  1. its worth bearing in mind that there are ways in Australia to buy vehicles for less that carsales.com prices and below redbook. i realize its not for everyone, but for example auctions in Australia are far more transparent than the uk. the bidding process is more transparent - no bids "off the wall", and all newer vehicle come with vehicle inspection reports - detailing faults. I've been involved in car sales in uk and australia and also looked into importing. Thats not to say in some circumstances its not worth it - but for bread and butter vehicles you need to look beyond the straight redbook price. for example is it Australian spec (will main agents recognize the VIN and have all the parts). There are plenty of cars that in UK are diesel but mainly sold in Australia in petrol. As unlikely as it sounds big petrol engined vehicles (which no one wants in uk and so are worth next to nothing) maybe best to bring out here - for example land cruiser and BMW X5 V8 petrol. Friendless in the UK but in demand out here
  2. Thanks Pom Queen. That's what i thought when it was mentioned
  3. Hi Andy Thanks for that. I'll let you know if i find anything more about it.
  4. Barclays International (IOM) will remortagage a UK house for an expat who lives and works overseas: http://www.barclayswealth.com/international/mortgages-loans/borrowing-more.htm
  5. Hi i just spoke to someone from Aussie Mortgages and he told me some lenders will accept equity in a UK house towards a deposit here. It seemed so unlikely that i didn't push him on which banks and thought I'd come home to do my own research. I can't find anything obvious about it on the net, so my question is will an Oz bank accept equity that is in a UK property as part of a deposit or in lieu of mortgage insurance. To be clear I'm not talking about me taking the money out via a UK bank (because as i haven't had a UK income for some time i think that would be difficult). Thanks in advance
