Ah awesome! I called the local council a few months back and they said that they said they have a ceremony in May (doubt we will make that one), July (hopefully that one so I can get HECS before uni), September and November. I really hope we get an approval soon! He told me because he works for human services he can only send off the info I gave him and my test results. He didn’t say about 6 weeks but he did say leave it a few days before you try and contact them. Good luck!!!

We are hoping that if we get the july one its before 18th and after 28th as we'll be in Bali then. If not then hopefully we can get the September one. Knowing our luck it will slap bang in the middle of our holiday! Our test date was whilst we were on the plane back from Port Douglas, couldn't get a new date so had to pay for an earlier flight!

I want an invite to the Home Affairs Christmas party as I've more than contributed lol!,

Good luck to you too 🤞

    Date of Test/Interview: 08/05/2019

    Test/Interview Location: Centrelink Kawana, SC

    Immi account Status Approval: waiting

     Approval Letter: waiting

    Ceremony: Waiting

    hi guys!

Here is my timeline and I’m just wondering what are other Sunshine Coast timelines like? Because we do the test at Centrelink with the department of human services, they collect the info and test you and then send it to home affairs.

my question is, because we do the test at Centrelink does it mean we get a slower approval than others who get tested at an immigration office? Can other Sunshine Coast residents share their timelines for me please?

    Thank you

    Hi,

We did our test at the same place as you on the 24th April.

We were told to call Home Affairs after 6wks if we hadn't received our approval letter.

Will be interesting to see how we both get on. We may get the same ceremony date 😀

  3. There's very strong extenuating circumstances in our case and immigration are aware of these. Still waiting for a response from them and I'm hoping that no news is good news at this stage. They have completed a triage form on our behalf which gets sent to triage dept and they then pass it onto the relevant team. This highlights that it is urgent.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of anyone who had had the initial entry date extended or whether they review and decline regardless. Although, I would like to think this process does mean there is a possibilty that an extension can be granted.

    Fingers crossed anyway.

    Cheers

Congratulations! My parents agent is UK based so if they are lucky to get the golden ticket today then they've yet to hear. Kind of hoping for tomorrow as it will be exactly 6yrs to the day since we got ours!

    Hi

Did everyone who paid their second VAC and were promised their visa for 1st July have their visa granted? I was hoping to to be greeted today by a cascade of jubilant entries rejoicing about finally having their visa granted. I hope the silence is not an ominous sign.

    Thank you Clare

I really hope your parents will be receiving 2nd payment request soon. Let’s see what happens this week because last year PVC didn’t issue a number of requests to applications until the last two weeks of May 2017. Also it has been quiet for 1.5 months at PVC so I guess there should be some great news in the coming weeks.

I just posted bank cheque and hope her visa will be granted upon the receipt of cheque. Once confirmed, I will be confident to book tickets and so on. Anticipating 3 weeks

My beautiful mum will live with my partner and me in Adelaide and we can’t wait to pick her up.

    Fingers crossed Peter.

All the very best to you and your family.

    Good morning Clare

    Thank you for your message.

How is yours parents application going? Have you got any feedback from agent since last time?

    kind regards

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

My parents haven’t heard a bean from their agent. It’s frustrating but at least they’re at the back end of this waiting game.

So happy for you though, when is your mum joining you?

Whereabouts in Aus are you based?

    Cheers,

    Clare

    Hi Tina and Zaki

    Thanks for thinking of me.

I just got a 2nd VAC payment request a few hours ago by email from PVC team 1. I was trilled by this exciting news and lucky got a bank cheque arranged before the bank was closed.

I will post the cheque later this morning by express and hope the visa is granted upon the arrival of bank cheque sometime next week.

I will surely keep you updated

    Cheers

    Peter

    Congratulations Peter,

    Fantastic news!

Let's be honest Neither party cares, labour was in government when they screwed up thousands of  International students with several retrospective changes. My son was directly affected twice and then when everything was front loaded as required, visa lodged and paid for the labour government retrospectively changed the rules. He was one of the lucky ones, on a bridging visa for 3 years before being one of the very few who got PR. Most students had to leave after living here for years, as the route to PR was refused, many lost their money as the government made it very hard to reclaim it.

so don't hold your breath that Labour will be any more immigrant/parent friendly.

I totally agree neither party cares, same in the UK. Doesn’t mean I can’t voice my opinion of them to them when I do become a citizen

The government tend to blame none citizens because they don’t have votes right.

it looks like the current government is deliberately delaying grant 143 visa by technically reducing 143 visa places yearly and setup roadblocks to delay the whole process ( it takes about 14-18 weeks for AOS processing - unbelievable)

Any change shouldn’t affect the applicants that currently waiting on the queue as they met all the criteria set by the government at the time of submission.

It would be great if someone in this forum asks his/her sponsor to reach out to SBS or the Guardian to get media attention about contributory parent visa long delay processing, then hopefully some senators will step up to give some pressures to the current government  (we have been told that the processing time is 18-24 months by the time of application)

    Kev

I’m looking forward to the day one of them knocks on my door canvassing for my vote. They won’t have a clue what’s hit them!

All Aussie governments seem ruthless  even to their own depts. - staffing levels. They also tend to blame immigrants for many things, eg their poor infrastructure investment. We are  easy prey, but who votes them in?

Not me, I’m not a citizen...yet. That’s another queue that keeps on growing, despite us living here for the right amount of time that the criteria asked for when we applied.

You are right, they seem to have an issue with all us immigrants.   Why allow us in the country to then blame us when it things don’t add up,  surely the blame lies with those who agreed to let us in in the first place.

When I do get to vote though I will use my vote wisely. ?

  12. My frustration doesn't have anything to do with the issue that parent visas are costing the Government more money. My annoyance is based on the lack of communication to everyone who has paid the initial visa application fee based on the criteria that the Government set at the time of the application. For Immigration to continuously move the goal posts is disgusting. If the costs have risen dramatically then put the changes in place for those that have not yet applied and stop penalising those who have followed the criteria, regardless of Nationality or the number of people on the application form.

I'm not great with politics but it's not rocket science to figure that older people might have to visit the doctor more frequently than a person much younger than them. This isn't a new thing so you can't tell me they have just come to that realisation. Jeez who are voting in these thick sh*ts!!

Some like me,  prefer to do UK police checks before leaving  and entering on a  600 visa. Mine expires July 20th. Here's hoping. I don't expect a refund from immi anyway. They say you should not do anything until asked or visa issue.

My parents, (along with others) were asked by Immi back in October last year to obtain medicals and police checks in preparation. I don't know anyone who has done them off their own backs and if they did then I wouldn't expect a refund. However, once they request you to do them, you do it as you are led to believe that once all is in place and they reach the assessing timeframe for your lodgement date then the request for the 2nd VAC would follow soon after. We're on 2 months and counting and not a word since. Very frustrating.
