We live in Piara Waters close to Cockburn and its lovely. Close to Perth, the beach and shops! Quite alot of us pommies live around this area too!!
-
I still see lots of people coming here through my work place (I do all the work medicals!) Saying that I hear of people going back to the UK. Perth is what you make of it. There is still work to be found here! My hubby has never been out of work in the flooring trade since being here and neither have I!

Hey Harris family whats the reason you guys are moving back? Do you have kids going back too?
-
Have you tried Kent?
-
How old is your eldest? Are you guys glad you made the move though?
-
My boys are almost 15 and 17 this year! So would leave it until both boys have finished school. I have no idea about college can they go there when they are 18 as thats what my eldest would be if we moved? Just worry I would ruin their lives moving back when they are older!
-
That's what I'm worried about wouldn't want to leave my kids here . We came here thinking great opportunity for the kids work wise etc but now I don't think it is as its getting hard to find work out here in Perth!

is medicare the same as nhs? Say I (God forbid I dont!) had to have a bypass or something serious like that does medicare pay for it or do we have to fork out? I was under the impression if it's a life or death situation then Medicare covers it but after talking to Aussies who don't seem to know how their system works I'm not so sure!!'

Anyone moved back with older kids middle teens? Feel we would mess their life up if we moved back

Bushmans works well for me as I normally get eaten by mossies!!

it looks like my electrical career could be over now, i studied at college for 4 years in my mid 20's got cg 2330 level 3 all the regulations and c&g 2391, started life as a floorfinisher and carried on with both jobs for the past 10 yrs, i applied and got my visa through floorfinisher and i decided to apply for an artc for the electrical side of things . it got refused basically saying
1. did not meet paragraph 4 of the criteria for the united kingdom
2.has been employed for not less than 7 years on work ordinarily performed by an electrical tradesperson in that classification and is capable of performing the work of that classification in australia
3. it was unclear from your employment evidence (which showed employment as a floor finisher and an electrician) whether you demonstrated the full range of duties expected of an electrical mechanic over a 7 year period
i declared i have always been self employed and had an informal apprenticeship and even with supporting evidence from 2 different companies and also working on government installations it appears i am deemed not competent enough for australia
:arghh:

Hi Iron Chef I've sent you a private email to see if you can start the ball rolling!! That previous quote from Pwkl seems far too much!!!
-
Hi derren7 you said hubby has to get his skill recognised by tra can he do that in oz as we're running out of time we leave in few months? He thought he could do some kind of intensive course over there to get his skill recognised.
-
Hi Ironchef I've emailed you with all our details, can you give us a quote what the roughish total would be for the import tax etc etc! Thanks!!!!!
-
Hi guys just a quick question my hubby is a qualified sparky here in uk, he's got 2 trades flooring and sparky and we went down the pr route via flooring. If theres not alot of flooring work about can he look for work as an electrician I know he has to do some kind of college course over there can anyone give us any info on that?
-
Hi Bob thanks for that!!! With all the help you give out are you not sick of Krispy Kremes?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got to get the blood test done in 3 weeks time so beingas we're going 20th Jan hoping if new rules come in it wont hit us too bad!!!

Hi blackwater, we've got a 2010 zafira but because its gonna cost us around £6k in import taxes etc we've decided against it! Love my car too if we can get it any cheaper to ship it I would! Let me know what you come up with!

So does that mean if (hopefully we dont!!!) things dont work out for us can we bring our dog back into the uk from Oz without a 6 month quarantine?? I'm not sure whether to apply for a pet passport although I know time is running out as we leave Jan 20th. Have just got her rabies shot just incase!!!!

Hey do we need to get police clearance certificates when doing our citizenship online form? It says something about penal clearance certificates if been outside Oz for a totoal of 12 months after getting permanent residency which we haven't! Cheers seems like a lot of form filling and document finding again!!!!!
