    Thanks both,

    Appreciate the guidance here.

Just one other question on this - both myself and my partner resigned from our full time roles and both of us are freelancing for the same companies we used to work for fulltime. The hours vary and at times are less than the minimum 20 hrs per week for "skilled employment'. I can't see now because the state lists only speak to applicants from within Oz, but will this be a problem if they open up to apps from offshore candidates and we're not currently working "full time" in our nominated occupations? Even though we've had successful skills assessments with sufficient years for the points we need and occupations we nominated.

    Best.

    No. No issue.

  2. I do wonder if what you are looking for doesn't really exist in Perth. We moved from Sydney to Perth and understand what you mean about "vibe". But Perth isn't really known for that. It is all about a much quieter feel. For example, walking through the CBD on a weekend can feel like you have wandered into a post apocalypse as there is no one around. In fact it feels a bit like being in a city in lockdown. Perth is more about people living out of the city in the suburbs and spending weekends at the beach or having a bbq.

    Thanks Marisawright,

    For your honest reply.

Just one point I'd like to clarify.

If I were to move my residency  back to the UK ( meaning I would be a fiscal resident in the UK ) and ''apply'' would the Medicare issue be the same ?

Just be aware there are other significant issues with being in limbo for a decade. For example, on a bridging visa if you were resident in the UK you would be eligible for reciprocal healthcare. However, that is not the same as full access to Medicare.

  4. Just going to add, there are two routes for a partner visa. One is your employment and the other are saving. The savings route means you have to show about £62,000. However that can include the proceeds of your house sale.

  5. You don't need an exemption as it is a permanent visa. However, do be aware that you will be undertaking two weeks hotel quarantine on arrival and that many people have had flights cancelled at last minute by airlines. Though it seems business and first class holders tend to be ok.

Sometimes it is really determined by how you set your mind. Something clicks and takes the shine off everything around you. Have you had a holiday back to the UK to see how things are?

This year we are covid ravaged and the summer has been constant rain, and it's pretty depressing so the UK at the moment is not something to be missed. I usually love living in the UK, and last summer was brilliant even with covid. But it's just damp everywhere now. In the south anyways.

Maybe have a holiday over here next year and see how you feel?

That's funny. I am in central west Scotland, normally one of the wettest parts of the U.K. and it has been a very hot and sunny summer so far.
