  1. Have they missed the boat with skills route? The visa limit has now been lifted to 50. COuld your Mum approach another company and see if they could sponsor her now with this raise?

This isn't the route I am taking so not entirely sure of the ins and out. But worth a look

Hi this is my very first post on PIO forums so I apologize if this doesn't turn out well.

Basically I just found out that my parents have been tying to migrate to Australia to be near us for the past 18 months. Since we have had two children, they want to be here to help us so getting here fairly quickly is something they would like. However, I'm not sure where to start with them. I'll try and keep things brief.

My husband and I moved here almost 5 years ago, we hold pernament visas. My parents are now 48 and 50 yrs old. My step dad is a plumber and also has gas certificates, my mum has a complicated job, however, she tells me she applied for a job but was refused because they wouldn't sponsor her for a visa due to her age!! They both wish to continue working. My step dad currently owns his own business.

I guess I'm wondering what the quickest and least costly way is to get them out here? I've looked at so many visas but they either cost the earth or take a long time. Do you think it would be best to make an appointment o speak to someone in immigration? I'm sure my step dad would be able to get a business visa due to his skills and he is younger than my mum. I'm thinking that a business visa is cheaper and quicker as the parent visas are both very costly and can take years. The quick method can cost around $42,0000 and the slow method possibly a wait up to 15 years. My parents have money and can support themselves but I know that it would be silly for them to spend so much on a visa. it seems your parents can only migrate if you have a lot of money or are prepared to wait a long time. Their support would be more valuable to us now, as we have two children under two.

Anyway can anyone give me any info? Has anyone got their parents out here? How did you do it? How long did it take?

I should also mention that my parents are coming on holiday in January for a few weeks. There are in shore options as well aren't there?

Thank you I hope someone can help me

  2. thanks for the reply, it must be so hard to apply when u are married with kids together we dont mind because we've only been together 2 1/2 years living together 1 1/2 so its fair enough to prove it not a sham but when you have kids together i think its ridiculous. Could they ever jutify refusing it and split up a family?

Do you know what that never really occured to me. I was just grateful not to have to jump through so many hoops to prove it. But now you say it, it is pretty silly. But then I guess people out there get married just for this purpose.

  3. We're the same and we have just filed and I spoke with my case officer today. We don't have hoards f friends and as we have young children and relocated found it difficult to have many friends near us. We got Mother in law, my best friend , my childminder and one of my local friends to do a stat dec. Says it should be australian but if not possible someone from your own country and asks for 2. We sent pictures of us out and about. Some just the two of us and others with friends. Wedding invites and cards to us both. Also joint council tax claim and child tax credit claim. I am aware you are in Oz so may not have these, but it does say evidence that you have declared your relationships to authorities.

Our folder wasn['t packed to busting like some I hear but our case officer is more than happy with the evidence, although we are married with kids so I guess it makes it slightly easier.

    Good luck

  4. Hi just had a phone call from my case worker. We have JC. she was very lovely and heloful. She will request medicals in 3 months to keep within their guidelines but help us out with a longer leadin time. Confirmed I will go straight onto the 100 which is a relief and just a couple of bits of minor info required. My ex didn't certify his passport copy and I need to give the addresses fo rthe last 10 years. All good :-)

  5. Hi K8bug79, we're heading to Perth and as soon as possible really. OH already has his visa but we've not been in a position to get ours (me and our daughter) until the house was sold, however, time was running out with the 1st of July looming so i've sent it off anyway. Hoping to exchange on our house sale this week. Fingers crossed it doesnt fall through . Ive had such a flap today, OH has been laughing at me running around trying to get things certified. Only remembered at 3 today that my friends dad is a magistrate, so went flying round there with a promise of a bottle of red . Its just so nerving not really knowing what they're going to decide. Silly really especially when you know its all above board. I suppose only time will tell.

Visa buddies.... i like it !

I am with you there, i ran around on Friday and then pics on saturday. I hope the house sale keeps moving for you

  6. The weight has been lifted.... ive finally posted my application off today, special delivery. Its such a relief to see it go and fingers crossed they have everything they need. So excited :jiggy:

Hi Samlee337 we can be visa buddies lol. I sent mine yesterday arrived this morning and they have already taken the money. feeling a bit apprehensive about everything now. Hoping that we have provided the right stuff, particularly for me to take my eldest daughter with us (from a previous relationship.

Where are you headed? We hope to go to Sydney but are going to delay it as long as possible. Prob be August next year before we actually move unless we get jobs. Asked fr them to request medicals at the last possible stage. I am not too concerned about the wait because of that, although I am looking forward to being able to apply for jobs when grant is near.

    Good luck

  7. Thanks, I keep going with that theory, my husband is concerned they'll take our money and refuse it.

On another issue we are hoping to get our application off on Monday in for Tuesday. As we want to try and beat the 1st July price hike. However I am waiting for the outcome of an interview for a really good job in this country which would see us delaying our application by a year or so. But we are concerned that the later we file this week the more likely they are to "hold on" to the payment mandate until Monday and apply the new prices. Do you think that is likely? The interview was almost 2 weeks ago and I called on Friday presuming I hadn't got the job but they were still deciding and hoping to let people know early next week. We reason we can hold off posting til Tuesday afternoon, to ensure arrival Wednesday (special delivery). I see that they mostly take payment the same day or following day but worried some ruthless CO may hold out. lol

  8. I am happy to get rid of our baskets/ wicker only really a laundry basket and a couple of storage baskets. But I am worried about a couple of items we got for our wedding and on our honeymoon. We got given a little wooden chest. It is a lightweight wood, not sure what type. It's varnished on the outside but the inside it bare (not treated I think) then we also got some african wooden masks whilst in Zambia. They are tribal masks and again they are varnished on the face but the rear is not treated. Is there a way of treating them as I would be devastated if they got taken away. What happens with other wooden furniture is there something we should d to it before shipping? For example I know one of my units attracts woodlice as i keep finding piles of dead ones under it ????? I can't see any damage to it through them, I am not even sure woodlice normally like wooden furniture, may just be coincidence. But obviously concerned that this will cause problems when we move.

  9. k8bug79 have you got 2 Aussie stat decs?

Wills would be a good idea (irrespective of assets!). Are you named as beneficiaries of each others pensions?

    Thanks John and Eliza.

We are a bit poor on the old forward planning, always intended to get wills but same old story, costs and time etc. We both have very small pensions my husband started his recently with his company and I understand as a spouse I automatically inherit it upon his death so I am not named in it. I haven't paid into mine since before we were together, again due to circumstances.

We don't have 2 x Australian stat decs because we don't know anyone in Oz, well only some distant family who don't know us as a couple. It does say if ts not possible to have 2 Oz stat decs to get someone from your own country.

Eliza, we moved into Helston in 1st Sept 2010 lol. However I grew up here so was coming home.

  10. Hi we are about to send off our application for a spouse 309/100 and wonder if you could tell me if we have enough evidence included. We are a family of 5 (3 children 2 bioogically both and my eldest daughter just mine from a previous marriage)

A selection of bank statements covering the past year evidencing money moving between accounts and paying bills. (I have just highlighted transactions and if necessary labelled them) i will pop in the covering letter what it demonstrates, is that sufficient?

The last 3 years p60s for both of us

We don't have a lot to demonstrate future commitmenta s we don't have many assets and no wills, but our statements do giv great detail about our relationship and future plans etc.

It doesn't feel like enough now taht I write it down but sort of going ott with things like car insurance and electricity bills etc then I can't think what else to add. We are fairly straight forward as we are married with 3 kids. Eeek what do you reckon????

  11. Hi, I have travelled with littlun's in the past, admittedly not long haul. But as pp have said you can take your pushchair. I have taken large ones on Ryan air and thomson and they have been fine and not charged me. Even when it's broken down into carry cot and wheels. We took our carseat one time to go on the wheels too, obviously harder if its not a legal one. But yes car hire cos def hire them. If I was you I would ask your sister to find a cheap second hand cot or travel cot over there and not worry about transporting it, they are faff. We did this with my in laws, the got a £30 second hand cot and kept it throughout our visits whilst kids were smaller, and on another occasion my car broke down a week before going to my Dads and we couldn't fit a travel cot in our smaller car, so we won one of ebay for £15. A quick steam clean will sort either out.

Biggest piece of advice I can give is you really do not need half the stuff you think you will!!!!

Book a seat with a basinette on the bulkhead and you will be travelling with a child at the perfect age.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy

  12. Hello, congrats on being nearly ready to apply. Unless I've missed something, why don't you just wait a couple of months rather than rely on a long lead time/CO remembering to issue late on? If time is on your side submitting in Aug/Sept/Oct will mean granting in plenty of time for next next July, and you'll have a bit of time spare just in case your plans move back a months or so?

    Good luck.

I'm cautious because aside from the annual price hike there has been talk of putting in additional fees for dependants. As we have 3 kids if this were the case it coukd prove a very costly increase. Not entirely sure if that is the intention for the spouses visa but without being certain I'd rather not take the chance. We havea loan ending in sept next year and my youngest would start school so its a good time to go for us.Obv though we'll be looking for jobs sober,as this would solve concern of going with a loan over or heads

  13. Hi, Just popping on to say Hi. We are almost ready to apply. I have an exam on the 11th of June so concentrating on that first then plan to spend the following week finalising our ap. Ready to submit before July 1st.

Just wanted to ask, we would like a long lead in time. We are thinking apply June, grant Dec/ Jan and to go no earlier than July, more likely August. We ideally don't want to leave it til the last possible moment to go before visa expires so we are wanting to ask them to wait for police checks and medicals until visa is ready to grant. Aus House said just to send a letter stating this and that'll be fine. But has anyone actually done this, is it ok and was the CO quite happy to do it?

    Thanks

  14. Normally, when the CO requests medicals and police checks it is a sign that the rest of your application is in order and ready to be approved (they don't want you to undertake the additional expense until they're clear that they can offer you a visa).

As most of the processing time is taking by your application sitting in a pile waiting to be looked at, I can't see it being any problem asking your CO to hold off on requesting them from you until they have a clear idea of your grant date.

Thanks Peach, sorry i didn't respond sooner I didn't realise anyone had responded to my question. Thats good to know

  15. Hello,

Just wanted to check something re medicals and police checks with you. i spoke to Australia house the other day and they said that we could request that the meds and pcc were requested just before visa grant to give us a long lead time before we have to move. She just said to write a letter saying we were in no rush. Has anyone done this and does it work? We are hoping to lodge the application in Aug allow 6 months to get it granted (hopefully) and then have about 10-11 months before we have to move or validate. But looking at recent time lines it seems that co's request the meds and pccs almost immediately. Has anyone done it the way I have been advised?

  16. spot on for everything ensure you provide evidence of documents at the same address over the last 12 months

plus can your kids not get a Australian passport?

HI how do you front load your meds? I have read the forms on it and it says you nee dto give an applicaton ref and as they won't give the meds to you do they hold on to them until the ref is available or do Australia House hold onto them ready for the application to arrive?

  17. Hi,

    I have a bit of a dilema,

I have applied for a job. IF I am lucky enough to get it they will naturally want me to start asap. Thing is we weren't planning to go until at least June, as we never have any money to save we are not putting application together until we have the money as whilst we are saying June, we are aware that it coud take us a lot longer to get money together. However if one of us has a job then we can drop and go.....visa depending.

The processing times are scaring me a little. If I had a job offer do you think there is a way I can speed things up a little so I could accept, can't imagine them wanting to wait more than a couple of months.

We would have to do our medicals/ pcs as soon as we knew we wante dto go is it better to get ap in and do them or wiat to submit app until they are done and use e health?
