VISA granted on 4th March! Woohoo! Did not need to re-submit further documents (submitted police checks had expired at time of decision)!

Yes it was valid at time of application. I was led to believe as long as it was valid at time of submission it was ok. My friends police check had expired prior to her visa being granted and they did not ask for a new one. I think I will wait it out and see what the case officer says.....if I ever get one! Thanks for your advice

I was only in the UK for a few weeks on holiday. The UK PCC expired at the end of November.

HI all, a friend of mine is in Australia on a 457 visa and wants to change to a WHV if possible. Does anyone know if this can be done easily or will it be a huge hassle. Thanks

I applied for 186 direct entry stream on the 19/10/2014, still waiting....all its said is 'please wait for our office to contact you' for 18 weeks! Just got through to immigration (after waiting 60 mins) to be told I will 'probably' get a CO in the next few weeks. Most of my colleagues got their visas approved within 9-12 weeks! Also been told I will need to resubmit one of my police checks! Really annoying

Hi All, I have just lodged my application Direct Entry, my Nomination has already been approved, I now need to upload documents, am I right in saying, if they are coloured scanned they do not need to be certified? Also I find the immi site hard to follow. Have I to send my birth cert, employers references and my CV? Sorry to be a fool.

Hi Folks We are problems with mildew in our apartment, despite the window being opened 80% of the time and doing all the advised things we still keep getting it, out letting agent reckons its a common problem in Sydney!! Does anyone else have this problem? The apartment is under two years old! I have been experiencing some respiratory issues lately, my GP says its most likely due to the mildew!! We have signed our lease till next year!! Can we terminate this before hand due to this? Any help or advice welcome.

I don't understand either. I'm not sure if I asked for express delivery when I applied, it was so long ago! I have offered to pay additional for express post. If they ever respond to my emails I will find out. Feel like my hands are tied. Don't know what else to do!

Just called UKPA and have been advised it is 'highly unlikely' I will have my new passport before I am due to travel!! I can not believe this its a complete joke!! The most annoying thing is that I can't do a dam thing about it! :arghh:

Update on progress or rather lack of it!! Sent off new passport pics as requested via dhl at cost of $100 express delivery, they were signed for on the 25th june and I still don't have my passport! I plan to leave for the UK on 14 july!! Really stressed!! I've called I've emailed and still I'm getting nowhere! Its an absolute joke!! To change my outbound flight its gonna cost $1800!! I just want to cry

So folks quick update on the above. I called UKPA the otherday was told my application was processing and I should get notification my new passport would be dispatched next week. Then yesterday I got an email telling me my photographs are too light and I have to submit new pics to them!! I'm so angry! I am supposed to be going overseas in 3 weeks time

Yeah I saw that and read similar on bbc news website. My correspondence with UKPA they are still saying its the normal processing times (4weeks). Drives me nuts

Thanks for your reply!! I am even more nervous now! One of my colleagues had her passport renewed in 3 weeks!! I don't get it. It's not like it's a brand new application!! Ha! I just read about the 12 month extension too, big problem there is I have no passport coz it was sent away with application!! I know I can get an Emergency Passport for my travels but there are some restrictions on who accepts them etc (I am having a holiday in Dubai before UK......hopefully!!)

Hey folks, So I am in the process of being sponsored by my current employer for PR. I had to send off for a new UK passport as mine expires in August. I sent this off at beginning of May and so far haven't received my new one! I have contacted the UK passport office and asked how long it will take, they said look at the processing times on our website!! Eh, well I've already been waiting longer than those times!! I have seen various news reports that there are huge backlogs with passport renewals etc and they are taking approx 6 weeks!!! Does anyone know who else I can contact about this? Very frustrating!! I am going back to the UK on holiday on 14 July and I am growing increasingly anxious about it all!! Also does anyone know how long it takes for an employer to obtain a Nomination number after all the documents have been lodged? (mine are giving me the run around). Any advice welcome Ta c

Hi Beebodee, Most places ask for between 1 - 2 years experience. But you could be the main visa holder and your hubby could pick up work once you are here. Where are you thinking of going in Australia?

Happy to announce that we got the apartment! Yippee! We move in on the 16th! Cant wait! Now I have some questions re: internet. Did anyone have problems getting a provider for internet due to not having a credit history here?

Thanx for your reply Anika, we don't have medicare cards yet. The rental agents list for 100 points is ; photo ID 50 points; recent pay slip 30 pts; bank statemnts 20 pts; copy of medicare card 20 pts; copy of gas/electric/water account 10 pts each. If I give them 2 x photo ID does that give me 100 pts? We don't have pay slips yet, as not been paid yet. We have a bank statement! Just worried we will be discounted straight away for not having adequate ID.
