so its all systems go. But still doesn't feel real yet!!
  9. Hello! I was pregnant when it was time to have our medicals. The clinic sent through forms which stated that I could choose to have the xray - but they didnt recommend it as I was pregnant but it was my choice ultimately. Obviously I didnt have the xray, but I had all the rest of the medical. I think that was in July and our little boy was born in September, so I think it was the November we took baby for his medical & I had the chest xray then. We got our Visa at the beginning of December so it didn't really delay things that much. Speak to the clinic - ours was in Maidenhead & they were really knowledgeable and had a lady who specifically dealt with Visa applications. We have to go to the health place when we arrive in Oz - something to do with Tuberculosis - but I don't have it (!) I think it may be something to do with breastfeeding (nursing mothers are apparently more susceptible to it!) Good luck (with both pregnancy and Visa!)
  10. Hiya, Yes we are on Facebook - Verity N Ben White - picture is of our little boy asleep in his buggy with an I Love Mummy bib & a flat cap! lol x
  11. I am half welsh! And will be in Perth (connolly area) with an 8 month old at the end of May and would love to meet up for coffee!!
  12. My hubby, myself & our 5month od son are moving to Perth in May. We have just sold our house so things are now becoming more real. We have both been really positive about the move all the way along, but I must admit I have had a few niggles - nothing like not wanting to go, but just worried I will be homesick or miss people more than I think I will. I think the key is to talk about it, to anyone - friends, family etc... The world is a lot smaller than it used to be so communication via skype etc is easy enough to stay in touch with people. I'm scared of having to come back to the UK as I really don't want to be here, but my hubby says he will do absolutely anything not to come back here! So I guess we have to put all our efforts into making our new life in Perth everything we want it to be. As for having more children, I had a terrible time here in the UK (emergancy C section, followed by blood transfusion then an infection from the C section and being on the "big gun" antibiotics in hospital) so anywhere else in the world would probably be better! lol Seriously though, I have only heard good things about maternity units in Oz and with so many skilled people emigrating the care will probably be exceptional. We have made contacts on here too to meet up when we get out to Perth which will really help us settle in. We are quite sociable people anyway so will hopefully make friends quickly, but its good to start this process before arriving in a new country. All the very best. Just give it a go, if it doesn't work out then it wasn't meant to be but if you don't try you'll never know!
  13. Myself, hubby & our baby are heading there on 21st May!!! We have a hoiliday let in Connolly for 8 weeks (from Lets Perth) then after that who knows!! Don't have any jobs lined up yet but hopefully will do in due course. Need to think about nursery for our baby I guess as he will be about 8 months when we move and I'd like to work (to make friends more than anything!). Would be great to meet up with some people at Hilary's for a coffee or something!
  14. My hubby is a police officer & he agrees. They are so shackled in this country and cannot deal with the scumbags the way they want to hence why we are leaving! Long gone are the days when you can say anything to people who are doing anything wrong, because they will turn on you, your home & your family. It took half of London to burn down before baton guns were even considered! A real shame that society has become like this, but I don't think it will change for the better unfortunately. Sad really, as I enjoyed growing up in the UK but as it won't the same for our son growing up we have decided to make our lives in Oz which I'm sure has its share of unacceptable behaviour but it seems there is much more a sense of community and knowing right from wrong, and people aren't afraid to stand up for themselves & their property.
