  1. Oh ok thanks, I just wasnt sure if there was a maximum number of exits and entries allowed whilst still on the 187
  2. Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the slow response from myself, i've been busy doing a lot of work, and recently went to see an immigration agent with my boss for some advice.... We found that I can be employed in the business under a "Other Sports Coach or Instructor" (CSOL 452317), but another problem would be that I need to have 2 years of experience from home for this. I do have 2 years experience as a coach, although I was not directly employed by a company at home as a coach. I would coach people and charge them directly, kind of being self employed, although it was only on weekends, and not every weekend. How deep would immigration go to be satisfied I had 2 years of previous experience in the role? I need to have a coaching qualification from Australia, which I have now obtained, but would I need to show evidence of the coaching qualification from the UK? would immigration call up the governing body for skydiving in the UK to check I had the qualification and that I was employed by a company in the UK for 2 years?
  3. If I get granted a 187 visa, am I allowed to leave and re-enter australia (like to go on holiday for a few weeks?) If so, how many times within the 2 years is this permitted?
  4. Hey guys, hope your day is good so far I have a few questions relating to the process of sponsorship. Im currently working in Adelaide on a Working Holiday Visa and I work weekends only. My manager is extremely eager to sponsor me to allow me to stay in the country and fill a gap in the business but im not sure if I would qualify for the sponsorship scheme? I heard you need to be earning about $48k a year? but ive also heard that sometimes they dont check your bank? Also, I work in skydiving, which is not on the list of acceptable forms of employment, although Ive also heard that you can be sponsored in any sector as long as your apply? I know you have to fill a position that cannot be filled by an australian, which the role im doing is extremley specific, im not sure there are that many aussies wanting to apply for the job in adelaide. Basically, im looking for a bit of advice from anyone who has gone down this route, or has more information on it. I have already checked the imi website (http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/) but its quite vauge as expected. Thanks for any advice, and mods - move if the thread is in the wrong place
  5. Dude, your gonna meet loads of people travelling in hostels, there is no need to try and find a travel buddy online before you go. I can understand you are probably aprehensive and nervous, everyone is, but i gaurentee you will make friends and sort trips out with those when you do. with money, expect to pay $150-$200 a week on hostel and food can be anything, depends if you want to eat $1 pasta or $60 steaks.
  6. Also, on the form you sign with the employers details and dates, it specifically says 'business name and address' and 'employers ABN' which suggests the place would need an ABN?
  7. I know you have to do 'Sepcified Work' in a specified area, but does the work need to be with a company? The reason I ask is because I have a weekend job in Adelaide and would be able to do some WWOOFING/HelpX mid week in order to get the specified work done, but a lot of the places offering this are just Homestays and its not for money. A lot of them wont have ABN's I wouldnt have thought, but do seem like they would count towards it. Does the specified work have to be with a company or can it be for a family that does not trade or have an ABN? Reading the elegibility requirements, it says nothing that the work has to be done with a company, it just says in a specified field or industry...http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/eligibility-second.htm
  8. I had a one way flight out here and a lot of companies don't insure you if they know you have a one way ticket but Down Under Insurance do. They also cover you for the majority of activities you would likely do out here like scuba.... http://www.duinsure.com
  9. So, its been over 5 weeks since I landed and I really should have done a lot more updating, so here goes. I've been staying at Chill Backpackers for the last 5 weeks, its a really nice place and a relaxed vibe with BYO alcohol. I've just booked a flight down to Sydney for the 2nd Jan and then getting a bus to Griffith to try find some farm work. I ended up going with Amaysim for my phone, pay $40 a month and get unlimited calls messages and 4gb of internet. I was also planning on doing my padi while in Brisbane but plans have changed, and I'll do IG in the Whitsundays most likely. I've seen quite a lot here in Brisbane, but there is bound to be things I've missed I have been updating my travel blog A LOT more than this (sorry I know!) So feel free to take a look I do plan on updating this thread a lot more than I have been though, I promise.
  10. Your going to love Surfers Paradise! It really is incredible, I was there a few weeks ago and couldn't get over the length of the beach - even from the top of the Q1 (like 230m high) I couldnt see the start or the end of the beach!
  11. Im hoping to get into diving when I head out to Brisbane, and would like to get qualified. Has anybody gained their padi license in Brisbane? Can you recommend any places to get this?
  12. Niceone! im heading to Brisbane on a 417 on 22nd Nov Mine was granted in about 5 hours, I thought it must have been a mistake so I called the embassy and they said it was no mistake, they sometimes process them faster than usual! happy times!
  13. Other than Gumtree, what websites are available for either flatshares or normal renting? Ill be landing in Brisbane in just over a week on a WHV
  14. I take it you have a WHV for Australia? I'm not sure, but I wouldnt have thought it would allow you entry to NZ, but have a look on the immigration site to see if you need a visitor visa to enter - http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/visit/visitors/quickcheck.htm
  15. With my NAB/Commbank account, they say i can deposit any funds into the account before arriving in Aus, but if i want to withdraw any funds i cant do so until I show my passport on arrival at one of their branches in Brisbane, which is fair enough. The only problem with this is, if I transfer all of my money to Aus, and for whatever reason get denied entry to Aus, then my money will be locked in Aus until I can get into the country, yes? with this is mind, ive got a travel card and put $500 on it, so i dont have to transfer my money until I know im across the border fine, and the account is opened up. Is this paranoia?
