  1. http://metro.co.uk/2016/06/24/france-overtakes-uk-as-fifth-largest-economy-as-pound-plummets-5964746/ I hope it goes well for the UK but there are verystormy (no pun intended) waters ahead and I bet it's the poorer areas that pay the highest price. Has your aviation fuel for that chopper gone up in price yet?
  2. OH Yes they are (well it is a Pantomime) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/news/article-3669746/EasyJet-devises-plans-swift-UK-exit-amid-fears-Brexit-severely-damage-business-report-claims.html?ITO=1490 http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/526926/EasyJet-leave-UK-talks-reportedly-Brexit-EU-referendum-europe-budget-airline posted one from a pro brexit and one from an anti brexit source for balance.of A bit of semantics on the Idea of the HQ lots of airlines will still fly in and out of the UK but not be based here. Therefore will not contribute to the tax revenue in the same way.
  3. Easy Jet now saying it will leave the UK if article 50 is invoked.
  4. Yes FTSE 100 Global companies not reliant on UK Trade. However the 10% drop in the pound means shares are being bought in a devalued pound so it is still 10% lower.
  5. History Might be relevant now.
  6. http://sitebeam.net/cookielaw/ http://time.com/3822956/google-eu-antitrust-case-shopping/ http://ec.europa.eu/growth/industry/intellectual-property/index_en.htm Within the EU Microsoft and Google cannot use anti competitive practices without the fear of being brought to court to face fines and sanctions. The EU fights for EU members rights to Intellectual Property as many US companies would try to claim rights they just don’t have. As a collective the EU has the resources and the will to deal with this. Can you see the UK government standing up for this or legislating any time soon they will be bogged down in other legislation for years. Our relationship with the US is important but sometimes they take the p*#!.
  7. But will it be at the same level?
  8. News that plans by Siemens to export wind turbine blades from a new facility in Hull have been put on hold.
  9. I am hoping he(Boris) will come out and say Brexit is a bad idea and we didn't think leave would win. It was just a negotiating Tactic "YOU WERE ONLY MEANT TO BLOW THE BLOODY DOORS OFF"
  10. Good luck with that and you have to remember the customer is a Brit wages will go up maybe but then so will prices and the net gain will be Zero or worse less than zero. How many people also ask the question "less for cash mate?" everyone wants to pay as little as possible.
  11. Totally agree. Parliament must have a duty of care to the British people when they see the disaster this will be they should vote in the interests British people. You would expect if we faced a military attack we wouldn't need a referendum to counter it.
  12. here goes the extra 10 billion available for the NHS. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36680572
  13. My initial reaction to the question is very badly. Good luck to negotiating with a 2 year window. A bit like selling a car in a hurry when you are emigrating. Also can you envisage the negotiations maybe 1 good cop negotiator on the EU side and 26 bad ones taking it in turns to be the good cop. I think if we trigger Article 50 the outcome will be 2 years of futile negotiations then cast adrift on WTO rules we will only then be able to negotiate deals. Then we will still have to negotiate with the EU as a block they won't do it individually. The EU negotiations on current deals in progress are to protect EU citizens and companies from over reaching from the likes of US multinationals like Google and Microsoft and the rabid grab for intellectual property (if it moves it belongs to a US company) who will no longer be bound by EU rules in the UK. As for the us buying more from the EU well they will still sell to us unless we only want to buy UK made goods, but WILL put tariffs on our products and services when we sell to them and there is now a good chance many British made but foreign owned car companies will now move production to EU countries. As for higher costs they will likely move to Slovakia or other low cost countries which will outweigh any benefit to a low pound. Remember some of the parts for these cars are already made all over Europe why complicate the supply chain with extra bureaucracy.
  14. an Orchard owner in Kent along with farmers in Norfolk quoted as saying "We advertise locally for local staff but despite the number of unemployed in their areas only 10% of the candidates are local. Also the locals don't have the the work ethic and rarely last more than a few days". Take for example Shepparton in Victoria which I drive through on occasions seems more vibrant since the refugees came to pick fruit that would have rotted on the trees till they came. Also some of the big firms are out to maximise their profits so why would they employ apprentices as they would be liable for them if there was a recession. If you are so sure of an Upturn due to Brexit maybe They should put their money where there mouth is and Employ trainees and apprentices. one example http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2014/01/11/nfu-says-shropshire-farmers-pick-eastern-europe-migrant
  15. Maybe as there are growing rumours that Brexit will fail and will eventually be voted down in the common. This may be the reason Markets have partially recovered. Articles in the Financial Times and the Independent . The coup in the Labour party and maybe Boris having pulled out of the leadership contest and writing conciliatory articles in the Telegraph for remainers he may well do an about face and pronounce Brexit a bad idea. Contrary to your previous statement about going into full production the mid cap FTSE 250 a better barometer of the UK economy - is the worst-performing of 40 global asset classes rated by UBS since the referendum vote. What are the locations of most of your projects are they mainly based in London? I also note that overseas banks such as Singapore are now refusing investors from Asia funding for purchases in London and the UK. You have to remember that despite the FTSE 100 recovering to the same level as just before the vote. This means it is still over 10% down as sterling is that much weaker and mainly overseas buyers are picking up companies that are global rather than just reliant on UK markets. The Governor of the Bank of England has warned that the economic out look has certainly got worse.
  16. Just heard a report from Beijing the Chinese currently negotiating a free trade deal with the EU with the UK being one of the leading supporters in the negotiations of the deal, have said they are reluctant to try and negotiate a single deal with the UK.
  17. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-buyers-guide/cbg-cars-made-in-britain.html really look at this list and tell me which of these manufacturers are British made and British owned. the foreign owned ones could all go overseas as Ford already has done. Then we would not earn any income from them. If we had any money left we could then buy from them but they probably wouldn't care as they would be selling the cars previously made here elsewhere. Oh and we won't have any of the protections from the EU re trade that we currently do. They are only selling cars in the UK because the UK was doing well at least until last Friday.
  18. If Scotland get independence then Edinburgh still an English speaking bridge to the EU that would boost the Scottish economy astronomically
  19. The difference is that you can vote a government out in Australia once every 3 years and in the UK 5 so it is not the end.
  20. I agree with you re referendums particularly the way the Nazi's used them. However I do not believe it is too late constitutionally referendums are only advisory and there is a parliamentary majority of MPs who are inclined to stay in Europe. That is not to say parliament should ignore the people but on constitutional issues of such importance some countries have rules that say there has to be a 60% + vote in favour of the change. The UK vote was won by leave with 17 million votes there is an electorate of 46 million that means that 29 million did not directly vote for Brexit. This is not a general election that can be re run in four or five years. All this petition is asking is for around 20 million votes so the will of the people is absolutely clear as on the current figures it is not. If 800,000 people moved from the leave to the remain vote and many have now said that they only voted leave as a protest and didn't realise the consequences the vote would have gone the other way.
  21. All British citizens can sign this petition if they want to it has now had the highest number of signatures ever in just one day. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215'>https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215 https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions
