1. How do we get 100 points for ID? We have photo ID, bank statements, but we are still short! Figured if we gave them a cover letter, references and job offer letters it might do! What do you think? Saw an apt yesterday and want it so badly, don't know what else to do. Its a cut throat world out there!
2. Hi traceyd, hope you are well. My friend lives in Westmead she's from uk. Next gime I go over to see her we can meet up if you want pm me. Regards c x
3. Hi Sydneyanne, thanx for your response. If your service was free of charge I would definitely take you up on your offer! Thank you though, I do appreciate it xx
4. Its easy to dial them yes, I agree! Not so easy to get them to a) answer their phones b) reply to messages c) reply to emails etc. As I said previously, thats the difficult thing!
5. Thanks but looking for a place of our own
6. So today we have viewed the most amazing apartment, I have completely fallen in love with it! We've to apply by Monday am! Two things I need help/advice on! Firstly, we have only been here a matter of weeks and require the 100 point ID check thing! Which the requirements vary from agent to agent! For this one, we both have our passports (50 points each), we have a bank statement (10 points each), I also have a current EU drivers licence, does that give me a further 50 points, or zero as my photo ID is my PP? We don't have any recent payslips (well oh can get one, I haven't been paid yet), we don't have medicare cards or utility bills! We do have letter of reference from previous uk landlord, and previous employers! Don't know what to do cause I want to be prepared on monday, I REALLY want this place!! Please can anyone help! I was going to write a cover letter, what should I put in it! All advice welcome x
7. We are having the same rental issues (or rather lack of) here in Sydney! I've never met a breed like rental agents, most of them don't know how to answer their phones or emails! And have to laugh everytime I see an advert for a rental property that says it has 'floorboards' and is 'painted' well thank god for that! Very good of them to give us something to walk on!! Fingers crossed we get something soon. C x
8. Hi, and thanx for your response. I am starting work in randwick on monday so The Shire is a bit far out for me, as also using public transport! The hunt will continue, just won't be able to put as much time into it now that im going to be working. Trying to remain optimistic!! Thanx again and good luck with everything c x
9. Hi Northshorepom, thanx for your reply. Believe me we are not being over-optimistic, just eager to get a place thats some way decent!! Got a rental pack at the ready (think it may have been you that had suggested that in a previous post), i did this before i left the UK! I will take your advice and drop in to a few agents tomorrow. Thanxs again! I'll keep you posted!! c xx
10. Hi Folks! Just thought I'd give you all a quick update on how things are going for us in the rental world in Sydney. We have been looking now for almost two weeks, and would love to say I feel like we are getting somewhere but we are not! We/I have had a few viewings, but if there aren't queues of people waiting to view then the places are disgusting! These can only be viewed once the rental agents answer their phones/emails and reply to messages left which so far they have not been very good at!! Its hard enough to move to the other side of the world etc without rental agents making it worse!! Be interested to hear if anyone has had the same problems! Thank goodness we have good friends or we would be sleeping on the beach by now!!
11. I am so sorry to hear your news.Thoughts are with you xx
12. Hey all, I need to vent my frustration/get some advice on something. I have been offered a job in Sydney as a RN. We have been waiting on 457 visa coming through (it is through now) and after discussing with my agent, booked our flights for 9th Dec and handed in my notice at work. Now he calls to say my start date in my new job is 21st Jan!! I feel sick! I was led to believe that I would be starting waay before then. I can't afford to sit around waiting to start and to start earning. We don't have a great deal of money!! Really annoyed with agent as I had asked on numerous occasions about start date and advised him of date we were planning on leaving UK. Now he drops this on us!! Just dont know what to do except cry. Can't even take casual shifts once there due to the conditions of visa!! Any advice welcome. Go easy on me!:cry: c x
13. Hi all, thanx so much for all the advice. Feel a little better about things now. It is just me and my boyfriend that are making the move. We have spent time in Australia before (WHV a few years ago), so have an idea of what the areas mentioned are like. Have been renting in the UK for a while now, so will get all our paperwork/references together before we leave. It's probably really bad timing as we want to be out there before Christmas, and everywhere will be jammers!
14. Hi All, I have been reading a few posts on here re: rentals in Oz and I feel totally stressed and sick! We are due to arrive in Sydney early Dec and are looking for a place to rent. For what I am being told, it's really, really difficult to secure a rental property!! There appears to be lots of rental properties on domain.com.au and realestate.com.au or am I being niave?! We are looking for rentals in and around Waterloo, Randwick, Coogee areas! Does anyone have anyone have advice for us? Or any suggestions for short-term/holiday rentals to get us through the next while. Thanx c x
15. Hi All I have been sponsored and will be going to Australia on a 457 visa. How long do I need to wait before starting the process of PR (been told its now 2 years!). Is this correct, and if so, are there ways around it? It used to be that after 6 months or so your employer would assist you in applying for PR. I know they keep moving the goal posts, is this just an example of this? Thanx in advance

17.
Sorry I've just read your message! I'm not the best at navigating my way around this site! I believe the IELTS is not required for registering with AHPRA nut it IS required for the skills assessment! I'll certainly let you know if I hear anything else!
