  1. Hi Colette, I am a fully qualified gas safe registered engineer and am currently in the process of trying to obtain a 190 state sponsorship visa for WA, We are currently waiting to be assigned a case officer and have our medicals done (Me, my wife and our two young boys) my main worry with regard to the big move is work so if gas safe registered engineers are what you are looking for perhaps you could message me for a chat.... Many thanks Steve
  2. Hi mate, Just put your gas safe details and any other qualifications you have, i put all my gas safe details, energy efficient and un-vented hot water....basically detail everything you have, good luck.....oh and by the way the practical......do not lose any sleep over it. Steve
  3. Hi Barry, i believe you were in the bay next to me.......yeah it was such a worry leading up to it, i suppose it is only natural to feel that way but what a weight off eh???? the way i see it now is, we have done all we can to prove to DIAC we are capable of what we said we were, it is now down to them, once we have completed numerous amounts of further appliactions, to decide whether we meet their criteria.......have you submitted you EOI yet??? i am just doing mine now..... keep in touch mate Steve
  4. Hi all i have just completed my plumbing practical at the college of North West London and if anyone is booked in for future plumbing practicals please do not worry, as many posts on here have said, if you are a plumber you will not struggle with what they give you to do. If the guys that were also on this assessment want to keep in touch with me that would be good as if and when we all get to Oz it is always nice to stay in touch.... Cheers Steve
  5. When i done my IELTS there were 35 of us in the class.....5 English 30 foreign us English trying to get a new life in Oz the other 30 were seeing at what level they can study in this country........for free no doubt............
  6. Thanks.....Good luck to you too....also with the writing IELTS they are hot on spelling, punctuation and paragraphing......dont want much do they.....
  7. You are welcome......but it really is so simple it is unreal.......i know how you feel though regardless of how many people told me "Dont worry, you will be fine" you still cant stop thinking about it....i am a plumber and have my practical exam on Saturday....now i have been plumbing for years and i have to go to college and show them i can do what i have been doing for years.......am i worried..........TOTALLY!!!!!
  8. Hi Donna The best thing you can do is not worry.....i know its easy said but i worried for ages about mine and got 8.5 overall......if your native language is English then you will be fine.....the speaking is the simplest, they just ask you to talk about different things like the weather, where you grew up etc, then they give you a topic that you have to talk on for 2 minutes, mine was "A tv programme" i watched recently i had to say what is was about and what i felt i learnt from it. The hardest of all the IELTS is the listening.......Simply because it gets harder as it goes on and if you miss one answer you will miss a few, so just get in the zone and concentrate.....honestly you should not struggle to get 8.5......good luck
  9. Hi Ian, I have my vetasses practical on 8/12/12 and wondered if you had any info in the sprinkler systems and septic tanks that apparently they test you on, as i have never done either of them.....i have been reading your latest posts about work concerns and i although you are a lot further into the move than me i hope to be in your position soon and this job situation has worried me from the start and still is a major concern......I have a friend who moved to Perth in August and he says work is plentiful there but you do not actually know until you get there.........i think you would be wise to try and rent your house out here and rent there, i have heard a couple of horror stories whereby people have totally cut there ties with the UK and things have not worked out in Oz and they are not able to buy back into the UK.....now that is not a nice position to be in is it.......if i get through this practical and then the subsequent state sponsorship and visa application i would be renting my house out here and renting in WA.........It is all so daunting and a big step but your posts have been nothing but informative and confident, the nearer it gets the more it is worrying,i shall ask my friend who is in Baldivis if he has any contacts for you if you would like me to, then he could sort you then when i get there you can sort me........
  10. Hi Ian, My email address is miless1@sky.com would you please be able to send me over some information that you have on septic tanks and sprinkler systems.... Thanks mate Steve
  11. Hi Allan, For your paperwork you will need at "statement of service" which details from day one of your plumbing career what you done, where you done it, who you done it for and what tools you used. You will need all you trade certificates, 3 trade references (from your suppliers) 3 customer references, letter from HMRC noting your status (self employed, employed ltd complany etc) all this has to be photo copied and certified by a solicitor ( my paper work consisted of 40 sheets solicitors charge about £1 a sheet).....My advice to you my friend is contact Mick from Destination Oz, he is brilliant, very helpful.......I passed stage one of my paperwork last week, the same day i got my IELTS results, i have just paid for my practical and am now awaiting dates to be released....... Steve
  12. HI Ian, I have just read your post and it is very helpful, i am a plumber/gasfitter chasing the Aussie dream, i have completed level one with vetassess and just got the results of my IELTS which are ok.....I have now just paid for my practical and am awaiting dates, my main worry is all the questions about septic tanks and sprinkler systems, basically i have never done either, i am going to swat up on them but i assume there is quite a bit to know about them.....there is only so much you can blag. Cheers my friend Steve
