1. Hi On $60k per year you may slightly struggle up here to rent a 3 bed in Palmo/Darwin area plus run 2 cars. The rent for a 3 bed place is anywhere from $550 upwards so that would be at least half your take home wage on the salary you mentioned. You would still have Electric rates to pay, though not as bad as people make out. I think they are on par with UK prices so not really a shock to us. It can be done dont get me wrong if you live within your budget, and depends on what visa you come on you could be eligible for family tax credits which are pretty nice up here plus rent assist too. Its a great life here in the territory and if you can survive till the other half goes back toi work you will not regret it in the long term. any other questions bud, feel free to ask ED
 2. Hi Guys, Hope your all adjusting too this cold weather we are currently having, we too are fairly new to darwin and also looking too meet new people. I'm from Cambridge, my partner is Belgian and our little rascal is approaching 3. We are a pretty laid back couple so if you fancy a chinwag drop us a line.
 3. Hi Jo have you thought of looking on Gumtree?, you can get some things cheap and since its darwin, everything holds its value so you prob would be able to sell them afterwards for the same price. cheers ed
 4. Hi Lessa Did you get our PM we sent you?, not sure what we did with it lol Cheers Ed & Co

Hi,my hubby & I are also new arrivals to sunny Darwin (very sunny!). We've been on the Gold Coast having moved from the UK at Christmas, and now work has led us up here.

We're also early 30s and have a very lively 1yr old son, and would be more than happy to meet up with new people. Give us a shout if you fancy catching up with the kids sometime. Lessa & Nathan

 7. of course you can, you can have as many as you like but it's not called a working holiday for nothing lol
 8. Hi Bouncy, We had our medicals 4 months ago with our 2 yr old Son. Talk about money for nothing. All he had was his weight / height / head circumfrance and asked to pick something up off the floor. So so so basic its really quite stupid Lol hope this helps
 9. That sounds like a plan Tom, if you fancy it how about next weekend as I'm on call this week. Drop me a pm if your interested cheers Ed
 10. Hi Guys, Just seen this thread and want to jump in lol. We are also new to Darwin, been here now for 8 weeks and loving it so far. We would also like to meet and make some friends who are in the same boat as us ( newbies ) who fancy a few drinks, BBQ's ( I can burn anything so be warned ), beach/Pool/ kiddies fun etc etc. We also like to go out without the kids for some adult fun but we are not complete pissheads, we lost that when we gained our little man :-). We are a brit/belgium couple early 30's with a lively 2 yr old son. Come on peeps, we don't bite..... well not too hard Ed & San
 11. Hi Guys, myself, partner and 2 yr old are arriving into Darwin on the 3rd February and will be living in Winnelli. We would really appreciate it if someone could possibly point us in the direction of local playgroups / outdoor meets for our little boy as we have been trying to find out from the UK but have not had much luck. Cheers Ed
 12. Hi Lisa, I was in the same boat as you over a year ago, looking for a job who would be willing to sponsor me while applying in the UK. I have to say I was very lucky and after sending about 30 applications with a covering letter to employers all over Australia only one company got back to me and almost a year to that date my Permanent residency was approved. We fly out on the 31st Jan so not long now. You have to be prepared to fly over for an interview etc and that can be a very expensive interview indeed but if you really want it you got to keep trying. Good luck
 13. Hi there, has anybody used "Relo UK" for shipping goods to Australia? They offered us very competitive prices but are just sending out feelers to others. Any info would be gratefully received
 14. Cheers Low risk country is right.....Hope you all hear something soon as reading these posts gave me some hope during our wait
