1. I have been to both Queensland and Sydney before moving to Melbourne. The issue for us was we had planned on moving to Melbourne already as we had more friends here we knew from London and we were concerned about costs in Sydney and getting work in Brisbane. We are a strange lot as we hadn't even been to Australia when we decided to move here! Only heard good things. That said, it is so much better than the UK so no regrets. I have to say I never had that feeling when we arrived in Melbourne that this is the place for us and felt a love for it. Mostly I just kept trying to like it here and after four years we have both realised that you can't force yourself to love where you live if you don't have that feeling. I have that feeling when we visit Brisbane and Sydney (both which we have recently re-visited). We are moving to one or the other the end of next year depending on where we can get work. I just find Melbourne ugly. People love it for the European feel ect. and the sporting events ect. I don't care about any of it. You dread winter and when summer comes there aren't nice beaches to enjoy it. I have been outside Melbourne all ove Victoria and the beaches don't get much better. Anyway, that is my rant!
2. I would love to get some advice on Brisbane from you seeing as you love it! We are in Melbourne and are thinking of moving. Good suburbs with good schools with results on my school website? Checking out Camp Hill next week and Sherwood when we visit.
3. I feel your pain! We are in Victoria and regerat not trying New South Wales or Queensland instead. We are thining of shifting to Brisbane the end of next year after four years.
4. Hi everyone! I am heading to Brisbane next week to look at some suburbs as my husband and I after over 4 years in Melbourne are really not enjoying it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their experiences or that of anyone they know who made the move from Melbourne and how they found it? Did they regret it or was it a positive experience? Did anyone come back to Melbourne? I am particularly interested in how hard it was to get jobs in the IT industry, my hubbie is a solutions architect. I am a psychologist. I have heard the job market isn't as good, and job searches do show up with less jobs. We obviously have to have at least one of us working before moving. Its a very different experience I would think moving cities than moving country so would love some thoughts on those who changed their cities in Oz! Many thanks!!
5.
My husband and I have decided that a move to Brisbane is a must now after nearly four years in Melbourne. I have narrowed down suburb choices there mostly based on education. Any thoughts on Cooparoo? Any other areas that are good for schools with a decent 3 bed house for around $600-$650,000? Any thoughts and advice from anyone who has moved there from Melbourne or anywhere else would be greatly appreciated! Plans to move during the next year.
