  1. We're looking to book flights from Sydney to London this Dec. The cheapest flights I can find are around $2200, there are slightly cheaper ones, but with horrendous stopover times. I'm wondering if we wait a bit longer will the flights go up more or will there be sales on later in the year? Any feedback or advice from any regular Xmas flyers would be appreciated.
  2. Hi everyone, my wife and I have recently moved to Manly with our 7yr old son. We're pretty settled now and have some good friends here but they don't have children , we're struggling to meet any young families that live in Manly. My wife is 28 and I'm 31. If there are any couples in a similar position to us and want to meet up for a play date, drinks ect.. Would be good. We're very normal people, honest
  3. We're currently staying in an apartment right next to the beach at North curly. We book up until 25th July but have now found a rental and are moving next wed 10th July. So the aapartment will be available from the 10th to the 25th July. It's the cheapest accommodation we could find. It's about $600pw. It sleeps 4, double bed and double sofa bed. Go to the website to check it out (apt 5) http://www.beachhousesydney.com Email nicky@beachhousesydney.com for details. It might be available for a few wks after that date as well. It's a great location if you're looking to set up on the Northern beaches.

  7. So the big day is finally here. Trying our hardest to stay within our weight allowance. Even though we have double allowance it's still proving to be very tricky. So looking forward to being back in Sydney. Hoping to have a Bbq on Saturday. Is it still warm enough for a barbe? It's got to be warmer than Kent!
  8. So moving day is finally here. Doree boner are coming on:wacko: Friday to collect all our belongings. I'm starting to panic a bit as our house does not look ready at all. Will doree boner just come in and do all the packing for us? We've moved house a few times and would normally have alot of things in boxes by now. We are going to have everything to be shipped together in one place by fri. I'm just not sure if we need to start packing anything? Please tell me about your experiences of moving day? Is it a stressful day? Aaaaaghhh starting to freak out!!
  9. We had to change our surnames with Singapore Air about two months ago. They charged us $100 per person. I tried my hardest to find a way around it, but in the end we just had to pay it.
  10. My wife, son and i are moving to dee why nsw in 6 wks. I'm starting to feel very nervous. The enormity of the move is just starting to hit me. 12. Well it was relatively straight forward for us. But yes everyone's case is different. Surely it's worth saving 2-3k. Just takes a bit of effort. There is plenty of help and support on this forum. Best of luck.
  13. Do it yourself. It's not hard. You just have to be organised. You'll save some well needed cash.

  15. We wouldn't be changing schools. We will be staying in the same area. We've gone and booked 7wks temp acc now. What a nightmare, it now means neither myself or my partner can start work for the first 7wks or so. Will the school not except our temp address if they know we are looking for permanent acc in the area?
  16. The problem is we have 7 wks temp accommodation while we look for something permanent. But we really need to get our son into school within the first month. Can we use our temp address for the time being? Or will we have to wait until we've found something permanent?
  17. Hello everyone, We are currently trying to enroll our 7 yr old son into school. On the application form it asks for a permanent address and details of Doctor ect... As we're not in Aus quite yet we can't provide this. Will we have to wait until we are in the country or will the school understand our circumstances? Any help would be great.
  18. Hello everyone, I have recently changed my name back to my birth name and am not sure which of the above forms I need to complete?. (She is a buildings service engineer) so really hopeing something comes from that. Any tips for writing a cv for oz? Is it a similar lay out to a uk cv? I'm a chef so hopefully i'll find something pretty quick? I think we've come to far to Far to wimp out now.

  21. We've been granted a pr visa and have flights booked for next june. Neither myself or my wife have a job offer as of yet. Is it too much of a risk leaving our home and jobs to fly to oz in the hope of finding work? Has anyone out there had any experience is this matter? Do we just risk it all and go for it?. We have a 7 yr old to think of as well.
  22. Does anybody know of any cheaper area's just outside the city for serviced apartments/holiday lets. All the one's in can find are right in the city (v expencive)
  23. Hi guys, we are heading over to Sydney next june, very excited but a bit unsure of where to stay for the first month or so while we try and find somewhere more permanent. I understand its very hard to secure a rental while still in the uk. Any adive on where people stayed when they first arrived would be very helpful. I've been looking at serviced apartments but all seem very expencive?
  24. I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. (Dry sence of hummor) I forget how attached people get to there cats. I have one myself and are leaving it with our parents. I don't think its fair leaving a cat in quarantine for that amount of time
  25. No! It will cost you a fortune and it will propably get eaten by a snake.
