  1. Thanks for all your comments and advice (and lovely virtual hugs - very gratefully received). My husband suspects that he may have signed a two year contract where if he leaves before then he pays the company back but he will check this on his return to Brissy. If he moves to Melbourne he will still have the same boss unfortunately – his boss is the top dude and hubby is National Product Specialist. We will sit down on Friday night with a couple bottles of wine and discuss all the avenues with your advice at hand. Honestly this is stressful; my skin is all pimply, my hair is falling out, my nails are gone, I’m comfort eating like crazy AND hubby and I can’t shift our colds that we’ve had for over a month! We’ve discussed going back to the UK with our eldest and he is devastated as he just loves it already, we also love it although we miss friends and family so much. Thanks again for taking the time to reply my gloomy post! Will hopefully update with happy news in the near future (cross fingers!)
  2. You guys are great! The boss has told my husband that if he leaves we owe him $10,500 which is what it cost us to move over. We obviously don't have that money but my parents said they would lend us the money. When he returns from Melbourne I will suggest he goes to an employment agency, he is slowly retreating into himself though, sad. He says he has only been in the job less than 3 months so who would employ him! Oh it's doom and gloom hey! On a happier note, Oz is lovely isn't it!
  3. Thanks guys, it's very stressful and a horrible way to start a new life. We are generally happy-go-lucky people so hate feeling so down. Want to get back to being the happy, social people we are. I appreciate your kind words and advice.
  4. My husband is in Oz on a 457 visa, we arrived 3 months ago. Turns out his boss is a complete @~#*@ and its making our lives hell. He is playing God with my husband, he keeps threatening his job and has recently told him that he must see customers during the day and plan/quote etc at nights and weekends (it’s the expectation!). On Saturday evening we were having a lovely time at Southbank when he got an email from his boss saying he needed urgent attention on a matter so my husband replied saying we were out and not in front of the laptop – he was told to then make a plan and get in front of his laptop as he needed the work done! Today’s drama was my husband flew to Melbourne for the week on an 8am flight – his boss said he should have taken an earlier flight, when mentioned that the earlier one was at 6am (leave the house by 4:15am) he was told that he should have done that and again my husband is a disappointment! The very latest thing is his boss saying that he thinks my husband should move to Melbourne to which my husband said that he was not prepared to uproot his family so soon after settling them! This has been met with many threats including job loss. WTF do we do! We are so very stressed, not sleeping, getting ill etc. We so badly want to stay in Oz and make a go of this life. We don’t want to go back to the UK – our boys are so happy here. Sorry for sounding like I’m having a pity party but it took so long for us to get here and now one man is jeopardising it. There is no one above him so my husband cannot go over his head so that isn’t an option. I have told my husband to apply for other jobs but not sure how easy that will be as the new employers would have to be nominated sponsors surely. Sorry my rant is over; your ears can stop bleeding now!
