  1. Hi folks, hoping someone can offer advice for a friend who is going through some visa issues. My friend has been sponsored on a 190 visa for permanent residency (as an account) by they're employer for whom they'd worked for 5 years. However the business has gone through a recent restructuring and wanted to relocate him and increase workload significantly. So he left, with that and ongoing issues, terrible working conditions and the employer taking advantage of him and other visa holders he'd had enough. He is a qualified account and holds a BA in Marketing etc although was not strictly working as an account for said company.  So, I'm hoping there is an other option for him, he is currently seeking work elsewhere in the hope another business will offer sponsorship. Has anyone got experience in this situation? Any advice would be great. Is it worth him going to an immigration agent for possible solutions. Thanks in advance!

  2. I just finally got an email from my C/O.....i emailed this morning to say that my girlfriend had returned to Australia and that i have booked a flight for the 28th Novermber........Got a reply saying she will grant the visa the week before OVER THE MOON :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Amazing news for you, I have a very similar timeline, fingers crossed I get the same grant time!

  3. Thanks. It is such a relief. That feeling when you first hear that your visa is granted is unique. It was quite unexpected as well. Must have been because I'm travelling next Wednesday anyway. Can't wait to see my fiancée again. Rang her at 2am to tell her.

Good luck to everyone else that is waiting.

Congratulations, I can imagine the relief. All these early/quick grants are v encouraging. I lodged my pmv300 in July and have booked flights at the end of Nov, just hoping it comes in mid Nov, might send my CO an email just letting him know I've booked.

    Exciting!!

  4. No, you are definitely not eligible for it. That tax allowance is to cover costs of temporary situation and technically living away from your permanent home, but partner visa is a migration visa based on a permanent relationship and move. You are treated as a perm resident on the partner visa so have to pay normal tax but have a much safer situation legally and are eligible for the rights of residents re education, Medicare, social security etc (exact entitlements might depend slightly on whether you initially get a temp resident visa for 2 years, but essentially the visas arec v similar).

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for that MM2Melb, someone mentioned it to me and thought I may be eligible while/if on the pmv. I know a few people who've been out in oz on work visas and it sounds like a great scheme, but as you say I'd trade that for the more secure situation of migrant status!

  5. My CO was AB. I emailed him three times in total during the wait. Don't be nervous about getting in touch with them. If they aren't able to tell you anything then that's exactly what they will say. He said that to me a month or so ago, that there was a 5-6 month waiting time and there that he had everything that he needed. See how you go with it. Good luck

Congrats Purpledonna!! Amazing time scale. I'm waiting on a pmv subclass 300 and have AB too, emailed him today and got the stock the exact same response as you say. I applied mid-july but planning to fly over end of November going to book tomorrow on the basis of all these early grant dates - fingers crossed!!! :)

  6. OUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!! WHOOOO HOOOO!!!! We have had some family medical problems - my Nan doesn't have much longer so that is incredibly sad and I am just so grateful and appreciative that Will can spend this time with my nan and i.... i hope everyone has speedy grant dates, but I am so over the moon with our case officer and really thank her with the bottom of our hearts,,,,

huge congrats! Just reading back through some posts from the last couple of weeks, been a while since I've checked in, so good to see ppl getting their visas woo hoo!

  7. I finally lodged my pmv and these are my stats so far...

    Visa Sent

    July 13th

    Money taken

    July 15th

Medical Booked for July 18th and police cert ready to send on request

We started getting everything together in Feb/March and between one thing and another its taken an age to finalise everything so we're crossing our fingers for a speedy grant date. Though I think I will travel to Sydney in Sep/Oct and go offshore once/if it comes through. So relived the application part is done so far, so tedious!

  8. Hi all, just put everything together to post my visa app tomorrow, knowing there may be a slight increase in the fee. Well, its gone up from 1,735au to 1,995au! So annoyed, I decided not to rush through anything and risk the increase, but that's quite a lot! BOOOOO! Hopefully it means they'll increase man power and speed up times! Wishful thinking huh?!

Heres the link to the new info.

  9. ^^^^^ Fantastic news, so encouraging to see quite a few people getting their visas recently. As you say mjandmum, lets hope they get the ball rolling and crank up the processing times, oh to dream of a four month grant!!

I'm copying a link to a question I have over on the main migration issues page. Its about the NOIM form for the 300pmv if anyone has a quick minute to cast your eye over it I'd be much obliged, off work today so on visa duty!

  10. Hi pinup,

I would say if you have all the 888's just submit them. I ended up with three from Oz (one from my mum and two from my best friends). My mum and one best friend have only met my partner twice, and my other best friend only met him once for a few hours at the airport, but they can still paint a picture of our relationship as they saw it plus how I talked about him in emails etc. We had his folks do one here which more represented them seeing us consistently so I think the four stat decs together show our relationship as a whole.

I would try and get the letter from your phone companies saying there have been calls and explain in your stat dec why there isn't an itemised account. Some info is better than none and I'm sure they'll come back to you and ask for more if they need it.

Good luck with the rest of the form filling.

Thanks a million Attypodian! Your're so right much better to paint the whole picture! We have mine done, and waiting for his from Oz so I might go with 3 from me and two from him. Phonewise, yep good idea to just say why we don't have the itemised bills. We are going to submit some emails but just a smattering to give an idea of dates and so on, same with photos we think.

Thanks again for your help!! So good to be on the forum helps maintain sanity levels, hope there'll be some more subclass 300's in the April gang!

  11. hi all,

Just putting the final touches to my subclass 300 application. Its taking forever!! OH is in Syndey last time we saw each other was November, so if we get it in early/mid April we'll be looking at September/October nearly another year apart! eeeeeeeek. We might fit in another trip or I may go over early. Anyway, I'm hoping you can help me with a few niggling questions...

We are putting together our 888 forms with 3 declarations from his side and 3 from mine. I left Oz in March 08, so only got to know his pals/family very briefly, so although we've been in touch via social media etc, I'm a bit worried about the big gap in time having not seen them since then? (OH has been visiting here, but I havent gone back to Oz yet). I'm wondering if we should just do 2 each, or 3 from me and one from his Dad, or do they even take much notice once its done?

Secondly, We have (much to my annoyance) been using our mobile phones to communicate as OH has no computer (LUDDITE), its a running bone of contention. He finally broke and got an iphone 4 but hes struggling with its efficiency!:wink: But ultimately it means that now we are both experiencing difficulty getting proof of calls made over the course of the 3 years so we're really reliant on that information to form the grounds of our 'proof of relationship'. We've been on the phone constantly to our respective service providers with the usual lack of customer service making it very difficult. What we were both told is that we can get a letter from our service providers saying calls have been made between the two numbers between 2008-2011, but no itemized call details, do you think that will be enough?

Ta very much, total pain in the gizzards this form filling business!!! Looking forward to having it done so I can enjoy the rest of my time in Dublin, the recession is doing wonders to make it quite fun and vibrant, wont want to leave!

  12. I was in the same position and asked the embassy if we could just send copies and they said no because it has to be the original signature. Its so annoying but if you pay 43 aus dollars for priority posting you can get all the docs sent over within two days

No you don't get a receipt unless you request one, you just see the money leave the bank.

I got my CO e-mail, couldn't be happier at this point. :jiggy: I have DP apparently

I'm off to Emerald in Queensland initially as my husband works out that way but after a few months were heading to the sunshine coast. I want to move to Melbourne but my husband wont leave Queensland.

Thanks for that Tillyloola, just as I suspected! Grrr, two days is good though and with the mounting costs 43 bucks wont make a huge difference!

  13. Yeah finally a C/O!!! Have medical booked for 7th April, was the first available appointment!!!:arghh: Ah well, what can you do!! oh and its gonna cost €300!!!

Yeah im banking on the 6 months aswell!!! Good luck march gang!! send big  to all!!!

Very exciting!! Congrats Sinead, great to see another Dublin gal in the same boat.

I'm hoping to be part of the march gang too, getting the last of the paperwork together now. Anyone know if scans of 47SP forms are acceptable? My OT is in Oz and we are lodging our application in London, it would be great to not have to fedex all the originals, but that might be wishful thinking methinks??

Are you getting your medical done anywhere in particular Sinead, do you have to provide xrays as part of it? I'm hoping my VHI might cover it, again, more wishful thinking....!

  14. ^^^Thanks Peach, I've read and re-read all the info on the immi.gov site, but its great to get some feedback. If his job had an influence I would be very surprised and not impressed as it would be very unfair advantage, no to mention corrupt!! That said, there is good job security so hopefully that would be considered in conjunction with salary.

Thanks again for the help :)

  15. Apologies, just realised i should have posted this in the main migration area- opps!

    Hi all,

Its great to read through all your success stories and see so many people in the same boat!

I haven't investigated visas in quite a few months. I returned from Oz in Spring 2008 having met my boyfriend in December 07. We have stayed together while have been back in Ireland trying to get a on-line business off the ground which I can now run from Oz.

We keep in daily contact, by phone email and even the odd snail mail. My boyfriend has visited twice , once for 6 weeks and again recently for 3weeks and I intend to go back in the Summer. The processing times we're at about 3 months the last time I checked so I'm slightly aghast to see that they've gone up to 5-6months eeek!

I'm a little worried about our prospects as its so long since we've been together on a permanent basis. On the plus side he works for a government department which I'm hoping they will look upon favourably. Also we're not "officially" engaged, he wants to wait to get a proper ring and do it all properly! My brother and his wife (ozzie) live in Oz so I'm hoping that may also be taken in to consideration.

Anyway, looks like I'll really have to get a move on and get all the paper work together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! We're considering using an agent, I've read mixed reports so any feedback on that would be great too.

    Thanks!
