Hi John. What you're trying to convince DIBP of is that your relationship is that of a married couple but without the marriage certificate. Every defacto couple's situation is different and you might benefit from seeking professional advice about how to document your relationship. -

I've been involved in the migration industry now for over 30 years and I can honestly say that this is the hardest it's ever been to get into Australia. If you think you might be eligible to apply now then I would encourage you to consider it!

Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience Peter. I would agree with guest76088 and Rupert's comments. Not everyone needs to use an agent to represent them through the whole visa process but there may be issues that arise whereby seeking professional help would be useful.
