  1. Couple of questions if I might... Thanks We're planning on moving to Perth but want to plan it round our daughters schooling. Those that have made the move, would you say its best to come in UK summer holidays or wait till xmas and start the Oz school year. How do you choose a school and apply especially if you want littlen to start school as soon as possible? Are there any websites out there that can give info on whether a school is good or bad? Back here we can check ofsted reports etc. Is there something similar for Perth? Thanks for your help
  2. Resident return is ok from the uk? Don't have to be there to apply or anything like that? Tia
  3. I'll keep it factual Im an aussie citizen and in 2013 my wife and I and daughter moved to Perth. My wife was given PR straight off the bat on a spouse criteria. We stayed 2 years then moved back for unforseen circumstances. We would now like to head back to perth again in the next year or so but didn't do anything with the visa when we left? What are we meant to do? Do we reapply for a spouse visa, starting again, Have no problem going through it all again, its probably our fault for not sorting something for the mid term whilst back in the UK, but dont want to start something off, to find that we should be doing something else halfway thorugh. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ollie
  4. Raiding return visa was what I found. Do I need one of these?
  5. Thanks for your answers. We were given pr straight off the bat. There was no temporary 2 years. We had enough evidence of relationship to get pr straight away. Ill have to have another google. I definitely read something about if you leave you need to tell them so that when you return it's just a case of going straight back in. I was under the impression that we'd have to almost re apply for the whole visa again.
  6. Thinking of ping ponging. We we applied and got a spouse visa based on my citizenship. We then came back to the uk after 2 years in oz. 9 months later we're considering the Ping pong. I've read that we should have done something about the visa to allow us to leave and return but we didn't do it. Just wondering where to begin with the visa situation for returning. Any help much appreciated.
  7. We're moving back to the U.K. And looking to sell our car before we go. Looking for $7500. We're up in Alkimos area. It's been a good car to us and is economical and cheap to insure and maintain Details 1.8 litre petrol 105kms 2006 Holden Astra Very good condition inside and out Electric windows CD player etc. Any other details let me know
  8. Has anyone shipped a container and insured nothing?
  9. Who have you used for shipping insurance of items travelling Oz to UK? Is it possible to only insure certain items. Only really want to cover the bedroom furniture and the sofa. Have no intention of insuring the old TV or crappy dining room table etc. TIA
  10. Found flights back to the uk with a 55min stopover in Singapore. Is is that long enough to get off and back on again? We have a 4 year old with us. What happens if the first flight is late and we miss the connection. Do we have to pay for the next flight? Would it even be possible to get on the next one. Are these flights usually fully booked from sing to Heathrow? Thanks
  11. Will it still be possible to go through the tax return and rebate process from the UK for the part of the tax year that I work in oz? Ill keep the aussie bank account open so they can still pay into that. Just wondering whether i'll forgo any rebate because im not longer in Australia. Along the same lines, we get centrelink benefits of which they hold back about 2k each year to ensure that we have estimated our income correctly. Will they still rebate that if i've moved back to the UK and cancelled my centerlink payments? Thanks!
  12. Got two home opens tomorrow and the next day in perth. Both up there in our favourites list. Can we apply for both and if need be, turn one down? Do you have to pay anything to make applications? Can I flood apply for loads and pick the best from whoever accepts us??
  13. how do you find a doctor that bulk bills? is there a list, or is it a case of calling round and asking.
  14. Do they have MOT's in Perth. Also, whats the deal with rego? Also, how do I pay the "stamp duty". Bought and sold a few in the UK but these words and the process are different to what I am used to and not being in the country yet, I dont have a local to ask.
  15. Got me worried about the levy now. How do you work out how much it will be?
  16. Candy, how are you doing PetCVs? I have a dog and would like to do something similar, but wouldnt know where to start??
  17. So there are coverage schemes that are just for ambulance and dental care? Seems like its a selection of 3 or 4 policies on the insurance sites. I know its a "you never know thing" but my wife and I are both in our twenties with our littlen being 20 months, so we are not going to need cover for arthritis or hip replacements or cateract treatment. Just seemed like the cost of these policies cover thngs that I wouldnt normally expect to need. **I do know that there may be something that comes up that I dont expect***
  18. I guess the problem is, most homes are saying "available now" so if you are looking 3/4/5 weeks in advance, you may struggle to get accepted. Seems like there is a lot of competition, and you would imagine, via law of averages, that one of the people keen, would be available to move in tomorrow. I move out next saturday and have a let arranged for 30 days also, for the same reason. Dont think I will be able to secure a rental when I am only available 6 weeks in advance. Saying that. If you are able to cut short your short term rental, maybe with a weeks notice, you would always be one of the candidates that could move in relatively quickly
  19. Seems like private medical cover is not taken out by all. I dont really understand what is "free" on medicare. Does anyone know the associated costs of treatment in WA for GP visits, prescriptions, ambulance, dental checkups and fillings? Also, does a child <2yrs old get free treatment/prescriptions/dental checkups as a minor, like you would do in the UK? $2-300 a month seems pretty steep, and im not sure what I am getting that I dont get on medicare, other than specialist services?
  20. Hooning!! Driving fast and like a ****
  21. Do I need to decalre prescription medicine? Do I need to delcare babies powdered milk formula? Also, will I be allowed to bring 2 baby bottles with 8oz water in them from home onto the plane?
  22. Hi, what happens to the dogs in quarantine. are they given any tme to get out and excersise? or are they in their cage/kennel for the 30 days unless you pay for someone to go in and see them, excersise them? In that case, would the only human contact be that of the feeder twice a day?
  23. Was reading through the car seats page for a bit. What happens if we bring out british one with us and use it? The one we have uses a seatbelt not isofix so would be as secure as it would be in a british car. Who's going to check and what would be the issue if it was to come to light.
  24. Can Amaysim be used in a UK 3g dongle to be used in a laptop?
