1. Yes, I've heard that too... he represented the Liberal Party in my locality (Sydney South East) :-)
 2. Tomorrow are the elections. Is there any hope with the new government ??
 3. Can someone please advise what is the IELTs requirement for the student visa VET course. I am from India. The institute says that I have to score 5 and a individual score of 5.5 in all in the General IELTs. I am from India. thanks...
 4. My sister's LLR has been processed in India since she applied from here.
 5. While over 10 yrs is the promised time, I would like to be more optimistic and say the visas of 2013 should be received in a couple of years given that they are processing June 2011. If the number of visas per year for this category is increased substantially, then we can expect them issued earlier.
 6. Oh ok. Thanks. I thought they were processing visas of Jun 2011 currently.
 7. My sister's application has been assessed by a CO and he has given her a queue date of 13th Mar 2013. He had not asked for Meds and PCC as yet. Any idea what comes next ?
 8. Update on my sister's case. Applied on July 2011 and CO assigned on 27th September, 2011. However, CO sent email for some requests to wrong email ID (typo) and then resent again last month (June 2012). Will then be put in a queue. Error by CO = our bad luck !!
 9. This is good news to atleast know now that we are not forgotten. I wonder how many more visas before they can reach July 2011 when my sister applied. Unfortunately she could not apply before because, I had to get my PR first.
 10. Thanks for you reply. Did not know that it took that long. Got confused when they mentioned about a CO in 3 months and thought that that meant we at least had a queue date.
 11. Hi, My Sis applied for 115 and got a reply nearly immediately acknowledging receipt and telling her that she would get a case officer in 3 months. While that did not happen, at least not known to us, don't understand what they mean by queue date. We are from india. Does anyone know.
 12. Hi, Sorry to hear that. What does assigned a queue mean? Does it mean that your application was acknowledged? My sister applied in July 2011 and got an acknowledgement in a couple of hours saying that she would get a case officer within 3 months. Does this mean she is assigned to a queue or is it when she gets a CO?
 13. Thats surprising given the fact that the LRR visa rules changed in 2010 and before that, most visas were processed within 2-3 months !! Did not even dream that they had a backlog !

Hi Claire

Hows the baby ? It is good to know all is well with your move and I pray that everything continues to be that way. I can just imagine how hard it must be with children, but they are a blessing aren't they :-)

I am already in Sydney, I arrived just last month. I still can't imagine that I am here, I remember so clearly how we were waiting for the ACT sponsorship and then suddenly everything happened so quickly :-) It is freezing out here especially since I have come from a much warmer climate and never really experienced chilly winters. Canberra is even colder !! :-) Just waiting for the weather to settle down before I move there. I have already informed ACT and they were kind to send me a portal for good places to live. Have you informed the ACT ? They also offer a week's help, although I don't know if that will be enough.

Anyway, do keep in touch and Good luck with your move !

 15. Hi both, I have noticed that the mail was acknowledged by the Australian High Commission in India (application filed from Australia by agent to India . Wondering if the processing will be done by them ? I think both your answers are similar in the sense that a queue date will be given if the application is 'straightforward' and processed and then when visas becomes available, you will get your visa. I wonder what is the status right now of how many visas have been granted for this year so far ? Hopefull all will get their visas quickly. Good luck !!
 16. Hi My sister applied for LRR on 5th July and was told that she would be allocated a CO in 8 weeks. What does this mean ? Will her application be processed now or if not now when ? Anyone knows ?
 17.

Hi

Congratulations !! Good to know that you got your visa. I have not left as yet but am on my way beginning July, 2011. Good luck to you and have a good trip.

 18. Hi How do you change your application to an onshore application, iIf I have applied for an offshore LRR visa ? We are looking a using this option for my youngest sister and unfortunately, this is the only option.

Hi Sherin

Hope all is going well with your visa processing.

I was granted my visa today and I am so excited. Not yet planned on my move but I have upto Dec, 2011 to decide.

 20. Wow... six years sounds out of the blue. I have never heard ths kind of visa taking so long. I thought it would be 1 to 2 years max. Why did she tell you to do Meds and PCCs if it was going to take this long ? Well, we will have to wait and see.

Hi Sherin

Oh thank goodness it was only that. I did not know we had Emedials from India. I was not given that option here in Mumbai, they probably do not have it. Surprising, as this is a very big clinic where you have the cream of Mumbai coming here :-)

Nothing has changed for me and it still shows as referred. Hopefully, it will be soon.

 22. I too have family in Sydney and I have ACT sponsorship. I think there are many who have SS although they have family in another state. Spending 2 years away from family is no big deal because I can still go down and visit and vise versa. It is easier this way than staying in another country where you can't meet at all.
 23. You can definitely apply for a Tourist Visa. However I am not to sure if you are eligible for a LRR visa as your mother's residence is not Australia and you cannot include a dependent with this visa. Besides, your sisters reside in Canada and not Australia. You will have to read through the rules for this kind of a visa. You should have looked at the opportunity of getting a state to sponsor you as once you are on the SMP, it is way quicker and you have to reside in the state for only 2 years. What is your occupation ? and where does your brother reside ?

Hi Sherin,

Hope all is well. Have you heard anything back regarding your medicals from your CO ? My presumption is that they will need some extra reports regarding your fracture because it is very recent.

There is no change in my status as yet.

 25.

Hi Sherin,

How are things going for you ? I have completed and submitted all the required documentation and am now awaiting a revert from them. PCCs and Medicals were the last that i had submitted.
