welder85
Hi everyone, Looking through all the DIBP site pages I am yet to find an answer to this question: I know you need 60 points to qualify for a 189/190 visa but...it's doesn't tell you exactly how? For instance, I can't find out if you DEFINITELY need a positive skills assessment, I have 30 points for age, 20 points IELTS, 5 for experience and if I took State Sponsorship I'd have another 5, equaling 60 points. I am going through the skills assessment but it's just a question we've asked ourselves through this complex process of migrating. Any answers would be great
Barry1986
You definitely need a skill assessment mate.Your EOI will not let you submit without a skills assessment
welder85
Yeah that's what I thought but as I said there's nothing say 'with a positive skill assessment you need ** points to qualify'. So my skill assessment will count as 10points right?

welder85
Submitted 5 years, I know they take 3 years as 'training' so the other 2 count for nothing. Trouble is I can't prove my work from 06-08 because HMRC only go back 6 years and I can only get hold of employer statements for that period. welder85
I got my SA302 forms going back 10 years. I thought as I'd end up with an Australian Certificate level 3 in metal fabrication that'd give me the qualification points?
Barry1986
Yes mate if you have an AQF III that is 10 points
MaggieMay24
Have you read the info on the DIBP website? http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189- It's fairly clear what's required: " [h=3]Requirements[/h] You might be eligible to apply for this visa if invited. When we sent your letter of invitation, you must also have: nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation not yet turned 50 years of age achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test at least competent English." There's a tab that provides the eligible areas for claiming points.
welder85
I have since read that yes. I imagine like most people who look at migrating, you search the points calculator first, it just ask for 60 points not specify where they come from.
