  1. Given our impending move to Oz in April and the fast approaching festive season I'm just trying to weigh up whether to pop some pairs of ASIC runners on my xmas list or wait till we move. I have a feeling they may be cheaper over here but can anyone advise. Normally pay for mid range pair, so nothing extortionate. How do sports goods compare? I'm guessing there is no Sports Direct equivalent over there. Cheers Sarah
  2. We like you have had our visas for 2 years and only now managing to make the move (we sadly waited for our eldest dog to pass away). We are also a family of 4 ( 2 daughters, 10 and 6) and moving to Adelaide. Flights booked today...eeek...all seems quite surreal. I hope it all goes well for you but feel free to share any frustrations along the way. x Sarah
  3. We're moving to Adelaide in April 16' and i am just starting to plan. Just wondering what documentation you took with you vs what went in your shipping? I've got a fair idea but just wondering whether there is something we might need, I haven't thought of. We already have a bank account in Oz and a mortgage over there so would have a credit rating so not sure we need evidence as well from the UK. Thanks Sarah
  4. Best get persuading the other half to get it shipped before we go...might do the children some good to go without material possessions for a while:laugh:.
  5. We're getting things moving to leave the UK at end March/beginning of April and I was wondering how long people left between getting their stuff shipped and actually flying. Trying to convince my other half we'd be better off being without stuff in the UK for 3-4 weeks and beg/borrow stuff and getting it a bit sooner in Aus. Appreciate it's "horses for courses" but just curious. Cheers Sarah
  6. I can entirely understand. We're both in our early 40s and prepared to give up well paid jobs and take our 2 young children to the other side of the world, because life is too short for ifs and buts. Better to look back and say you tried than never to have tried at all. Life's for living and if we are fortunate enough to gain visas then why would you now take that leap.mappreciate everyone is different, some more risk averse than others, but hey, life would be dull if we were all the same, wozzie ( patiently:wacko: waiting for our 12 yr old boxer dog to pass on so we can move on with the next chapter.shes one stubborn pooch!)
  7. Myself, (Sarah) and hubby Mark with daughters age 5 and 9, hoping to move to Adelaide in 2015. Have 190 visas in hand and activated, and just waiting for our eldest dog, who is 11.5 with health problems to take the trip to doggie heaven....she's hanging on like she'll live forever at the moment but has collapsed several times with a bad heart but always gets up and plods on. We're desperate to make the move but we couldn't consider rehoming her at such an age so will wait out. Have got family in Brisbane and friends in many other parts of Oz so can't wait to move.
  8. Thanks Bob...right, will get the wheels in motion! regards Sarah
  9. So my dog has had his rabies jabs..about 4 weeks ago and I know I now need to get the blood sample done....my vet was a little confused as to whether this has to be sent to a specific place for testing or whether it can go to their usual lab. I will engage a pet carrier nearer the time but just want to get all the prelims done now. I'm also assuming that as he's due his annual booster that he's good to get lepto now as well....is there anything else I need to be aware of...have flown my other dogs in the past from Canada to Germany and then Germany to UK, but this seems so much more complicated! Looking to move in around 7-8 months time.
  10. That's fab news..and wow quick work in all fronts. We were chatting about HR jobs late least year and all we were getting back was doom and gloom so it's put a spring in my step. We're heading over to Adelaide early next year and I was starting to get worried although I did meet with a recruiter on a recent reccie and she said that it really comes down to you as an individual at interview if you have the quals. I noticed in one of your earlier threads you mentioned someone you knew who moved to Adelaide and got a job in 2 weeks...are they on here as I would love to get in contact. Also you mentioned a course you did...would love to know where you found it as I'm struggling to find much apart from more post grads and I already have a Masters in HR and just want a brush up on legislation. Would be good to keep in touch and let us know how it's going and any peculiarities you come across...maybe we can get a networking group going! Hope it all works out. sarah
