  1. please dont think newer build means a good house, as has been previously mentioned almost all houses here (especially rentals) are just shite. they look nice but there are massive performance issues. new houses need to be 6* standard. however this is achieved at the design stage. there is no testing of the built house, independent or otherwise. so from a good design, a company and builders can pretty much build what they like and call it (and charge for) 6*. therefore a cheap house, built from the start to be a rental will be a rather steaming dog egg rolled in glitter. a house for an owner will be better, but with an industry completely used to and geared to slum type construction even their best is subpar by even uk standards. best to seal up some window architraves with plastic and live in a small part of the house during winter. we did this in point cook and stayed warm, and are doing the same here in east melbourne. you can also eventually build a real house, but its expensive!
  2. with these things your silence speaks volumes about your character. i wish you luck, sadly i think you are going to need it.
  3. hi we have a japanese imported car, non uk spec, but is road legal in the uk. mot's etc.. will this cause any issues when shipping it across? its a toyata estima, as i understand it, they are shipped into australia direct from japan also. will it cause any undue headaches?
  4. were seriously thinking about bringing the car, its a 7 seater people carrier. do we ship it on its own? or make our 20ft container a 40ft? which is the cheaper way? can you combine stuff like that? probably a silly question, however its not something ive ever had to do before!
  5. hi all, we hope to be emigrating to melbourne this time next year on a state sponsored visa. id like to bring our people carrier over, if the price is right. the main issue i have is the fuel system, it has been twin tanked so it runs on veg oil. the installation is perfectly safe, and has no issues with a british MOT test. does anyone know a little about this, ive already looked, and its legal to run your car on veg oil in australia, but do you think it may cause issues with the shipping etc?
