  1. Also if he has no qualifications that are officially recognised, there is the possibility he could get an Australian qualification called an AQF. These can be obtained through various recognised training organisations (RTO) in oz and work on the basis of recognised prior learning (RPL).

This is the route I took and the cost was around AU$1000. Mine didn't take long, about 4 weeks, but I've heard of others that have taken 6 months+. I think it depends on the level of technical testing involved.

Excellent. I;ve sent them all that info. Now just need to keep planting the seed:jimlad:. Good to know its possible. Thank you for your help.

  2. Best find exactly what he does and cross reference the duties with the anzsco codes.

If he assesses and fixes domestic electrical appliances it sounds more like an electrical technician. Think this is TRA who assess.

    thanks off to check that.

  3. Hi, I am running away with myself a bit but just after general advice rather than specifics. my life long friend ho is the one person i'll miss terribly when we move let it slip earlier that her and her husband may consider a move abroad but didn't they'd qualify for Oz.

He works in electrnics and i don't know te full insand outs of his qulifications and work experience but I am almost certain he doesn't have a degree/diploma but know he has almost 20 years exp and hs done loads of courses and certificates.

As i said i don't know specifics but does no degree mean no go or can work experience count.

Then i can set to work convincing them

  4. Hi Bisvegasgirl73 i just want to say good luck. To those judging you on here and in the real life I am proof that it can work. I met and fell for my husband whilst on holiday at 16. Although it was a UK holiday it was too far to maintain. We lost touch and moved on, he was in a long term relationship and i got married and had my eldest daughter. I knew deep down i loved my now husband but he wasn't in my life.

A friend of mine bumped into my now husband one night as i was about to move back down to Cornwall (skipped some moving around the country for ease of storytelling) and facilitated us meeting aain. Yes i was married but my ex was alcoholic, a danger to my daughter and i needed out. I moved, i left my ex. Myhusband moved down 2 months later. 7 years on we are married with 2 children of our own and about to move to start a new life again. Yes i was wrong to allow my now relationship to happen whilst married, yes i was wrong to marry someone whilst still holding feelings for someone else. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Life isn't straight forward. Yes I hurt my Ex but my daughter is now safe and happy and so am I.

I really hope you find a way to b togeter x

  5. Sold our house before we even got the visa, a huge risk but it worked, mind you back then we had no choice as we had to put a $100k in bonds to gain the extra 5 points

A roundabout inheritance for us. not a huge amount so we'll have to do it on a budget. we were trying to save before that but just treading water. As medical staff you may get a relcation package certainly worth looking at.

  6. I would forget France and just go out together in the summer, this journey to your new life is one that is best shared. And not least because otherwise one of you has to fly with 3 children. Seriously, I am still sorry that me and the OH flew a few days apart, we missed that joint excitement.

Unless you are in very specific occupation (nursing maybe engineering) it is hard to secure work before arriving.

Thanks Rupert, sadly you are right although my career is relatively specialised it is unlikely either of us will secure work in advance, which is why we need to go seperately. At the risk of starting a "can u really afford it" argument - we are part of the long running thread "can u do it with less than 10k" - although tbh we have a little more we can't justify spending thousands on short term lets when my husband has a place to stay. His mate is a single guy renting a smalll place so 5 of us pitching up wouldn't work. like you say i would give anything to start this together and whilst i hate the idea of being apart 1night let alone 1 month it is that that will start our new life so therefore it's worth it. As is flying on myown with the 3 kids.......i'll keep telling myself that . Happy New Year and heres hoping for a miracle

  7. Try the Office for Overseas Migration. We saw a thread about them, got quotes and they were half the price of either agents or the companies themselves. We did direct comparisons with their quotes and agents + companies and they were over 50% cheaper.

They are a charity organisation who specialise in flights for refugees but they also do migrant flights, which means you get lots of extra baggage allowance. My husband has gone out with Emirates and got a 40kg weight limit, even though he was in economy. You do need to email them copies of all of your passports, plus a copy of your visa grant letter to prove you are emigrating.

If you want to contact them the email to contact is: bookingsuk@ion.int

We found them to be absolutely excellent, very quick to respond and everything went very smoothly.

Thanks i got a quote from then but they said nothing with Singapore air and quoted with Malaysia air and not that much cheaper than skyscanner. :nah:

  8. couldyou try nsw an go regional. you could be near the nsw/ qld border and then you are still relativelyclose to Brisban and you also have the choce to look for work elsewhere in the state if you completely change yourmind????

  9. Personally I wouldn't waste the money. Medicare, Rego place, jobs, rental agents etc have all accepted print outs of my visa for the last five years! Never once even been asked why I didn't have a sticker.

my visa was granted earlier this month and like you i saw the recommendation to send. i questioned my coand he was adamant that all authorities and employers can check the visa system withour permission and grant number. still prefer somthing tangible tho

  10. The OP is asking about all other family members of her Son, as this is a child 101 visa she is applying for, (the OP will be the sponsor)

Therefore need to state who all family members are.

i stand corrected. apologies i thought she was talking about an acompanying form. hope you fid the answer you need

  11. buti thought that all dependant family members emmigrating or not had to go through medicals. if you add them as children then surely they'll need medicals, i can't believe ah are interested in your exs children if you were never responsible for them. i know on my form i had to add my step siblings but i didn't add my exs step children my daughters step siblings. There was no logical place to do so. i may be wrong ust thinking practically

  12. it's dire. i see you are in the We(s)t country too. difficult this year with themove imminant for us to stay positive, we are stuck in doors days on end feeling like we can'tventure out as everything costs too much. i am chomping at the bit to have some better weather

  13. Hi

Can anyone please tell me the cost of the medicals for the 457 visa - done in the UK. I suppose it depends on where you go or what surgery you attend?

    Thanks!

There are only a number of places that can do a visa medical. To my knowledge there is no difference to medicals depending on visa. Only difference i'm aware of is f you plan to work in medicine you have to have extra bloods done. At Pymouth it cost me 270 and the kids 90 each.

  14. Hi, I hope everyone has had a nice Christmas :xmas12:

We are ready to book our flights and I am just after some advice on the best way to proceed given our plans.

We are heading to Sydney in the summer. Our plan stands that if neither my husband or I secure a job before then, we'll go to France at the end of July and stay with family for a few weeks. My husband will fly ahead to Sydney and stay with a friend in the hope of getting some work and a rental before we fly out.

I am a nervous flier and therefore I am choosy who I fly with, therefore we would like to fly with Singapore or Emirates, but would consider Qantas and BA also.

What we are uncertain of is whether to just book 5 flights on the same date as they are getting more expensive and we can amend the dates later when we have a better idea of what we are doing (but I think that will mean we'll end up with a lot of charges altering flights)

Book my husband a flight at the beginning of Aug and then us follow at the beginning of Sept. May mean we have to little time between him going and us arriving and then we'll still face amending flights and possibly not getting 4 seats at the last minute, also face increased fare costs.

Also we face the dilemma that we are applying for jobs and if I secure work which is the more likely outcome, that we'd have to change my flight and replace it with my husbands, again could get costly.

Is it better to book through and agent or direct with the airline? I'm wondering if an agent would have more choices if we need to change? In theory my husband could fly with anyone out there as he would be going by himself and I would be traveling on my own with the 3 kids, which is going to be hell !!!!

Does anyone have any experience of amending flights and how easy it was or just general advice really based on the scenario above?

Finally does anyone know of any good flight sales at the moment? Lol

    Thanks:wink:

  15. Hi Claire, not 100% sure it's the same but when we first looked at Oz we did a similar thing. my husband is a chef with 15 years expbut his qualifications weren't what they recognised. a migration agent advised he took an assessment to give him equivalent quaification. would have cost us £1k ifi recall correctly adconsisted of a couple of days (certainly short) i think its to prove you have the equivalent skills to hnd. maybe speak to an agent to check?

  16. so sorry to hear you are so close to this awful tagedy. i think the crash was in a lot of peoples thoughts as it was headline news yesterdy. our thoughts are with you and your family and of course your sister at this truly awful time. i hope your trip home helps you and your family. x

  17. Urgent help please:

Hubby is going to take his visa application to the Consulate in person because of the short amount of time until Christmas shutdown.

If you lodged your 309/100 partner visa in person, what address did you take it to?

    Many thanks!

I didn't lodge it in person but there is only on place and having been there with my husband it tells you where to go. it's at the op of the strand just at the end of Holborn

  18. No-one knows what this will cost you as it all depends on what Customs find and decree at the time. Sorry not very helpful but that is how it is...

thanks kibda got the impression there was no continuity from the custms website. ah well guess i'll have to ake it and be prepared it may cost several hundred:unsure:
