It’s probably game over for us to be honest. 60 points (have industry based qualifications but ACS doesn’t acknowledge them for migration purposes emoji35.png), no degree by 18yrs experience, maxed on English scores already even with a Vic sponsored application will still only bring us to 65.

In another 11 months we will loose another batch of points due to age.

Sorry to hear that. Its a horrible feeling. Just seems like a complete waist of time.

  2. Just want to get points for my bricklaying qualifications not after working as a bricklayer in Au. Just found Migration skills assessment which is paper based and just checks your qualifications. Its not clear cut so just wondering if anyone else has used it to get some points?

    Hi,

Thanks for pointing out that it is for the invitations. If I am yet to submit my EOI, does it make difference if i do it before they increase the points to 65 considering that at the present moment I only have 60? So, my main concern to get the invitation to apply for the visa will they assess it against 60 points (in force at the date submission of the EOI) or they will apply 65 points anyways?

I am still at getting the invitation stage...

    Thank you for your help!

    Regards,

    E

This is a nightmare (65 points) only just found out myself

  4. Hi All

Just found out about the points being raised to 65, so now we are short by 5. So only just started looking to see if i could claim some for being an ex bricklayer. I have not been on site for over 10 years but have 13 yrs experience. (been doing  building maintenance for the past 12 yrs) just need an extra 5 points to add to the wife 60 points. So does anyone know if this is possible, I'm not going for a bricklaying job in oz so don't need a skills assessment  just need to get the points if possible.

Thanks for any help on this

Just make sure you are doing this for you, regardless of visa. The Oz government have announced that it wants to make big changes including removing lots of medical proffessions, so do not assume you will be eligible. You very well may not be.

What have you heard on the grape vine???

My did hers before, call them and ask if you can email everything, if your not using an agent and your in the uk, call a local solicitor tell them what your doing as most will do it for a set price there's quite a lot of documents you will need them to be certified a solicitor, get 2 copies 1 for your skills easement and 1 for regulatory body that gives you your pin or license to work, if you have to get your pin (if you have one now)  sent out ask if they can email it or sent via courier recorded, that's what we have done for anmac which makes aphra easier.

Ours was completely different to yours though, is there nowhere you can do it in the uk?

Have you completed your English test?  Ielts

    Have you got an agent?

Thanks for that link. Yes stage 2 is an assessment on the job in au. Got to do the lelts test, just trying to put a game plan together at the moment. We have contacted agents and i think that is what is putting us off, because some are saying we have little chance of even getting a EOI with our low points, but other are saying no problem, you might just have to wait a long time because we  will be at the bottom of the pack which is not a problem. We are going to go for it, and just see what happens, the occupation celling is 1000 odd in favor and there are jobs on seek. This page with all your help has really helped so thanks too all.  Did you use an agent or go solo?

  9.  Sorry me again, can I ask if you done your skills assessment before submitting your EOI? or after. only asking because for OT there are two stages. Stage one is a desk top one in the UK and stage 2 is in Au. Don't know if yours is similar. I think I read that you do need to do it before but thought i would check. Cheers hope you all have a good week end.

That's for 189 visas 489 are different the state sponsorship is based on whether they want your occupation and how badly they need it, we got our acceptance within 1 week because qld need midwives.

Did you know that because of the Gov state skills list, or just looked on seek jobs to see if they needed midwives?

I applied for 489 state nomination to the NT as general electrician with 60 points in february.

Points are not a huge part in state sponsorship. If you are firstly granted the individual state nomination application, you will receive an automatic visa invitation. Some states require a direct application for the nomination part before your invited for the visa. The nomination application is were most people fail as the state requirements change frequently. Your occupation needs to be on the individual states list.

What occupation are you applying under and what state are you headed?
